It never fails to amaze me that when you drill down to the foundations of every successful farm that there has always been strong women who in times of set backs and struggle take the reins , hold it together and pave the way for family success. Great stuff.

I find it interesting when you speak of their start into farming, due to not liking to further your education elsewhere. I find this network of sharing and consulting seems to be more effective. The community supports each other by techniques, new breeds, technology, and even tricks of the trades. Fed by Farmers is for me the podcast I enjoy every week as I love the information and the community.

Good to hear that sheep farmers are still using turnips aka swedes as a forage. When I was younger so many crofters would have an acre or 2 planted with them for January, February forage.

The whole grazing segment at around 45 min was really interesting. I’ve watched Joel Salatin and Richard Perkins for a few years now and their systems of which animal follow which and when is very interesting. Especially as it directly improves the soil health and reduces pest pressure.

Pleasure to hear his story and views.
You did right about the shelter to give you a better chance with your multiples.
I expect some volume since you struggled for space last year.
You change up the feed, you can avoid health issues waiting..
Hope Sandi can offer a few points to watch with a larger lot under roof.
    Enjoy your week 🦋🌻

Great podcast 👏👏👏 love hearing about successful farming stories and getting into the numbers. It’s easy Cammy, run as many big ewes that you know you can easy get a lambing shed for and have all the rest all these easier ultimate sheep to punch out big numbers. Good luck 😜

Another thing to consider between the 2 systems is the cull ewe price between the 2. Big texel x ewe could be £200 as a cull what’s an easycare? Never seen any sold

If you have one of Graeme’s great tops, you need to keep back some of his boys from the easiest lambers. Then you grow a better quality top that you aren’t paying extra for.

If you don't have enough grass it's a good alternative and turnips have good nutrients for livestock.

I'm inclined to agree with Cammy. Horses and bikes are dangerous. I rode when I was younger, my daughter doesn't do horses or bikes. So many kids with bad injuries from bike riding. Broken arms, femur, concussion. I know of a girl who came off dirt biking, hit head first into a tree and died.
At least most horses have a sence of self preservation.
