I built two tower speakers back in the 80's. Everyone that seen and heard them were awe struck of the design and the sound, and most of the speakers were salvaged from other speakers, except for the horns, and I did this back when I was working 10-12 hour shifts 6 days a week, and I still had time to build it. The only reason I stopped doing these kinds of things is that I no longer have my workshop. This is a lot easier than you think, but people are right, it is now better to buy a Bluetooth speaker especially portable with a battery. I have been running JBL's paired with my other computer for years, and the nicest thing is being able to grab both JBLs and take them anywhere in the house while they are playing music from the computer. On my main computer I have Pioneer DJs with Bluetooth which are nice, but the speakers are wired, so you just can't grab them and move them around and they are constantly plugged in, meaning you just grab and go easily. More or less I regret buying them now.
To everyone saying it sounds terrible: You do realize first this was recorded on a mic, then filtered by RUclips, then played on your most likely shit phone speaker. I have some suggestions: - add damping material to the satellites and the subwoofer. It will improve the sound quality. - mount the amplifier in a better way....now its just hanging on its knobs How is the amplifier? Previous versions where very noisy. And is there was a big plopping noise when you switch on the power supply. Is this one improved?

People, as long as you build a subwoofer enclosure to spec of the subwoofer, and build a port properly sized and tune to the Box, it will sound great! There is no need for polyfill or any insulation. Especially if you are building enclosures extremely close to proper specifications. Putting shit inside of your enclosure means you lose internal volume, granted polyfill doesn't take up much volume. Normal cabinet speakers that are in a sealed enclosure *should* have polyfill on the inside. That's not a recommendation it's almost a standard at this point. But any subwoofer or enclosure that is ported does NOT need any insulation. It's an extra step that is not needed and does not improve quality of sound. The thing that improves quality of sound the most is ample air room and a good sounding amplifier and speaker combo. If you have shity equipment, even with the perfect enclosure, you will have shity sound. If you have decent equipment and a really good enclosure you will have a decent sound. That goes the same the other way around, you can have the best equipment in the world but if you don't have the knowledge to build a proper enclosure it will sound like garbage.

everyone complaining about how bad the sound is. from what I can hear on my monitors it's just the mic picking up tons of reverberation from the room and soft clipping the mic quite a lot. and then the translation onto your system could make the sound you hear way off from what you hear in person. Microphones can never reproduce the true sound that speakers make it person :) And honestly pretty good components in the stereo speakers and a lower end subwoofer driver it wouldn't sound the best but wouldn't sound the worst. Meanwhile only spending 80$ on a set of speakers that would compare to a 200$ set of logitechs. also with a few modifications, these could sound WAY better! @@randomweirdyoutubechannel8955 It takes two people to pick up and transport each of these speakers. I did have to repair the 15" woofers at one point in time several years ago. The out rubber rings that connect the paper cone to the metal chassis, had begun to literally turn to dust. But it only cost about $27 to purchase the ring replacements, which came with the glue, etc. Anyhow, I built those speakers in 1977. As for the rest of the stuff, you see my Soundcraftsmen PE-2217 audio equalizer from 1978, my 1978 AKAI 630D open reel to reel tape recorder, my 1977 Heathkit audio power amplifier, my 1977 YAMAHA CT-800 AM/FM Tuner, the 1977 Pioneer PL510 record player that is positioned just above the DENON CD player just out of the picture view, plus the black 1987 DENON DCD-900 CD player itself. All of these devices are still up and working right here in the year 2020. It just blows my mind that despite most of them being 42-43 years old, they still keep on going. Only minor repairs were required, such as me having to oil the DENON CD player worm gears to stop it from skipping while playing. And of course there is my 10 year old SAMSUNG LN32C350D1DXZC 32" TV. It quit working at one point, but it was an easy repair that took about an hour and required no new parts. I just had to clean some internal electrical connector contacts that had oxidized a bit.
