Spoilers: Figured the kings envoy was paying him to act as the ghost and that the mayor was in on it but I got miner details wrong that didn’t actually mater in the end. Some one experienced with an axe could have done it swinging from either side and he need not be facing the kiIIer but could also have been attempting to run. I figured he never handed the axe over and instead had his fingers cut off to disarm him and had his axe taken while the axe used to slay him was left. When it revealed the axe in the tomb I assumed that because the marks on the handle that it was the axe taken from the tomb to make his disguise more authentic and the marks proved it was cut from his hands. Grim on it was likely to it being stored in the swamp or back in the tomb when not needed as I’m sure he wouldn’t have bothered cleaning it. Maybe I miss heard how the marks on the handle where described to come to such conclusions but oh well. The kiIIer being left or right handed mattered little but when they said they thought he was right handed and later the envoy was discribed as using his left but seemingly clumsily as he was bumping the mayor I assumed he was using cuz he was told they suspected a right handed person and by faking being left handed he intended to draw suspicion away from him. The only thing that left out was who had the strength to not only cleave off the envoy’s head but also part of his shoulder. I expected a large and/or heavy man to match not only the required strength but to match the boot print in the tomb. Rolf was never described in such a way so he was out. the adventurer was described as tho tall she had a thin weist so I doubted that even in armor she’d be heavy enough for the imprint. the father was described as a large man so maybe but it was doubtful as unless he was running a failing business and needed the money why risk the career kiIIer of being caught in the scandal and I doubted he slayed anyone hitting on his daughter or a large portion of the down would be in the grave. the dwarf would’ve been to small to be that heavy. The captain of the purple dragons perhaps as in his armor he’d surely weigh quit a bit but doubtful they’d risk involving him as he could easily turn them in. With so few suspects left I began to think the unlikely that the ghost had done the second kiIIing as revenge for disturbing his tomb at the wrong time or perhaps for taking the final piece of his treasure as i doubt he was coinless when he was found or it would have mentioned a would be wealthy man missing his coin pouch. A few final coins could’ve set off the real ghost and not have seemed out of place with the rest of his gold. This means the print was left by the mayor as he was discribed as fat he’d have the weight or the fake ghost as his armore and muscle would also be heavy enough. I had not even guessed that a fat old man not known to leave the house very often if at all before had traveled the swamp alone and to carry the likely heavy treasure back with him all at once. The powder found I assumed was the poison they had used possibly made from from the spike tree nearby. that would explain the mayor’s infection if he accidentally got stabbed but pulled the thorn out quickly. So while the iron throne was in no part of my deductions I am still proud of myself to have at least gotten the right ppl as the culprits and well enough to have framed them with whatever final pieces of the puzzle where being held from us as investigation novels always do. I didn’t get it all right but i think I did a good enough job.
This is one of the best forgotten realms audiobooks I have heard in a long time
Great story thank you innkeeper
Interesting so far. Only about half an hour in. I think the reader of the story is doing a good job. He’s keeping me hooked on the story
I love the Black Rat Inn! I'll thank you for the tale and wish for a tankard of ale to go with the sizzling meats and stew.

The story seems good, but that voice no thanks. Tommy
