Another fantastic video! Your cinematography skills are quickly improving & I feel myself being motivated to do better on my channel. I enjoyed the first lap narration. If I were the tracking type, I think this narration would be beneficial for pre-track research. A step by step walk thru of the turns & what to expect. Well done & thank you!
I'm glad it came out that way. I'll admit to having whatever the video editing version of writer's block is with this one. I blame holiday-itis. The first lap narration was a harebrained idea. My thought was that it would be the most honest reflection of both A) How intuitive the track-in-question is and B) How well I've done my homework. Thanks for the comment, 'always looking forward to what you come up with as well 😄
Lovely track! Most of my fellow Europeans still think that the USA only has ovals but I've quite a nice list to push under their noses to set them straight. This gem is certainly an addition to it. Wish I could have a few laps on it in, say, a '76 911 RSR 3.0.
I'd love to take a few laps of nearly anything, mall parking lot included, in a '76 RSR 3.0! If you want a nearly-exhaustive list of active (and some derelict) road courses in the U.S. I have a map on my website: www.lapoftheworld.com/the-map/
Similar length, but it drives very differently. NCM has more turns, but I thought the initial learning curve wasn't as steep because there are only really two blind elements and they are far less extreme than those at TH. NCM is pretty flat in comparison. Peak speed should be higher at NCM because of the entry to the front straight, average speed I'm less sure about. I *feel* like TH was faster on average, but watching both videos I'm less sure about that. I'll pull the data from the logger though.. NCM has more (general) types of turns / elements and more "combo" sections so I would call it "more technical" in that there are more opportunities to screw up in a way that will cost big time. TH's challenges were more dealing with abrupt elevation and weird camber. NCM has the "sinkhole" that's pretty intense down/up, but it does not have the t-3 ish "dump you off camber" anywhere like TH. I'd say NCM would be harder on brakes on account of more hard braking zones, but easier on tires with fewer high-speed/steady state bends.
NCM is one of the One Lap Of America tracks for 2019, and is the last road course on the schedule. You should join us...a co-Pilot and I hope to be in a NC1 NSX or a 981 GT4.
I really should look at which tracks they're hitting this year. The event as a whole has always looked like a blast. I think I'd be shooting for "not-last" with the vintage NSX, but would be fun either way.
i had a chance to tour the corvette factory, but i forgot my bluetooth headphones around my neck, after leaving the phone in the car, due to their policy. so i toss my headphones on a tree and the head security guy at the gate wouldn't let me in. because he had seen me with electronics. this guy might have been too stupid to do anything more challenging than watching people. apparently having handled electronics disqualifies you to see the factory.
That's unlucky. I wondered how the museum would be. They didn't care at all. Walked in with phone, DSLR, etc. Obviously nothing in there is under R&D wraps, but I've been to some museums with similar no photo policies
Awesome track,! thanks for the ride along! On a side note....freaking MIATA! lol

Cool video and channel! You're based near NCM now I gather?
Thanks! Knoxville, Tennessee area. So just a few hours away, but regionally "near".
Hey, I am in Knoxville too!

Awesome. Thanks!
How would you compare this track to Thunderhill? PS thanks for sharing.

Reminds me of AMP, very demanding with little time for rest.
Yeah, AMP is not a bad analogy. NCM is a little faster, AMP has more elevation change, but definitely similar character.
