- On May 29, 2019, I paid a visit to The Hovercraft Museum in Lee-On-the-Solent, England. This is a video 'walk-through' of the museum. After leaving this museum, I went over to nearby Portsmouth to the historic dockyards and watched a military marching band 'tattoo' (see my video of that), and then went back there the next day to visit some of the historic sailing ships that are docked there (see my other video of that).
Thanks for posting. Never had an opportunity to make it to England and visit the museum. With your video, I feels as though I was there.
Loved this! Never knew such a place existed. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
In “Diamonds are Forever” (1971) at 16:00 there is a Seaspeed Hovercraft in motion. Looks like a wonderful experience.
Reports are the ride was choppy and there was little view out the windows due to spray, but it was the fastest way across the Channel.
Bought back memories of travelling on some of these to isle of Wright and Calais. Like was said about the isle of Wright, most people use boats for holiidays, but when you live on an island like myself they're a way of life and just use them as a commute.
Great video
I live in the UK, not near Hampshire, and had often wondered where all the hovercraft went to! I didn't know this place existed! When I was based in Portsmouth, I'd see the 'fives' shuttling back and to from Southport ramp, near the pier, to the Isle of Wight, but never got the chance to ride on one.
Don't you mean Southsea?
@@philipdormer9434 - OOPS! Southport on the mind at the time, my Sis had just moved there! Southsea it was, near the pier! - It took long enough for anyone to notice!
Fantastic tour! Amazing place....!
@youtuuba >>> The hovercraft shown at 31:44 looks similar to the type the US military briefly deployed in Vietnam in either the late 1960s or very early 1970s.
The one used in Vietnam had only one drive propeller, IIRC. {Presumably the one at 42:14 in the video.}
According to Google and Wiki, The Bond movie with the ‘Mountbatten-class’ hovercraft, 'Seaspeed', was "Diamonds Are Forever". with Sean Connery in 1971.
Love your videos. Are any railroad videos in GB in the making?
Ah, ... this one really 'floats my boat' :)
43:54 Beatles!
I’m interested: while you’re in the area are you going to have a walk round the D day museum? It’s quite interesting from what I’ve heard
Well, you are a bit late with your question. This visit was at the end of May and it is now July, and I am not still in the area. However, I did not have time to visit the D-Day museum. I only had three days for discretionary tourist visiting activities, and was traveling with others who have their own expectations and desires. Perhaps I will visit there sometime, but it would be at least 4 years away......
very cool !
I went to the hovercraft museum in June 2019.
Is there anything about the titanic near by
I don't know if there is.....I did not see anything when I searched for local attractions.
💛💛💛🍸🍸
I never hear you laugh. Do it! Just once! "Three men in a skirt" was funny!
Watch my video on Doune Castle. Not only is this one of the few videos that shows me, but I also break out laughing in the opening scene.
