  • I discuss aligning the datum reference frame from a GD&T drawing to the default top right and front planes in solidworks 2022.
I model the part and then detail the drawing with model items, and then apply GD&T.

Finally waiting for this type of content. Please make practical videos for how design engineers can assign GD & T symbols with TSA. That will be a great way to learn more.

So good seeing hoe efficient you use SolidWorks! I really don't understand why GD&T is not taught in every engineering program. I've been working as an engineer for 6+ years and its ridiculous how poor drawing skills are. We have no idea what we are doing! Of all things taught, learning how to make technical drawings is the absolute most practical skill. And its not taught! Sorry for the rant, but not knowing GD&T or proper drawing techniques has limited in every interview and every job I've had.

your videos have been helping me a lot in enhancing my technical know how, really appreciate your work man. Would love to see similar projects where you model thing in solidworks and then perform GD&T, its really immersive this way

Great video. Don't forget the "3X" text added to the small hole diameter dimension...

Happy New Year Dean. Wishing you all the best.
I always love your videos. Just a small tip on this drawing. Because there are just 2 views on the drawing, TOP and RIGHT, so people may crash their head "are these holes THROUGH?". :)

Professor, I request you with respect to do GD&T video series on ISO method. Greeting from Bereket from Netherlands

Hi, unfortunately I can’t help much with ISO right now. I don’t have the GPS standards, so I can’t speak on the subject with any authority. Thank you for the input.

I do not understand how you have fully constrained the part with one plane and one axis. 3 Translations and 2 rotations have been constrained. Could you please explain? Thank you

      Hi,
I explain why in this video:

how is the profile oriented to the small holes

    • @RDeanOdell

Hi, simultaneous requirements apply here, so the profile and the holes are considered as one pattern.
