You completely missed the most important difference between the 3 and the 4... 360 degree sensor awareness allowing for much safer flights when using all of the tracking modes. The 3 was quite deficient in that regard and the 4 rectifies that weakness. In addition, the 4 now has the very powerful Waypoints feature which the 3 did not and will not have. Add to that Occu 4 which allows for much more solid connections between the drone and the remote handset which was a weak point in the 3.
So, when you take THESE improvements into account, of course the model 4 is a pretty superior offering, and I upgraded from the 3 to the 4 on the basis of these improvements and have not regretted it for a moment.
I did too!..and completely agree with you 💯 percent!
Fully agreed!
@@Daausby Yeah. Kind of a big deal.
Absolutely! Unfortunately I lost my Mini 3 Pro, because in a moment of attention lapse I had overseen that it could touch some branches over a swamp while circling me on a boat.
Yes my bad, but with the Mini 4 Pro that wouldn't have happened and nobody would need to worry about potential obstacles when it films flying sideways.
360 Degen sensor awareness all the way, future generations will wonder how we managed without it until now🙂
@@alexmultimodalpackrafting915 the SAME happened to me with my 3 :)
I get your point. The main argument by most users here is that if you're a pro drone pilot, you don't ever need m4p with 360 avoidance. I'm still happy w my m3p as it already has a 4k60fps capability as standard which already good enough for most skilled aerial videographers, gonna keep it running at least for another 3 years. And I don't really need any sensor avoidances to keep me bothered for getting the upgraded safety drone. My only setback is that it is still a bit slow due to its weak motors, although i've already got a mavic but too heavy and big hassle for travelling. Expecting an avata-like speed next time around.
Do you think the 4 pro is a good choice if you don't have a drone yet?
Nevermind, I finished the video
I have both mini 3 and 4. I will advise and to get the upgrade some people will upgrade and tell you don't there is so much more to the mini 4 that have not been spoken about in this video. I say Get the Mini 4 if you can afford it..
What's so much better?
I have a mavic air 2 and it has a 3volt battery in one of the legs and I can’t find out what it does?
4K 48 4K 100 , 360, way point , Night mode ,. The list goes on@@Thegoldenchild415
What about the 20KM range from the RC compared to a few KM with the 3???
There's a lot of good improvements that no one talks about for the mini 4@@paritoshdesai
I do need to upgrade from my Mini 1. (Yep one) hahaha
I just did the same, and wow, it was even more of an upgrade than I’d anticipated. Things like using the RC 2 controller instead of my phone, the extra automated flight features, and the better camera were obvious, but then little things like the increased speed and responsiveness, quieter propellers and the smoother live view all make it feel like a massive upgrade!
@@thevans98 I'm looking forward to the crash sensors hahaha
Can’t believe you didn’t mention occusync 4 (makes a big difference to signal strength) and it also now transmits 60 frames video to your remote/screen
I have the DJI Mini 3, with the RC controller. No safety features, no advance shots modes. I'm going to upgrade the Mini 4 Pro and enter that line. From there, I prolly will wait 2-3 years to upgrade to the next pro line of the mini series. Thanks for the video.
Agree, the video poster is clueless! lol
For EU customers the M3P has the big advantage over the M4P of not (yet) being certified as a C0 drone. If you stick with a firmware that was released before the probably coming C0 post-certification of the M3P you will still have the option for flying higher than 120m above home point in 2024 and after, f.i. in the mountains.
I will definetely keep my M3P.
I don't get it. Mini 4 is not seen as a civilian drone while 3 is?
Actually M4P is also certified as C0 as it is under 250g
So you mean if I get the four I cannot fly over 120 m?
@@sousarogers Flying over 120 m above the ground is illegal in the UK and most of Europe so some drones limit the height it can fly to. However I believe in a recent update DJI increased the cap to 500 m which I believe is what it is set to in the USA.
Night mode?
So the title needs to be "don't upgrade from 3 to 4". NOT "don't buy the 4" if you already have a 3.
I've been using a Holy Stone drone for the passed 2 years. It was my first drone. Excellent starter drone for the price. I've been wanting an upgrade so I broke down and ordered the mini 4 pro yesterday. I can't wait😁
The way to go, sell your old mini 3 pro and purchase the mini 4 pro 😂
360 degree obstacle avoidance is a big deal imo
Exactly and this is a awesome addition and sold me
only for noobs
Mini 3 Pro is good but I have found the Mini 4 signal in close proximity and congested areas much improved. Also the quickness connecting to the drone is much much better. Colour profiling is better as well. DLog pro and having the LUT from DJI. The obstacle avoidance is much better, it can do so much more especially on tight areas. I think it's worth the upgrade.
