Nova 2024: NASA says we are about to witness a once-in-a-lifetime explosion in the sky. It's not the anticipated supernova of Betelgeuse. Instead, it's about the sudden appearance of a nova in the sky. The term "nova" means "new" in Latin, referring to a "new star" in the sky. It's a transient astronomical event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright, apparently new star that slowly fades over time. This spectacular nova will occur in a star system known as T Coronae Borealis, or T CrB, situated in the constellation of Corona Borealis, approximately 3,000 light-years away. The best part is that this celestial event can be seen with the naked eye.

Yes sir
Yay time to spend 200$ on a sphear !!!!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you explain, in a video, a Hypernova to us as well then? And how it differs from a Supernova?
Excuse me I have a question. How does NASA say anything at all considering they were shut down back in 2009 or something like that. Their whole space program was defunded and shut down after they refused to send anymore astronauts into space. That was the end of NASA so how are they still saying anything to anyone?
@@lucifermephistophilies6629 have you heard of this thing called a "telescope"?
I’m in my 60’s, and I’m now having a hard time keeping up with all the “once in a lifetime” astronomical events that have happened in my lifetime! 😵💫
I am still happy having witnessed comet Hale-Bopp ☄️
I am also in my 60’s, and the highlight of my lifetime was the Apollo moon landings.
🎯😂😂😂
& we got Hailey’s Comet too. 1962-& counting…
😅😂🤣
If this event happens every 80 years and the light takes 3,000 years to reach us that means 37 more explosions have already happened.
wow
Crazy huh, space time is trippy
@ holychip911. That was my immediate thought. Stay out of my head. I don't know you..let go of my purse
To a star, 80 years is like a millimillisecond to us.
Lol
I'm expecting it so soon, and i hope it will come out accurately in the sky.
I discovered with my own eyes the Nova in the constellation of Cygnus in 1976.
Please share some more details and insights into that event. Ex: How did it look? What was the Color? What was the duration of the explosion? How Clear it was? In which country were you on during the event? Please sir provide some more insights into the Event.
4 months later, and no reply, hummm🤨🤥
T Coronae Borealis this is a star what I've never heard before because the Star Explosion Betelgeuse is that famous I don't know any other star explosions, but it's so great you can see that star explosion just with the Naked Eye can't wait to see that! When this star explosion is? Those Mova Globes looks really awesome moving spheres of planets, moons and suns with beautiful art! 🌏🌍🌎🌑🌕☀️🌠🌌🌟💥
I'm so glad that we have Nasa Astronomers and many of the sky watchers that are out watching the skies for us daily and are keeping us alert. Keep up the good work.🌃🌇🌅🌘🪐🌠🌌☀️🌛⭐️☄️🛰🚀
Good point! For all mankind!

Well... we're still waiting!
Yes but this is a good thing at least for me...because I'm actually trying to do a study on this and I don't plan on missing it.
One month later... still waiting.
But well, even a year is just 52 weeks. 520 weeks for 10 years, 5200 weeks for hundred years.
Problem solved, there's nobody of us left to complain after 100 years or just 5200 weeks ;-)

@@Brianboru-k8y real.
Never happened
Very interesting 🧐🤔. I’m unlikely to see it here in the U.K though due to clouds and light pollution. 🙄🤦🏾♂️
it depends on were you are in the UK if you go to a certain National Park where the light pollution is low (like Exmoor, Brecon Beacons, Moore's Reserve in the South Downs, Snowdonia, North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales) you can watch it with the naked eye. there is a map where you can check the lightpollution levels
Average British day
(It’s polluted here too in CA)
That Explosion will be seen in the daytime as well it's a Supernova and it's the closest Supernova to Earth it's going to be interesting and devestating as well it will knock out power anything Electronic
This actually ocured 3,000 years ago !

Oh sure it did. LOL
@@dentontxflatearthguy2903 it did, the star is 3000 light years away, it takes 3000 years for us to realize it exploded. so it actually did happen 3000 years ago, actually research before you comment.

yeah, you will be able to see the star for possibly some weeks
from the scale graphs... it seems it will be visible for atleast a month if not months
@@bp.007iirc it will be a few weeks at most.
From where will it be visible??
@@Ezaweta literally everywhere.
You will need to know where to look to see this star. At maximum magnitude it’ll be about 2nd magnitude for a day or so, about the brightness of Polaris, the Northstar. You won’t even notice it if you don’t know where to look.
It will soon be too close to the sun to observe
It is so far away, the light is just now getting here.
This explosion happened 700 years ago.
Even light has a speed limit.
Sadly, here in Liverpool the sky is so light polluted and clouded out you're lucky if any stars are visible at all. Maybe a scattering of first and second magnitude stars of the winter constellations. No chance in the summer!...
It will be so minor that you would have to know exactly where to look.
true, but... still interesting.

