I find both of them to be entertaining and engaging in their own separate ways. This fine gentleman gave us a classic depiction of Sun Wukong that’s loyal to the novel. His performance was that of an actual monkey. Cheung gave us a more comedic and cool depiction of Sun Wukong with elements of anime. Nonetheless, both of their performances brought popularity to their shows.
If we talking about the 1996 and not the 2003 then im on the same boat 🤣😅 I honestly believe the 1986 is the faithful and his acting of the monkey is more cute and lovable, but dicky cheung's portrayal in the 1996 was much more arrogant, badass, and fearless. Imagine if dicky had a chance to finish it and not quit halfway due to scheduling issues, he would be on par with Liu
Dark Crow I agree...though 1996 changed so much of the story and did their own thing. That’s like if they made a live adaptation series of Dragonball Z and not make it faithful to the story.

@@dehongliu5684 yeah, like for Iron Man 1, the director use real metal pieces to create the armor, that's why the movement of the suit is so real, because it's real. But they started to use CGI when the franchise go on, so the Iron Man suit sometime look like a cartoon picture
