MalaMala Safari Moments: Episode 178.
From MalaMala Game Reserve to wherever you are in the world, we'll bring you moments from our daily safaris in one of Africa's most iconic private game reserves. This is essentially a continuation of our 'Rangers in Isolation' series which was filmed during the national Lockdown.

It's incredible what animals can suffer through before they finally die.
Imagine 10000 years ago our ancestors occasionnally seeing their loved ones being slowly dismembered alive by a pack of hyenas. People are never thankful enough for civilization, especially modern civilization.
In the hunting dog clip, I wonder how many people realise that it's the DOGS making the squealing sound, not the impala.
Scenes like that with the dwarf mongooses happen many times every day, with different animals, in the wilds. City folks won't know this, so it comes as a shock when they view it for the first time.
Elephants are amazing and the babies are among the cutest on the planet. Those two juveniles seem to have a lot of fun together.
The leopardess seems to be out for a stroll with her cubs.
Thanks for a wonderful insight into life in the wilds. I really miss being young and being able to spend a lot of time in the veld, observing all the amazing wild creatures that share our country with us.
There are many video's of wild dogs eating their prey alive , lions suffocate their prey but sometimes eat it alive as well .
How can the Impala make a sound? It's already dead.

Sometimes Mother Nature is hard to watch but you can tell they've done it before as they knew to take out it's back leg 1st. Great catch ‼️✌️
Hard to watch? Try watching an average barbecue (or braai maybe) and please think for a minute, how that food was killed. Cows are not suicidal, and still they ALL have an early funeral. Need more food for thought?

It hurt me about the little bunny but I think we have all seen videos where mongooses face dangerous snakes like the mamba and they have won it is the law of nature some will die so that others can survive

I was watching both the sunrise & sunset safaris at one point, but I've had to use "a lot of self restraint" just lately so only watch WildEarth once a day now instead, lol 😆 I highly recommend WildEarth to anyone who loves African wildlife to tune in. The little rabbit sat there while his salad was getting tossed like never before instead of running.

I am amazed that the wildlife doesn’t attack the people sitting in the vehicles.
I agree maybe the vehicle somehow scares them? Because if you're on foot you'll most likely get eaten.
It does happen, but not often.
I remember a case of a tiger snatching a child from an open vehicle in a national park in India, maybe 20 years ago.
they get way to close up on the animals. leave their car running---exhaust blowing every where. I AM SICK OF THEM.\

Here I though dwarf mongoose were just adorable they still are, but their quite the voracious little hunters. Poor bunny. Especially when one little guyrippedhis whole tail off!! Never ever in my mind did I think I'd see something like this, it's intense and scary but cute and sweet at same time holy shit. Little gang of bunny eaters fascinating and painful for poor bunny. And if food were scarce enough, you'd probably eat that bunny with the same zeal as the mongoose. A person's "aww it's so cute let's pet it" mechanism turns off at about the same time it's survival mechanism kicks in.

What I found interesting is that the mongooses did not feel any necessity to kill the hare first by going for its throat. They just slowly ate it alive.
That's because we were fed a lie that animals kill first and then eats while it's quite the opposite. Big cats don't kill or choke the animal many times but eats the prey from the stomach up

those Mongooses are vicious hunters! I once saw an ermine jump a huge rabbit. the rabbit was much larger. , quite funny to watch. The rabbit jumping in full speed with the ermine on its back, biting its neck:) These mongooses are using the same tactic as wild dogs and other predators, biting the prays paws off. Nature is brutal!

Attenborough himself admit it why they don't help animals when they film them, it's because if they do the audience will never see the harsh reality of the world and if for example tried to stop a leopard from killing baby antelope ,then the antelope might live but the leopard will have nothing to feed her cubs

It looks like the rabbit's right front paw was injured which made escaping impossible. Maybe the mongoose bit his foot prior to the video's starting?
