They were popular overrall than h.o.t or shinhwa. PLUS, JYP has the producer Bang HitMan, the man who has created amazing ballads and even earned the name "bighit" seeing as everything he produces turns to a bighit.
Appearance speaking, Lee Ha Yi suits YG better than Park Ji Min would. Lee Ha Yi has that really cold and sleepy face even though she's just shy and awkward, whereas Park Ji Min has confidence with a cutesy look. Park Ji Min doesn't really share the same style as the YG family, Lee Ha Yi's cold face is works better with the whole vibe. Not everyone in YG is good looking, but no one looks like anyone you could mess with. Voice wise, honestly they could be successful anywhere.