How long would that “brief” visibility be? Minutes? Hours? Days? Weeks? Months?
By the constellation Corona Borealis? Aight
Yes check sky view or night sky but warning night sky is a hard one
@@Grubossofminions ? I know where corona is lol, it's visible where i live.
Turn off all your lights and head to your backyard. Hold your breath and look up to the stars!
That would only work in rural areas, preferably remote. In bigger towns or cities most people don't have their own backyard and wouldn't see stars anyway due to light pollution.
2 months later: Don't hold your breath... ;-)
It's healthier if you breath ;-)
And have fun.
Well, it might still happen. After all, they have done some calculations... Hopefully they have the right data for that...
How long will this brightness last, minutes, hours or days?
For a couple of days
weeks
Good answers !
Months…ha
Years
The one question I didn't hear answered is how long will it last. estimate I mean. The brightness will fade over time, but how long will that take. How many nights would it be as bright as alpha based on the historical data.
The discount code is not working when trying to purchase a MOVA globe.
Didn't they say it's going to be the 50th brightest star in the sky? That's... not even noticeable or eye catching. People won't even notice this thing unless they know exactly where to look, and then it's just like, "Oh yeah. There's a star that's slightly brighter than others... Anyway!"
Thanks 😊
watching this is like saying , i have seen haley (which i did) , so fascinating
I'll be 70 if I get the chance.
i can see a literal super bright star right now in the sky😱😱😱😱
"Once-in-a-lifetime" exploding star expected to be visible before October -- By Brian Lada, Accuweather, May 15, 2024 (UPI Science News)
Within weeks 😂😂 it's now 3months after this was posted and nada. You don't know, come back in December
So cool. Thank you!
T CrB nova will be a magnitude 2 at best. Polaris is a magnitude star. Go look at Polaris tonight and you will know how this "once in a lifetime" T CrB nova will look unless you own a big telescope.
Those globes are so freaking cool but they are actually out of their minds asking for $200
Small copy on eBay $30.
Super nova brings GOLD to planets like EARTH 🤔👍🤑
I've seen the little dipper which is pretty awesome on a clear sky at night 😊
Happened last year wow now happening this year two years in a role wow
row
This star did NOT go Nova last year. As of August 26, 2024, we’re still waiting to see it THIS year.
I’m new to how star explosions work. Is this event going to last a very long time?
Define 'very long time' first.
An explosion doesn't last very long, but the aftermath can. Have you tried doing looking for information via the search engine of your choice?
@@grijzekijker well as in relatively longer than any explosions experienced on earth. Or way longer than experiencing a solar eclipse.
@@javierg4829well, then yes, @ 1:42 they approximate the event to last several days or weeks. If you want to see it with your own naked eye 👀 you need to be aware and look every night when not cloudy for a few minutes. In the information overload and in the cacophony of news items you might miss reports of others having seen it.
If you watched alien when ripley blew up the nostromo you’ll have your answer.
Nicely prepared presentation; astronomers will probably be quite interested in gathering data about this event if it is significantly delayed. It is now early September and the expected window is closing soon. Any official conjecture about how long a delayed flareup could last?
When it can be see brighting at its highest brightness ?? Plz reply
They don't know exactly.
Well, I've been waiting for this event for more than a year now, and I'm still waiting...
It’s crazy just how big space is. All light is history and can travel long distance because space is empty which is why we see stars.
Does the Uranus globe roll instead of rotate?
I'm a bit lost here, the supernova is 3K light years away. Meaning it exploded 3K years ago? So how did astronomers know the supposed "explosion"
I'm 34 and always spent more time outside then in 20ish yr ago I snuck out with some others and seen and exploding star at lik 1a.m. I've dont alotta star staring since then and yet to see that again it light up the sky
that was probably a meteor, they can get insanely bright. Enough to light up the night sky
@@CyCloNeReactorCore ya it was probly that but it was far out cool ive been a star my whole life hope to see another some day
@@zackvoss7868 certainly! im jealous that you were there and i wasnt, I've never even seen a bright meteor before
I had a similar experience 15 years ago when I happened to look up in the night sky of Rock Hill, SC and witnessed a few second long Iridium flare. Startling! Didn’t know what it was but the interwebs soon revealed its origin. Now I know how to spot ‘‘em but have yet to peep another. Thanks for the memory!
I was a kid when I looked through a crappy weak telescope and saw the rings of Saturn, and the red strip[es of Jupiter. They were the tiniest things I'd ever seen but you could see them in detail. I was hooked and been watching the night sky ever since.
The Corona Borealis is one of my favourites, I see it as a royal crown. And when it's my birthday, when I go outside and look up, it is right above me, like it's sitting on my head. Cygnus the Swan and the Summer Triangle, follow it from the east, these constellations are all easy to see and easy to recognize.
how long will the brightness last
3 months later....... 🤔
Good video. I think our star has recurring micro nova's about every 12,000 years. Caused by our solar system passing through the galactic sheet. Dust builds up on our star causing it to micro nova
When exactly will it be visible?
❌ unfit for astronomy.
Come back next year and search for old clips.
If we see it now, doesn't that mean it happened many, many years ago? We can't see things that currently happen to stars. It takes a long time for the light to reach us.
very interesting, so it's an autumn event kinda like this year's "possibly one of greatest comets"
and it should be noticable as a large porion of nearby stars are only magnitude 4 whitch is quite faint
and last but not least, you showned it a bit off :( . . it's actualy 40 arcminutes northward from Alpha CrB whitch is more in line with Delta CrB than what is shown
I rely solely on SOU for such exciting information and what once in a lifetime experience it would be,if could get to watch it!! Thanks for this episode !!✨💫👏🌌❤️

