In response to "ending the meat industry would hurt the economy and ruin people's livelihoods" I would say: vegans want to improve the lives of animals (including humans), so if we ever got our way, then yes, animal agriculture would end and jobs would be lost, but also, our "way" also includes improving human lives and expanding human rights, so the loss of those jobs would not plunge those people into poverty.

The disconnect. Society has been deeply conditioned that specific species animals aren't having an experience of their own and ingrained with the notion that animal ag is humane. He's gonna have to look into it himself, and analyze the morality of it to finally undo the conditioning. 6 yrs ago, I was doing research into veganism after a tense discussion with my buddy (who has been vegan much longer than me) and I remember thinking that it wss unbelievable that so many people could hold the wrong ethical stance. I watched animal ag footage that night, and I imagined if that were my dog in that scenario. It was around that point when the ethical magnitude of it all hit me.

That guy sounds depressed; he was ok with being needlessly killed for pleasure, appealed to futility and admitted he is a follower and just doing what everyone else tells him to do. Sounds like someone who isn't loving life. You did everything you could Joey, good job, you may have planted a much needed seed. Maybe if he better understands veganism he will find purpose again.
think about if he had a vegan in his life telling him what to do? Would he be vegan? A lot of people are like him - it seems those who eat meat just let circumstances dictate their ations - never rising above the whim of the world and handling their own life. Just letting others run their life - someone needs to give him the news that he can live a free life.
Yes and your a psychologist are you?
I don't think so . He is a different type of human and he loves life in a different way than you. Actually I respect a guy that admitted that he is a follower.

@papamike88 my comment comes from a place of concern, not criticism.
these are the types of people that I grew up with that would be proud of doing the wrong thing - just doing something without thought or care. Even when they're wrong they get cockier and arrogant, feeding off of people's anger and misery that they're causing them. This is why I won first place in every competition when I was a kid - anyone who gave an inkling of a thought would sidesweep them in a minute! Too easy.
Such an inspiring and chill and wholesome video. Thank you for sharing 😊

The jobs lost from switching to a fully plant based food system is debatable. Many jobs would be created to fulfill the new demand for plant based foods!
Great outreach, Joey. Probably one of your best, even though the guy walked off with not much change of heart.
To be fair, he was a gentleman, was very polite and honest with his answers. Unfortunately couldn't get through to him this time but I think he could if he sees his friends start to go vegan

That's his life and his choice. He was honest and for that I respect the guy.
@@papamike88 respect him? For being honest? He doesn’t seem very honest to himself! He is admitting to not taking even a second of his time to sit in silence with himself and really see what he himself thinks about something (outside of cultural norm). He contracts himself and his own beliefs by not wanting dogs to be murdered and eaten but he is ok with pigs. He completely disrespects himself by not being honest with himself.
@@roselaura-gracesing4968 He was able to admit who he is . Being able to admit that he is a follower, not somebody special is something that I always respect because that takes some courage to do it.
It's been 4 years now for me. And when I see that none of my friends have made a step towards veganism, not even agreeing upon its value as a compassionate way to live but rather they mock or have arguments against it whenever it comes up, it can feel rather disheartening. Well.. they do eat vegan food with me some times, but its mainly for health reasons so yeah..
But I know Veganism is the right thing, the so called extreme position to be neutral towards animals and not subject them to a cruel life, and I'm very proud of all Vegans, because sometimes we do stand alone on this animal rights issue. I just wish that it won't take too long for them to understand.
Keep it up Joey, I know you won't let them discourage you ❤
@@rondarkman. I may have made my friends sound like not real friends.. but they are. And I admire them on many things, just not on their stance on Veganism. I am sure its the conditioning of theirs and their detachment from animals that makes it so hard for them to realise.

But we do live in a non vegan world

@@rondarkman. news for you, all words are made up.
@@rondarkman. the fact that it won't be accepted makes my argument stronger. Look around and see how many people also deny systemic racism.
@@rondarkman. why not? All animals value their lives just as much as you do yours.
That's probably how most people think, even if they don't say it directly. But being honest is the first step to reflection I guess
The speciesism and cognitive dissonance is frightening !
People always answer the tough questions they get asked in the most wild way to make sure they don't caught in their contradiction. "Yes, I'd kill a human for fun if it were legal"
Keep them coming Joey. Thank you ❤

Hive mind mentality. Is all good and games but when the "reaping" start you would not be relieved that those around you also suffer. You will be experiencing/balancing your own seeds/deeds. What I mean if you have a terrible head splitting headache, it will not help the pain at all if you were surrounded by many with the same unbearable headache as yours. People are sooo stubborn!!!! How can your sense of taste pleasure, possibly be more important than a life??? It’s wrong to eat an animal. It doesn’t want to die for your sandwich!!! 😩
Great work Joey, as always!!
