That last beautiful high bell tone you clearly hear at the end is Kevin! Mitch is blending high in the background! So many reactors think Mitch was double tracked & forget that Kevin's falsetto is even higher then than Mitch! ❤
I’m sure you can see why we’re convinced they’d have won the Grammy for the song if it was nominated as a single. It’s just masterful. There is a short documentary film of the Making of Evergreen (this album) and it shows the band sitting around while Kirstin hears the song all put together for the first time. Even she was shocked by how stunning it was, lol
This is my anti anxiety song, usually right before a stressful IEP meeting I play this on repeat for at least 30 minutes and it calms my racing mind because it’s so moving and makes me focus on all the good things!
#Pentatonix published this on their 2021 Christmas album, "Evergreen." Most pentaholics think this should have won a Grammy. Unfortunately, it's the publisher's responsibility to submit songs to the Academy, and RCA decided to submit the entire album rather than the one Grammy-worthy song on it. "Evergreen" (the album) was nominated, but it never had much of a chance of winning. And if I sound angry about that it's only because I am. Isn't that a gorgeous suit Scott is wearing? Do you notice that he *isn't* wearing a scarf, or gloves? That's because they aren't actually in a snowy forest; this was filmed indoors, on one of the most beautiful sets I've ever seen. Either Mitch or Kirstin could have sung the lead; they have much the same range and on occasion they sound very much alike. But Kirstin's real forte is belting out those high notes and Mitch's is ethereal (some would say angelic) vocals, which made Mitch the better choice to lead in "The Prayer." Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli each recorded solo versions of "The Prayer" for the 1998 animated film, _"Quest for Camelot."_ Dion's was in English and Bocelli's was in Italian. Later, they released a duet version on their albums "These Are Special Times" (1998 - Dion) and "Sogno" (1999 - Bocelli). Source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prayer_(Celine_Dion_and_Andrea_Bocelli_song) Obviously, Pentatonix chose to cover the duet version, though they abbreviated Bocelli's part. And wouldn't you know that Scott would be the best choice for Andrea Bocelli's part, when Scott is the member of Pentatonix most likely to forget the lyrics (according to everyone in Pentatonix, including Scott)? No, he doesn't speak Italian; he had to learn this by rote, and he worked very hard to get the pronunciation right. According to people who do speak Italian he succeeded. Lyrics and English translation of the second verse: *Scott:* _La luce che tu dai_ {The light that you give} *Mitch:* I pray we'll find your light *Scott:* _Nel cuore resterà_ {In my heart it will remain} *Mitch:* And hold it in our hearts *Scott:* _A ricordarci che_ {To remind us that} *Mitch:* When stars go out each night *Scott:* _L'eterna stella sei_ {You are the eternal star} *Mitch:* Ooh oh *Scott:* _Nella mia preghiera_ {In my prayer} *Mitch:* Let this be our prayer *Scott:* _Quanta fede c'è_ {There is so much faith} *Mitch:* When shadows fill our day *Scott:* Lead us to a place *Mitch:* Guide us with your grace *Both together:* Give us faith so we'll be safe Sources: genius.com/Pentatonix-the-prayer-lyrics Translation from: dailyitalianwords.com/the-prayer-andrea-bocelli-celine-dion-lyrics-english-translation/

I’m loving this Christmas series. They all killed it, and this time I was paying attention to Matt’s excellent bass. It’s often overlooked. Thanks!