Let us remember how materials gathering on the white dwarf accelerates it's rotational speed while critical mass would slow its rotation once again!
I really hope i see this in wa also last night i turned my humble telescope into a microscope when i was trying to look at the full moon with it but bc it was a cloudy night all i saw was a brightly glowing blur
It’s now Sept and heard nothing about this since the date was published
My problem is that the Big Dipper is reversed in my florida sky. Makes no sense that I would look to the south for the "northern" crown. Is it actually the Little Dipper that I see every night? Only one dipper is in sight.
When I was in Texas in April I could see the big dipper. I photograph night skies normally in Montana. It was just located more to the south than when I am "home". I'm thinking it is same dipoer, different latitude.
3 months now and no SuperNova ! Perhaps in some other LIFETIME ! Sorry, Nova, I was getting it mixed up with Betelgeuse.

3,000 LIGHT years at about 6 trillion mils per LY. I have doubts about this being seen from EARTH in our lifetime?
But how does a white dwarf get paired up with another star? How did the red giant survive the supernova of the other star?
Did this happen last night? July 25, 2024?
My friend got amazing pictures last night in Indiana of a giant explosion looking like a super nova. I can't find any information from officialdom though.
Did you get any info on this?
Everytime we observe something in the night sky its time travel. Amazing.
So why are there 4 explosions over the centuries? ( luke blowing up the death star in our simulation lol)
Doesn’t type I supernova completely destroy the white dwarf leaving no trace of it?
What is the actual name of the song in the background?
Beeteljuice is a Michael Keaton character. Betelgeuse is pronounced exactly as it is spelled., not as beetlejuice.
It’s been 8 weeks. When is this going to happen?
Its been weeks...and weeks.
Any other predictions?
Will this be seen in florida?

Some of y’all might not believe this but I’m just finding this video and i actually seen this explosion
We never see the stars any more. The continuous atmospheric spraying where we live leads to constant cloud cover.
Be sure to bring your tinfoil hat with you when it rains.
@@Yeet42069 cloud seeding is a real thing though
That's the plan. Don't look up
What are you referring to? Cloud seeding (real) or "chemtrails" (not real)?
If you're bothered by contrails then complain to the people who travel by plane because that's the cause for contrails.
Aside from cloud seeding there are many (natural) reasons for cloud cover to exist, have you looked into these?
By the way, even without cloud cover stars often are invisible due to light pollution.
@@MrGrumpyGillsguess the great CON that is climate change is to blame then!?
