I don’t think they should extend the time on the show 🤔, it annoyed me at first but ii actually get they’re point . The short episodes actually get to the point . Love it 👏🏽
Notification gang!😤😤🔥🔥🔥
great content... there are several deals that one can enter into regarding distribution of music, like Speedsta mentioned, license to distribute your music, of which even licensing has different types, you can have an exclusive one where u as an artist can not sell your own music on the side but universal does. However, a non-exclusive one will enable you to sell it on the side, also you can negotiate for territories also, but that's another stuff. secondly, what Vigi mentioned is vital about entering into a joint venture with a company, but it seems many artists don't wanna put in investment, which result into them selling all their rights when they sign into companies... Consulting a lawyer is not expensive, rates can be negotiated, especially for reviewing a contract and providing legal advice. Read contracts before signing, secondly, know what you want and have it put on the contract, and be clear before you commit or enter into an agreement.
I don't mind the episodes being divided, but please posts all parts of that particular episode on the same day.
Ekse 🤣🤣.... Thanks for the 15 minutes
I love you guys 🤘💕💕💕💕
Check ourselves! getting our lives in order
I like speedster t.shirt boyzen in the hood that event was lit
Signing a 360 deal means the label handles your recording, publishing and managing side of business ... When it comes to signing a contract, read through it, and get an lawyer to go through it with you, even a law student from UJ doing their 3rd year, reach out ... explain what you want as an artist and work from that, you're negotiating, you want more, most definitely the label will take more from you, it's business.
Audio is everything guys sicela ngilungise I know your show isayintsha but isound iyaphoxa your content is golden though
I've read enough contracts to know that the very first offer you get probably won't be a good one. But it is the most important thing to own your masters because you decide what to do with them. If the label owns the masters they decide what to do with them. I agree that you have to split the money somewhere and that is exactly what a licensing deal is. It is splitting the cash, giving the label a percentage of the income while you own all the rights. A licensing deal is a great deal to get. Speedsta forgot to mention that in a licensing deal, the masters are guaranteed to revert to you. I say this because I am an artist manager and I've seen these deals so many times.
Lit content. The sound is off though today
Thank you so much for this insightful video guys. Ta Scoop okho ndikumamele and im grateful for the information. Vigi, who can one speak to at Universal for a record deal if you don't have representation? What is the actual process? who to call etc any pointers there? Again Thank you.
The audio is trash. Please fix it. I love this series
this shit here hit home. I was once signed and let's just say things turned sour and long story short I got out of the contract and have never looked back since.
Iv been on this from the start, and I like... Shit is good... Plzzzzzzzz do not extant this shit. Everything is nxa, just keep going, you'll are buzy with greatness... All the way from Nam 🇳🇦 🇳🇦 keep giving us that knowledge
VG insight is lethal damn...I'm not signing anything 😂😂..yho 360 is crazy
Vigie no broer stop misleading kids.
longer plzzzzz
I have a QUESTION:
with record labels, What is their mandate? What is their purpose? Is it to boosts local talent or are they operating as distribution outlets for foreign artists that want to penetrate the African/South African market?
I say this looking at what warner has achieved in the past 3 Years...haven’t seen anything to be honest.
They are just like politicians straight up
@Scoop, when you come up with an idea at your work space that has got nothing to do with what you working on, you have a right to own that. however, certain company clause are written in a way that whatever you come up with belongs to the company, of which this goes back to what you guys mentioned about going through your work contract before signing or have it reviewed by a legal personnel or someone who has better knowledge about contracts.
Yerrrr now I understand why shane eagle said "i rather die with the best of the music than fuck around and sign a deal"
This is nice being short.. im wathing on lunch
Great show firstly my question is on behalf of a lot of new acts. How important is creating and working on relationships that grow you. what is using internet beats (mostly international sound) doing to the local producers/beat makers esp when it comes to trap or the new hip hop in SA. Hope it makes sense
Speedsta knows the whole game. Brilliant content gents and lady. I have question and anyone on the comment section can answer should they have an answer. Let's say I just redorded a "hit" song, 100% original. How do I go about making sure that it reaches a wider range of people nationwide? What are the steps to take to get your music out there as much as possible. Let's say, with a budget of 10k for a song.
im just here for scoop
Maybe do it like Desus and Mero where there's clips out everywhere, but then you have a full 30/45 minute edit for those of us who like long ass youtube vids
Another South African who enjoys Desus and Mero. 🖖🏾 Bodega Hive
morning guys, thanks for this great information, i just want to know as an upcoming artist how must must you charge for 30 to 45 min performance?
this show will prolly be the biggest in S.A 5 years from now.
Dope, plz fit the audio
Can u guys puff some greens, jst wana see something, nd ur pod cast is becoming huge, keep up the good work... one more thing it would be gr8 to invite a follower every session
This popcast is dangerous, I'm fuckin addicted now
Scoop is a free talker, has no favouritism in the game, he is just stating facts and i got so much respect for him
As for the time thing I am good I watch you guy at the office so if its longer I will have a problem. For me at least
the audio was kinda off this time, great chats regardless !!
Can yall please touch on the Payola topic...
So the editors didn't put in that Instagram post now we have to search for it smh🤦🏾♂️non the less dope episode
please do a live stream during the weekend
Cassper is a good example.Start indie and hit up the labels when you have a brand and you can then bargain.
scoop and ms cosmo, khumulan izicathulo
360 can do for most of us ..buh it yent easy to getit though💔
@6:21 I 100% agree with vigi some artists are so sold on flexing/faking it that they end up broke, be smart with your ish
The sound and visuals need an upgrade but the content fire!!
Scoop 😂😂 "going to Las Vegas to beat the house😂💔 you will only be able to buy yourself a house, not beat the house"
THE SOUUUUND

Was This Recorded on a Smartphone ? Tell me if am Wrong guys ?
The Audio Quality it's not Excellent Guyz , Overall Good Job
Guys please discuss how a standard contract is structured and maybe what artists should look out for in the fine details when reading a contract.
Also, maybe do a popcast on how to speed read a contract and what points to look at.
Scoop unblock @8Locs already. 🙄
The thing is you can't really speed read a contract tbh. The contract is long and there are a lot of clauses in the contract that are important.
If I may, how about you enlist upcoming hiphop musicians/artists to perform their song/s at the end of each episode? That could supplement the short episodes...
Do you guys think that it is a good thing for sjava to remain at ambitious seeing as how many artists are leaving the stable.
SA hip hop is far yet to be better, from 2015 till this year its been moving in a snail's pace
