    I think you have to hear the Korg SV1 in person. It's a great alternative to actually lugging a Rhodes from gig to gig.

    I am a Korg SV1 owner and DIE HARD fan of that keyboard... but this video shows how superior a real rhodes is

      I agree. When I first got the SV1 a few years ago, I thought it was very similar sounding, but now that my ears have adjusted it doesn't compare. I used to think it was because I needed to just figure out the right settings to better model the Rhodes, but no; the Rhodes just kinda washes over you. Still very happy with the SV1, but it's just a different instrument.

    @tyleryesta1:
    You can modify the sounds to your own liking, however I noticed the original rhodes to be somewhat less dynamic. I know it sounds kinda strange, but the original rhodes has more 'mudiness' to it.
    Lately I did use the compressor to even it out just a bit, but I hope the SV-1 sound pack 2 offers some advantages too. I'll check it this weekend, and let you know!

    Hee Lennart , te gekke toetsenist ben je !!
    Wat is jouw mening over de piano geluiden van de Korg sv-1 dus de "klassieke" piano geluiden, zijn die enigzins ok ?

    Hi Simen,
    I'm sorry, I can't remember exactly which one I used as a starting point. But I can tell you I lately use a different original patch when I play without fx than the one I use with fx.
    I believe I listened to Frank McComb playing on the SV1 and decided I'd use another base sound when playing dry sounds.

    Seriously, is there any method you used, like covering existing songs or playing training songs, or just from doing it a lot or from lessons in books or from teachers..

    Cut a little high end off the SV-1 and it's pretty damn close! I also like the keybed on the SV-1. Tried the Electro 3, but SV just has more "character" in my opinion.

    Great playing! The Korg SV-1 is good for musicians who want to learn to play funky. But it still isn't a Rhodes. Guys like you, who can play as good like this, should use a orginal Rhodes.
    I don't own a Rhodes, but I want to buy one. Can you please please tell me, what Amplifier do you use for the Rhodes Mark 2 Stage Piano to get this fantastic Sound?

  • @bubsadoozy
    @bubsadoozy 10 лет назад +1

    It's hard to tell because I feel like the logistics of owning a SV-1 outweighs that of a real rhodes. They were different but I'm sure if you through it through an EQ pedal it'd get much closer.

    Thanks for replying.. I've been kinda obsessed with getting the right keyboard for my band, and recording so any info from owners of the sv1 is useful. I hear what you're saying about the early mark 1's, I basically don't like as much bell in my rhodes sound. so can you some how lower that? and I'll be interested to knowing what you think of sound pack 2, especially the dark tine rhodes sound. thanks again.

    can you get more of a early mark 1 tone out of the sv1 by eqing or by using the editor? I like it the way it is but I'd like to have the option when playing Herbie Hancock tunes. to me it sounds more like a mark 2 80's model but they said they modeled it after a mark 1.

  • @emilshere

    I love the mechanical moises. can you crank them up louder in the sv-1? The release noise of the tines and thge metallic clanks and things... I always boost them alot because any presets you get with a keyboard do not have enough of those noises in them. your preset sounds very good however.

    @tyleryesta1:
    So, here's a quick overview of the new sounds in Service Pack 2. I found the Wurlitzer sound more genuine, it's warmer and it has a longer sustain. The new rhodes sounds are very useful in getting different characters when playing. I do think you can find your Herbie sound.
    The Grand pianos are louder and a bit warmer than the first versions, and there are some nice clavs also. I noticed most of the new sounds don't use the tube section, but do sound warmer, so check it out!

  • @tyleryesta1
    @tyleryesta1 14 лет назад

    so because they done use the tube section does that me they can get that much warmer when applying to the new and improved sounds?

    @Patrick19702210:
    Hoi Patrick! Dank je! Je kunt de standaard piano ook horen op het andere RUclips clipje dat ik gepost heb over de SV-1.
    Het piano geluid is minder direct en agressief dan bijvoorbeeld een Yamaha piano, minder diep laag dan de Kurzweil sound. Maar het is wel heel bruikbaar, een beetje jazz piano achtig. De lage tonen op 'full velocity' klinken heel overtuigend. Ik ben er wel blij mee:)

  • @tyleryesta1
    @tyleryesta1 14 лет назад

    usually you can hear the fake sound coming through on the higher notes. in the sv1's case I notice it more on the bottom end. not enough resonance for my taste. does anyone know if sound part 2 has a more Herbie sounding rhodes. if it doesn't then how did they expect to compete with nord?

  • @marxtinus

    The original video has been edited. in the fist version it was obvious that you can get more dynamics from an old Rhodes + a priceless analogue chorus than a nearly 2k buck SV-1 but.... I do not have an old Rhodes/Wurlitzer in my garage and I don't have that priceless analogue effect Professor Lennart played with. For my own point of view a SV1 is a definitely a great choice. If you want the best for your buck deal ga to SV1 as I will.

    of course sv1 has a cleaner sound. he's comparing a brand new electronic instrument with a decades old mechanical one. you can edit many settings and parameters to get it to sound older if you want. pretty sweet!

    OF COURSE the rhodes sounds better: because it's the benchmark for the korg. All the korg people was trying to do was to sound near a rhodes. What do you expect? an e-piano sounding BETTER than a rhodes? The Korg has different qualities (did you guys ever tried to transport a rhodes?) and is a nice instrument, but it just isn't a rhodes, because only a rhodes is a rhodes...but the korg i more close than most of the clones i know...
