@tripmisterman youtube time is slightly different from ingame time (with every game I've ever known, countdowns are different). and TAP stands for Tool Assisted (not too sure what the P is, someone else said it was Pwnage). It means they play the game frame by frame, instead of full speed like we do.

I still have a Vanilla Wii so you'll need to ask elsewhere. I think that the majority of the TAP's (and TAS's) are done on a computer though. Just ask around and find some recent NSMBWii TAS's.

You might be able to pull off some cool techs with a good enough Directional Influence but the amount seen in this video is at a superhuman rate. You would need to be able to mash the control sticks more than ten times a second and have perfect reflexes.
