  • The University of Batangas High School Dance Troupe's inteerpretation of JOTA BATANGUENA. The boys - Lance Roy Aolfo, Christian Dave Evangelista, Jerick Quinio, Mark Joseph Magadia and Norvin Parto. The girls - Beatriz Balmes, Myren Cantos, Camille Cedie Garcia , Sherry Lou Garcia, Nicole Ealoise Cantos, and Kaeth Louis Estrada. Adviser - Mr. Redentor S. Rodriguez

    The boys are so graceful and handsome. Very well rehearsed. You could tell by the way they move their hands and do the step-brush steps. The girls have stage presence and are lovely to look at.

    Watched this again after 2 years and I can't get over how good they are. These kids must be adults now and I hope that they are all successful in life. The discipline to learn and perform at this level is amazing. Great job to the choreographer/s, wardrobe people and of course the dancers.

    We used to teach our students folk dances in Physical Education Classes regardless of their economic status.

    Not taking away from other Philippine Jotas I’ve watched, this is my favorite. Well rehearsed, and can see some attention to detail. I understand the ‘kids’ who performed are now adults. I think they did this dance justice. I watched this with a smile. Thank you for posting

    Wrong interpretation of the dance. Jotas are the dance of the rich people in the Philippines during the old times. They were not farm workers or peasants.

      That’s how the Batanguenos danced their Jota.. even the farmers at that time were inspired by the “rich Filipinos” who danced jota.