The log applied to Mini 4 Pro is D-Log M😀
You don't believe the camera can be any better because it's the same sensor. So you haven't heard of firmware development? Then you state the 4K100 feature, better colour profiles. You miss the better dynamic range, occusync 4, quieter operation, better 360 tracking ..but ok we'll buy the mini 3 instead lol
With the censor being the same.... Can't all the firmware upgrades just be done with post production video editing?
Any body on a tight budget and don't have either but deciding on one to buy just get the m3p if all the features on the 4 doesn't really mean much to you and if your not using the drone that much
You missed so many points in this review. It sounds like a mini 3pro fanboy rant. I own both the 3 and 4 and the 4 has way more improvements that you mentioned, VR overlay, stronger transmission, better processing in controller, lighter batteries. But no you mention landing legs ffs.
Would you recommend the mini 4 ? I travel a lot and need something small, light and good quality - if not recommend that drone, what would you recommend?
@@IsThatYouShrek It just recommends on what you’re looking for if you haven’t purchased one yet. The mini 4 pro is great for starting out but if you have a mini 3 pro already keep it till the mini 5 pro. If you’re also looking for something that’s cheaper and more affordable, the mini 3 pro would be the best bang for your buck right now!
Mini4 have C0 no more than 120m from one point, this is BIG reason why i never ever buy mini4
It sounded more like a balanced view of the two from an experienced professional user for those thinking of upgrading from the 3 to the 4.
sold my mini 2 and bought the mini 4 pro
Major upgrade. 👍
It seems like you knew if you added the omni directional sensors to the list that your title was gonna sound off
Uh-oh! Another “Do Not Buy” Mini 4 Pro envy video. If you actually have a Mini 4 Pro and have flown it, you’ll have an absolute different opinion.😉
No. No I wouldn't 😉
The Mini 4 does produce better quality video in low light conditions. It is difficult to see the difference in bright daylight. I have the Mini 3 and will not upgrade as you say not a lot of extras for the additional cost if you already own a Mini 3. . I can fully understand why people do upgrade as it does🥂 have some really good extras. I will personally Waite and see what the Mini 5 has to offer . Enjoyed your views on the Mini 4. 🥂🥂
Instead of upgrading to a mini Pro 4 I decided to get the Mavic 3 Classic. Don't regret it.
Nice choice
Obstacle avoidance on both drones is hit and miss don’t trust them
However the waypoints feature and dlogm on the m4pro is its best features
There's a huge difference between these drones. One of the most important is the obstacle avoidance. With the Mini 4 Pro, you can fly circles through trees. With the Mini 3 Pro, you'll crash.
Yeah, this is a huge upgrade over the Mini 3 Pro.
I mean the title was totally click bait lol you got me..... 😅 i own both and the upgrades were worth the purchase. Waypoints, occusync 4, d-log m, extended battery life.....tbh i wouldve prob just got it for waypoints....gre8 video
Thanks so much!
Considering the prices are similar for these two drones, nobody looking to buy their 1st drone or upgrade from mini 2 would get the old model (pro 3).
The difference in photo and video is astonishing. I don’t really wanna spend my time editing media. Also, the RC 2 controller. Cmon man! The Omni directional sensors and so much more you are missing. I use mine with an iPad mini and the video and images look amazing and there easy to share with other people sitting by. Also, it’s the same price as the mini 3 pro was when it first came out. Stress free flying with the obstacle avoidance sensors all around and the ability to see such stunning media right away on my iPad without having to use software on my PC.
If I owned the Mini 3 Pro, I probably would not have purchased the Mini 4 Pro.
I owned the Mini 2 and upgraded to the Mini 4 Pro.
Loving the drone.
The Mini 2 is a great drone and so is the Mini 3 Pro.
Each to his own. Each one has their own use cases.
You forgot to mention the most important thing, omnidirectional sensors which is the biggest upgrade making it almost crash proof. If it wasnt for that i wouldn't upgrade from the mini 3 pro that i have. 🤗
no mention here of the '4' RC range is far superior to the old RC. the '4' RC is incredible, and i reckon worth the upgrade.
Very informative. Having only the original Mavic Pro I decided for the Mini 4 Pro and don' regret it. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
@@amycreighton Funny how you don't respond to many comments about leaving out the 360 sensors and other improvements!??
I'm trying to get into the drone community now. I travel alot. And just find it is fascinating the videos I've seen are awesome. I've ordered a cheap drone to see if I really want to indulge myself in the hobby.
I'm already looking at a upgrade if I do. And getting the top of the line for a beginner is what I want. Easy
what are the best drone lens I can get on amazon?
I ve used countless sensor tech across vary of cameras for over 10 years, loads of companies regularly put out the exact same sensor over multiple models, with processing being improved, Fuji being one of them, and there are dramatic changes to highlight roll off and shadow retention despite being the exact same sensor. Just my 2 cents.
Exactly, she says there aren't really any advantages since it uses the same camera but there are quite a few differences.
