Turned on Sonic CD on steam and used OBS to record the DA Garden for 10 minutes or so. I use a program called deskscapes. It allows you to have videos like mp4 as a background for your computer

I managed to change Peter Pan's tunic to green in the Genesis version of Hook, but now a whole lot of the sprites are green, even cherries and the blond hair of the Lost Boys. Core, the people who ported the game to the Genesis, probably should have diversified just a little bit.

Thanks really helpful but demands a lot of time/steps to change 1 sprite. Do you know a tool that can modify color ram on the fly ? Like a Hive pal but with sprite previewing ? That would be awesome.
Bizhawk is really useful for editing RAM on the fly, but I don't personally use it for color editing (though it is something you can do if you find where the RAM is getting the color palettes from).
I know some sources, but I've never done so myself. While it is possible, it does take a lot of time to learn and I have no idea if it's possible for every game. There are some things that might help your case. The segaretro link is a page that gives some basic info about sega genesis rom hacking in general. The Romhacking link is a list of downloadable utilities that can be used to hack genesis games. Very useful video. :) Thank you so much. I been giving these programs a go to romhack Lemmings for the MegaDrive without an issue, and testing it out on real hardware as well.
Right click on the game you're trying to fix the checksum to and click "Properties". On the bottom, it should show at least 2 Attributes. "Read-Only" and "Hidden". If the Read-Only option is Checked, then you have to uncheck it by clicking on it then hit Apply and Ok. My bad for the late response. I didn't get a notification of your comment for some reason. If this doesn't work then I'm not sure what the issue is yet.
@@Wukong2424 Okay I got it working for myself and didn't bump into the issue you had. For now my only answers are two things. 1. Check the Properties of the Rom file and make sure the "Read-Only" is not on. It's at the bottom of the "General" tab and the white box should be empty. 2.Get Hivepal from the segaretro website itself instead of the link in my description. segaretro.org/HivePal Let me know if this works for you so I can update the description. @@Aszaxa Thanks man it worked! I had to remove "read only" and now the pallette loaded! But now the checksum keeps giving the error "File is Read Only" even though i removed that option.
0:39 I don't remember, but as said in this part, you can change the .gen or .md into .bin for this method to work. Edit: Yeah so mines was .gen and I changed it to .bin. I had to take another look at the files again.
Um.....I'm not sure. I mean you can always do it on the computer and then drag the modified rom onto the android. Unless you mean ACTUALLY doing the entire method on android. It would need some way to emulate a pc with windows or something. I don't mess with phones a lot so that's my best answer for now.

Congrats....in years i try to change genesis roms and all time....fails....now works like charm!

Unfortunately I don't. This video is specifically for changing colors only, not for changing sprites/images.

"Get Pallet from Rom" does not load anything. Seems i get "Access Denied" even when i open the rom as Administrator
Can you tell me what the rom file type is? Like is it .bin or .gen or something of the sort? region of the game too just in case.

I don't see why not. Though it isn't something I ever tried with genesis games, it should work.
