You are one of my favorite colorists. I really appreciate how you tell us WHY you are doing certain techniques, your use of lighting, cool vs warm colors, etc. And thank you for your review of the Arrtx pencils. I'm intrigued 🙂
Irene,Once again I watched your video with great pleasure!!! Thank you very much for sharing your skills!!! They are very useful!!! I will not tire of repeating to you that a real artist can draw with different materials:) and the result will always be excellent!!!🎉🎉🎉❤
Oh thank you so much, that makes me happy! 😊 Your kind words mean a lot! Trying different materials is always a fun challenge and I'm happy to share ❤🥰
Irena, it is always inspiring to watch your coloring/painting. I will keep an eye out for your next session on this page!! It was especially helpful to watch you choose colors for a night scene since I wanted to do something with the picture of the owl on the house in Johanna Basford's Worlds of Wonder book and wanted to use your version of this as a model. Hearing you discuss color choices rather than just copying them myself was excellent!! Thanks for doing these tutorials!!
Thank you so much! 😊 It means a lot to me to hear that my process and color choices were helpful. LOVE the idea of an owl colored in these shades. It will look beautiful, with a mysterious feel 😊 Hope you have a great time coloring it 💕
I had gotten the Artxx pencils when they came out. I will say they were ok but i gave them away in the end. I wanted to see what you had to say as you are an amazing artist!!! Thanks you for explaining your process! It makes a lot of sense! I like your color choices on the background….i really like your house choices i like this fantasy edge!!! The houses below look very cool!!! Thanks for all the tips they are inspiring and very helpful!!! This picture so far is absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you so much for all the tips and how toos!!! It has helped inspire me so much!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊I really appreciate it, and I’m so happy to know that my process and tips were helpful. And I totally get that, everyone has their own preferences, and thanks so much for watching 💕😊
I know that gesso is helpfull when you want to work with watercolor in colorinbooks. But I see that gesso pop up the colors more when you work with colorpencils. It looks like you use watercolors or gouache. It looks amazing. I think I will buy gesso to experiment with it. Exited to see the rest of your work. Love it❤
Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️ You're absolutely right! I also noticed how nicely the colors layer over gesso. Honestly, I forgot I was working on gesso at first, and that toothy texture really helped build up the colors smoothly. I usually avoid covering large areas with gesso because details and edges can be more precise without it. But this time, I didn’t mind it at all, it turned out to be a good combo of pencils and gesso. I hope you have fun exploring 😊
😍👍 Irena, that was truly spectacular!! 👏👏👏😊 And just the inspiration I needed! I coloured these floating islands years ago, and was recently toying with the idea of giving them a retouch for more colour vibrancy, especially the skies. Now I know exactly how to do it! 😃👍 Thank you!! 🙏 🤗🥰😘
Wow! You turned this picture into such a gorgeous glowing scene! I absolutely love how it turned out and can’t wait to see the rest that you create! I’ve never used gesso before and heard that it can chew up your pencils. How did the Arrtx hold up? (Sorry if you mentioned in the video, I skipped through a bit) I really want to try to recreate this so I’m happy you’ll be filming the rest! Thank you for sharing your incredible talent with us!
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot! ❤ Gesso makes the texture rougher, so you might find yourself sharpening the pencils a bit more often, but I didn’t have any issues with it. I wanted to stick to just the Arrtx pencils for the tutorial, and I’m really happy with how they performed! They layered well and were easy to work with, especially for the price for such a large set. No issues over gesso - although I generally try to avoid it on larger area 😄 But this island scene was so detailed that I thought it would be the best option 😅Happy to share 🥰
Thank you so much for this! I wanted to colour a night scene in one of my colouring books but was too afraid to pick out colours. Thank you. So pretty.
Thank you so much! 🥰 I'm thrilled you liked it! Night scenes can feel tricky at first, but once you find the right colors, they’re perfect for creating magical effects and glow 😊
Thank you so much! 😊 Gesso is similar to acrylic paint, but it will create a slightly textured, absorbent surface. I use it in one layer to lighten or cover line art before coloring.😊
Amazing colouring! The pencils look a little drier than what I've seen of them before since others have described them as a soft pencil. Maybe they have changed the formula or you got a bad batch? Still you made it work!
Thank you so much! 🥰 This is my first time trying them out, so I can’t say for sure. When I did the color swatches, I did notice that some of the pencils in the set were a bit firmer compared to others. But once I started coloring, I didn’t think about it at all, and they still leave beautiful vibrant color without too much pressure, which is important for me. They were actually lovely to work with! They’re not super creamy, but they layer beautifully, and the colors are vibrant. Honestly, I feel like I’ll be using them a lot in my videos 😄
@blackaneri sometimes you need to sharpen them when you 1st get them as some companies put a coating over the tips of the pencils. Maybe try sharpening one to see if that helps?
@@thecolorcompanion Oh, I didn’t think of that, thanks! Since I didn’t have any issues with coloring later on, that could definitely be a possibility. Anyway, I’m happy with them, that’s what matters! 😊
