  • Bandhi Village, Bhopal - In a heartbreaking incident, a 44-year-old deaf man named Keerti Singh Tomar lost his life when his house collapsed due to heavy rain on 4th August 2024.
Tomar lived alone in a small hut, or "kuchha" house, in Bandhi village, which is about 530 km from Bhopal. When it rained heavily, his house could not withstand the pressure and collapsed.
Trapped under the debris, Tomar was unable to call for help because of his disability. Villagers noticed that no one had seen him that day and feared he might be buried under the rubble. They started searching for him and informed the police.
Despite their efforts, they could not save Tomar. He died after being buried alive under the debris of his own house, unable to raise an alarm due to his disability.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers faced by people with disabilities during emergencies and the need for better support and infrastructure to protect vulnerable individuals.
