Thanks for another great recipe. Question, everytime I've eaten pumpernickle bread it has had a taste of dill in it? Have you ever tried this in the recipe? Another thing that I do to rise my bread is that I lay the pans or bowl on a heating pad on warm. Works well especially in the cold winter months. Take care...love your channel.
Thank you Garry for your message and wonderful tip, I've never had pumpernickel bread with dill in it, the heating pad tips is wonderful for winter for sure. I'm glad you enjoyed our recipe and have a wonderful day. :) Bonita
Thank you for showing your pumpernickel bread recipe. I will be making it tomorrow. I have a question about the flour. Did you blend your flour. Can I use a 50/50 blend of rye and white whole wheat or do I have to buy a multi grain flour.
Yes that will work great, thank you so much for stopping by and if you make our bread recipe tomorrow send us a picture at bonitakitchen@gmail.com we would love to see your bread. :) Enjoy Bonita
Bonita - Hello from Victoria, BC! I love your videos, we toured your grand province last summer and fell in love. Our roots are in Colchester Co Nova Scotia so there are a lot of cross overs to dishes I grew up with. Question - do you treat the 3 little loaves/buns as one loaf and make slices or do you tend to separate them as separate little loaves? I love the look of the bread shaped that way. We used to do a baked spinach dip that was very similar to what you mixed up - we just hollowed out the baked loaf (cutting it like a jack-o-lantern with a smaller lid than you did), brushed the inside with butter, filled it with the dip (with cream cheese mixed in) cover with the bread lid and brushed the whole thing with butter and bake until the inside as bubbly. It is an amazing treat :)
Hi Janet, Thank you for your message and for enjoying our NEW recipe today, our traditional bread is usually three little loaves so I make all my bread this way, you can serve the little buns or just cut in slices for the table. The spinach dip is a cold dip but I do like your HOT dip recipe and I will be giving it a try when we finally can get to see family. Thank you so much for leaving a lovely message and I'm glad you got to visit our great province before the pandemic and please God we will be able to travel again some day. :) Enjoy our NEW recipe today and stay safe. :) Bonita
Bonita I LOVE your bread recipes! I make both the white and wheat regularly. I don't buy store bread anymore. I want to make this recipe but I have bread flour, all purpose, rye,and whole wheat. I stocked up and I don't have multigrain. Can you tell me how to mix what I have to make this bread? Then I can use what I have. I have all the other ingredients. Thank you so much for wonderful recipes!

If I don't have multigrain flour where I live, but I have bread flour, medium rye flour, dark rye flour, whole wheat flour what ratio of the flours would I use to make the 4 1/3 cups???
Hi and thank you for stopping by, use 1 cup per flour type. If you are only making a half batch, using 4 cups of flour in total. I cup of each type of flour you are asking about....Then follow the method on our recipe for the method. Enjoy Bonita
Hi Bonita, I was very interested in your pumpernickel bread. I can’t seem to find multigrain flour in my local stores or online. I am in Eastern Michigan. Is there a brand I should look for?
Thank you Richard, I'm glad you enjoyed our recipe and maybe look for a Robin Hood brand, but if you mix whole wheat flour, rye, ground oatmeal, I'm sure that will work for you as well. Let me know and enjoy. :) Bonita
could you use blackstrap molasses? If I do should I increase the amount of brown sugar??? or would blackstrap molasses make the bread bitter tasting???
Hi and thank you for stopping by, blackstrap molasses is not as sweet and got a stronger flavour. But this recipe got 1 and 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar and that would be lot's. This is not a sweet bread but if you wish to add a little more it would be totally ok. Enjoy Bonita
@@home-cookedandhomemade6295 If thats the only molasses you have it is ok to use it. The recipe is for 1/4 cup molasses and you can warm it a little first so its not so thick. If you don't mine the taste, it is a bitter molasses then regular. But for the about that is used in this recipe shouldn't change the taste much. I've only used the regular molasses in my baking. This is not a sweet bread but if you are afraid to use 1/4 cup, use two tablespoons of molasses and a extra tbsp of brown sugar. Follow up after you make it and let me know. Enjoy :) Bonita
Haha so great, I know what you mean, I don't own a freezer so I give all my extra baking away to family and friends before the pandemic. Hi and thank you for your message, I'm sure that will work great maybe dissolve it in a little warm water first to have the same consistency as molasses. and butter milk will work to replace the regular milk, please follow up with me after you have made your bread, my email is bonitakitchen@gmail.com :) Bonita
Bonita what size is this bowl?
Hi Bonita, I was very interested in your pumpernickel bread. I can’t seem to find multigrain flour in my local stores or online. I am in Eastern Michigan. Is there a brand I should look for?
Thank you Richard, I'm glad you enjoyed our recipe and maybe look for a Robin Hood brand, but if you mix whole wheat flour, rye, ground oatmeal, I'm sure that will work for you as well. Let me know and enjoy. :) Bonita
@@bonitaskitchen Thank You.
Yummy
Thank you :) Bonita
could you use blackstrap molasses? If I do should I increase the amount of brown sugar??? or would blackstrap molasses make the bread bitter tasting???
Hi and thank you for stopping by, blackstrap molasses is not as sweet and got a stronger flavour. But this recipe got 1 and 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar and that would be lot's. This is not a sweet bread but if you wish to add a little more it would be totally ok. Enjoy Bonita
@@bonitaskitchen so blackstrap molasses is ok to use right? but will it chage the taste of the bread???
Is ingredient Pumpernickel hard to locate?
You had me until the cocoa- allergic! And it was sounding so good too!
Try some instant coffee - maybe not quite as much as the cocoa
How do a clear some room in my freezer?
Haha so great, I know what you mean, I don't own a freezer so I give all my extra baking away to family and friends before the pandemic. So now my moms freezer is full and she is wondering how she is going to eat everything. :) So funny, please god we will be back to normal soon and life will be great again. Enjoy and stay safe. :) Bonita