The mini 3 pro has a maximum of 6400 ISO, the 4 pro has a maximum of 12800 in night mode.
The mini 3 pro can handle 4k at up to 60 fps and 1080p at up to 120 fps, the 4 pro can record 4k at 100 fps or 1080p at 200 fps. Also the mini 3 pro can't use obstacle avoidance or APAS with anything above 30 fps for some reason, regardless of if it is 1080p or 4k, it also can't use focustrack above 30 fps, none of which is an issue with the 4 pro.
So quite a few differences that would make a difference to quite a few people.
Did you mention obstacle avoidance?
The lack of landing leg increases wind resistance. I do not recommend attaching it.
I appreciate this comparison Amy!
I own both and for a solo content creator this Is a no brainer. Waypoints is a game changer for me. I guess DJI could bring this into the 3 with a firmware upgrade but doubt that will happen.
I think DJI believes the omnidirectional sensors are needed for safe waypoint flights and I tend to agree with them. Especially when you advance-plan waypoint flights and have the drone pointed at a POI, it is essentially flying sideways. Funny how those trees and such are higher than anticipated when you planned the flight in your living room
Yeah waypoints cant be added to the m3 due to the missing side sensors
Very helpful video. Thank u
Just to correct yes same sensor size not same sensor new sensor is like (not equal) to the air 3 sensor
Found your channel. Really great. Thanks.
Awesome, thank you!
After crashing the 3 in an orbit take, and repeating it safely with the 4, seeing how it dodges trees coming from the side... yeah, buy the 4.
Sensors are not exactly the same. The 4 pro has a stacked sensor the 3 has not.
Don't need landing gear bc most of my landings are hand landing from behind or to my side.
Not landing legs.. antennas. The sensor is not the same.. its same as on air 3
I'm open to correction on the following (because I haven't paid 100% attention to the Mini 3/Pro & the Mini 4 Pro). I got the impression the 4 was as much a response to the transmission issues with the 3 as anything else. Is the 4's camera the same as the Air 3's camera? If so, then it would be a stacked sensor(?). I don't fully understand the 120 meter relative max altitude limit and whether this is only for certain regions (Europe) with the 4. And the 3's batteries used with the 4 push the 4 three grams over the 250g limit. It's getting to the point where a spreadsheet is needed to consider all the aspects.
How much memory can you install on the Remote Controller ?
Sold my 6mo old M3P combo for 900, and bought the 4 combo for 1159. Not too bad.
Where did u sell it please?
@@VOFTV2024 I sold it on my company's (microsoft) SellBuy email group. Facebook market place is now full of scammers, so sick of it.
Reading the comments here, and everyone arguing that the 4 is better. Short answer yes the 4 is better, however if your a novice drone pilot like myself, i will stick with the 3. I have had the 3 for a year now so upgrading is not worth it.
You forgot key difference between the mini 3 pro and the mini 4 pro : the lateral sensor that prevents the lateral collision. It's a big difference for me : i crash my mini 3 pro two times in the forest without this lateral sensor!
Súper, nice sharing 😎🤝
I'm waiting for Mini 5 pro with dual cameras
Yo paddy pimblett im buying the mini4 had the mini3 and will get the mini5 if it happens
Great work keep it up.👍👍👍
Arguing over a couple of hundred dollars for better video quality alone
I agree 100% Amy. I think the better upgrade route is the Air 3.
Is not 249g so not comparative
@@chriseley9828I believe they were saying, if you already have the 3, then upgrade to an air instead.
This way you have the benefit of a mini for traveling and crowded places, and the dual camera and stability of the air for hills and mountains etc.
This is how I see things. I have the mini 3 and will definitely pick either the air or the Mavic so I gain an extra tool, rather than a similar one.
Stacked sensor on Mini 4 PRO.
Why some ppl just talk without knowing ,so you compared to other 20 ppl not sponsored by dji, said that the quality it's better the drone itself is much better for diferent reasons and you come here to say the opposite, if you so professional you should know better no?
A little deceptive with the title.
The mini 3 pro is amazing in its own right
Agree
I think I will stick with my mini 3 pro. Being a intermediate pilot that’s good enough for me. Thanks for sharing.
Good choice!
Mini 4 Pro has omnidirectional sensing, Mini 3 pro doesnt have that. I guess its important for a beginner to have that.
I would at least mention the low light differences….
the battery is 3g lighter on the dji 4 pro
Lol, leaving out the Mini 4's 360 degree sensors is a big flop on this channel, lol
they claim that point tracking is way smoother on the mini 4 pro
Why do you need legs (which is extra weight and it will have obvious consequences - reduced flight time and air drag) for drone which you can start and land from your hand?
Simply ridiculous
Are the batteries interchangeable with the Mini Pro 3 and Mini Pro 4 ?
