Mike. I bet your subs would love to see some pictures of you and Mother when you were dating or first married. Just a thought. Have a great day! Todd the retired trucker
I cannot believe You Tube has un-monetized this video. You Tube if you will tell me what I am doing wrong. I will not do it. The system that is in place now is like staggering around in the dark trying not to bump into things. Come on You Tube y'all are better than this.
No they AIN'T. If they were, they'd have let you know what the rules was, without making up arbitrary rules out of thin air, or ether. That's where they come from, way out in the ether, past Neptune outch chonder...????!!!!
Happy Mike + Happy Mother = Happy World! I have sure trimmed alot of houses with popular. It is pretty wood and easy to work with both. Great Video, Mike! Take Care!
Mike you sure are in a jolly mood today! you sound like you are feeling better as well. I knew that was a 6 cylinder Detroit. I operated overseas container machines with Detroit's at the CN railway. You could really hear it working when you were lifting a container with 60,000 pounds in it. You never forget that sound after 8 hours a day and 10 years operating them.
Good people. I am going to visit this summer and pick up some materials from your mill. I want to support your business. Best wishes for a healthy and productive spring.
The mill here was a 4-71 made in 1950 or 52 and still runs. It's a 2-valve and I think the 6 is a 4 and she'll HUMM! Like yours when it gets a saw full, and that saw was SHARP! The zaust pipe was a driveshaft run above the roof on the mill. I lived half way between where I am now and where I grew up. I could hear every knot that GM went through and the edger and cut off. They finally got a truck with a live tandem instead of the 800 Fodr. It was an IH gas job with a 5x4. Then was still some good timber and chestnut soggs and they got a poplar out that 3 logs made a LOAD on that tandem. They took them somewhere else to be sawed. Maybe to Maggie. I'm allergic to the dye in mri's and cat scans and that's what laid me up from june/july right on through the winter till about a month nd a half ago. If you can't go you'll get weak anyway. You don't have to have cancer and God Willing, you'rs is GONE! I lost 2 Uncles with it and a whole bunch of cousins. There's a streak of it on my granny's side. So far I'm like the old guy in the 'Ransom of Red Chief' that had nothing chronic other than malaria and accidents. GBWYall!
I worked around 671's, 871's, and several 53 series engines in the fishing fleets here in Alaska, my favorite was an old 671 grey marine. They might come home with a piston removed and laying on the deck plates, but they always brought you home.
Happy Kimo work`in well for you Mike....we use to make hat wagon racks with poplar....as long as they stayed dry they`d last a long time....good sawing....CHEERS
@@mmccoy577 we got 10' of snow today and more on the way. Oh it is cold for sure. Lots of ice on Geogian Bay. You and the misses keep up the good work.
I sure do like watching you saw. I'd like to see that edger run at some time too. I was given some American elm by a tree service guy today. Some big logs and some nice sized logs and some firewood sized. Thanks for another good video.
Like that mineral stained poplar. Got a buddy asking me for some stained for turkey calls but all that I cut is clear. You had mother and Paul working hard. Glad your feeling good. Keep the videos coming Mike.
As I've mentioned in the past, I love the stories. Logger Wade is absolutely one of my favorites to watch. The Poplar is beautiful that purple figure was amazing, I do agree the darker stuff looks like walnut. Amen brother it is a miracle, God is good, its great to hear the bladder cancer is gone.
Thanks for the video.I really like watching/hearing your mill work. I would like to see you do a video "sawing for grade".I know that it would be a big investment but I hope that you do get a new saw. That heart wood on the butt log would be beaut iful.Really proud that I found your channel-you deserve all the subscribers you have and will get.Best day ever.Thank you Paul, you too.
Congrats on 3,000 subs, well deserved! I found you through Jerry Rosa, glad I did. I know nothing about sawmills, but, I love watching it. .and, I adore you and Mother.
Glad you are all happy. I don't know anything about mills, but I thought if he throws that log over those rails it is going to be kind of hard to fish back up. Thanks for the videos.
Grand video Mike, love to watch you guys running the mill. Love those Detroit diesel. Drove a G M C with a 318 in it . Beautiful poplar. Love talking to you too. Planning on making a trip down in the fall. " Fans from Mi. "
Good to watch y again, I've been laying in the hospital myself few days had a gastric sleeve done for weight loss, Lots of pain alright,, Glad to hear you're feeling better.
I thought I heard that saw making a different sound that I hadn’t heard since I’ve been watching your channel. I sure like the looks of poplar lumber. It’s pretty wood and easy to work with. Hate to see RUclips demonetized this video. I don’t get it. Another good one Mike. Mother you keep him lined out on that waste.
Mike thanks for the video. I agree with you on Stevie I don’t know him personally but I can tell he is a stand up guy. I don’t like it when the commentators on Wades channel bash him but it’s my own fault for reading the comments. Weather looks great down there 👍🏻
I can so sympathize with Mother...it just seems a waste to cut all them 1 x 10s into 6 inch boards. But, an order for 6 inch boards is likely to NEVER come through the door when you have a pile of 15 inch logs...
Vc ê muito bom. Seus trabalho ê de primeira. O que atrapalha é este vidro fosco na frente de serra. Nos queremos ver sem refrescos. Blz . Abraços. Caete mg Brasil
Im curious if you're cutting those large slabs that will later be stacked up and cut into boards, why not continue cutting the big slabs till you're done versus flipping it and cutting singles? Or is this proper quarter sawing?
Negate some call it rainbow poplar. It can get pretty wild but uv light will cause it to fade quickly. I've seen it range widely in colors from yellows, oranges, browns, purples, blues, and black hues

There's something unpolished and 'reel' about your vids Mike. When it catches on, and it will, it will grow fast.

A lot of us watch a channel about sawing wood to hear about different cuts , And types of wood etc. If you get my drift. Read between the lines.
You should try some Meta 7. I have and I have lots of energy.
I believe you would have stalled that Detroit out had that been a big white oak at that pace.
I'm curious about how much a 4" slab of that wide poplar would be..??? How wide and long was that one???
Our best live edge slabs are 24 inches by 8 foot. A 2X4X8 poplar usually runs about $105.00 if really nice wood.Less if not as nice.
Mike ,you should try chaga, natures best antioxident and it's said to help with the ill effect's of kemo.check it out here on youtube.
this remainds me what i us to do back in the sixtes
gm diesel 671 signing
Im curious if you're cutting those large slabs that will later be stacked up and cut into boards, why not continue cutting the big slabs till you're done versus flipping it and cutting singles? Or is this proper quarter sawing?
That is just the way I do it
Quarter sawing is splitting the log into 4 quarters then sawing the quarters separately
was that blue in the grain of the wood? pretty indeed
Poplar can get purple/black in the Heartwood.
It is very pretty wood.
Negate some call it rainbow poplar. It can get pretty wild but uv light will cause it to fade quickly. I've seen it range widely in colors from yellows, oranges, browns, purples, blues, and black hues
hi, what is the thickness of the saw blade tooth?
