    I put down my violin after playing every piece and I haven't had any trouble with physical pain. Bad intonation, on the other hand, causes me considerable emotional pain ;-) Thanks for your wonderful video clips!

      Dear Tim, yes after a long hours violin playing, most of us get a bit of pain everywhere including the neck. But stretchings afterwards helps a lot. I hope you can try it.

    Thank you for the lesson Joy and thank you for sharing your story about jaw tension! My jaw and teeth used to hurt a lot too, but I haven't really had any neck and shoulder pains because of your previous videos and I still remember your advice to use the cork, but I haven't done it in a while. Stay safe and warm!

    A humorous video for a serious topic, it made me smiling! :-) I find it very helpful, as it's quite easy to develop bad habits and it's important to be aware of this and re-adjust. Thank you so much!
    Btw., if I do not develop a hicky, do I not practice enough? ;-)

    • @JoyLeeViolin
      @JoyLeeViolin  3 года назад

      Glad you enjoyed it Johannes! the hicky mark is not necessarily the sign of proper violin practising. So no need to worry about it :) Happy violin playing!

    Personally I use a neck strap to hold the violin. It's maybe frowned upon but holding a piece of wood for hours only with your neck is not really natural and that's what should be important! It's a shame the violin has evolved into being one of the most uncomfortable instrument to play.
    I regret the baroque era: people were playing with the violin put on their left elbow then!