@@dunnoyolo2238 yes
I’m not the biggest fan of when people make definitive statements, especially on other peoples behalf, such as “Do not buy (item)”. If there is not something seriously wrong with said item that is a very controlling statement to make, there is nothing wrong with the mini 4 and I respectfully disagree with your title. If you want the mini 4 buy it.
Yeah. I couldn't justify the expense to upgrade for features I wouldn't use
I think the 360 obstacle avoidance is worth it alone. What's your take?
@@Thegoldenchild415 Having had a Mini 2 without obstacle avoidance, you tend to develop spatial awareness pretty quick
@@TonesDroneVisuals yeah that's I thought of myself too, until it happens:-). The overcofindence-effect is hardwired into our brains, that's why all modern cars have airbags;-)
1. Most important is that mini 4 pro has RC 2 controller with the antennas and ocusync 4 and much better flying distance range.. this woman skipped that most important info 😂
So useful ❤
Mini 3 Pro.. FPV mode, Goggles, Motion Controller, Head Tracking... Mini 4 can't do it yet. Skip the upgrade, buy the Goggles.. its the only way I fly. DJI RC sits in the bag now.

DJI MINI 4 PRO | Complete Beginners Guide + Best Settings -ruclips.net/video/ITFeRjzOR_I/видео.html
Very bad form to self advertise is someone else's comment section. Especially when the video doesnt even have anything to do with drones.
Drone flying is indeed a personal choice, and it's not a one-size-fits-all situation. It depends on various factors, such as where and how you fly, as well as the type of shots you require. However, when it comes to the Mini 3 PRO or Mini 4 (essentially the same drone), I've encountered several limitations that I believe are worth considering:
Non-Zoom Lens: The lack of a zoom lens on these Mini drones means you have to get quite close to your subjects. This can be problematic when dealing with wildlife and people. Being within 30 meters to get a good shot can often scare off wildlife and disrupt people's activities.
Wind Handling: Wind is a significant factor in drone flying, and the Mini series doesn't handle gusts well. There have been instances where I've had to switch to larger drones for missions because the Mini simply couldn't cope with the wind.
Prop Changing Difficulty: Changing props on the Mini series can be quite challenging. Even with professional tools, the factory-fitted screws often strip, requiring time-consuming efforts to replace them. In Australia, where insects can be a significant issue, especially during flight, I prefer the clip-on props of larger drones for their ease of replacement.
Size and Weight: Personally, I don't find the slightly larger size of other drones to be an issue. Most of my photography is well-planned, and I have to transport gear to the site regardless. With a hard carry case, the weight doesn't pose a significant problem for me. However, I understand that for those who hike and walk for extended periods, the weight of larger drones might be a concern, and that's a matter of personal preference.
Camera Rotation: The rotation of the camera is a non-issue for me. I have a preference for traditional cinematography techniques and find portrait mode, as seen in platforms like TikTok, less appealing. Additionally, the difference between 4K and 2.7K resolution on small screens, even iPads, is often imperceptible. So, the camera rotation is not a critical factor in my drone selection.
While I have experience flying all models of drones, I've found that the Mini Pro series no longer meets my requirements for most missions. It may be suitable for newcomers to the drone hobby, but after a few years, its shortcomings become apparent and limit its usability in various scenarios.

You are such a hater! I upgraded from mini 2 to mini 4.
Your title is completely misleading and the likes of you (click baiters) should be banned.
Also. The mini 3 with added landing legs is a massive difference as it increases the weight, making it illegal!
Actually think yoi are just a hater
I use the Mini 3 Pro for commercial shoots in tight spaces and still use the Mavic 2 Zoom for longer range shots... because, contrary to general opinion, both drones still have a 12mp sensor - the 48mp is quad-Bayer interpolation with some really (genuinely) impressive software voodoo but the base resolution is still only 12mp with 2.3 micron photosites. Also used the 4 Pro to judge comparison stills/clips with those from its older brother. Yes: with video, DLOG-M is a big plus, but like the rest of the 'improvements' to the imaging - it is all software based and nothing to do with a hard-tech improvement or refinement. Firmware COULD add those same features to the 3 Pro if DJI could be bothered. One of the only real hard upgrades is the new RC2 controller because that is 2T4R (2 Transmit: 4 Receive antennas). Fair enough the O/A sensing is SLIGHTLY better: but like all DJI Obstacle Avoidance: it is still nowhere near as good as the marketing blurb claims. The O4 might give more stable signal connection, but only for so long before the wifi noise that shot O2 @ 2.4ghz in the foot proliferates further and affects O4 in the same manner... and what is going on with that Mavic 3 Pro (4:19)?? If that was my hellishly expensive 'pro-sumer' drone and I'd forked out £1,900 only to end up spotting that quirky little shake, rattle 'n' roll dance... I'd be having a very pointed conversation with the manufacturer about airframe judder.
