I don't think we needed Winston to remind us that it's cool to be able to throw deep, that is pretty much the consensus, even though that "cannon arm"/"deep threat" thing is somewhat overrated imho, (I'll take accuracy, or reading the defense well, over "super strong arm" all the time). As for Brees, in this game, everybody seems to forget he had his ribcage pretty much crushed a few weeks ago. That might have played a role, and if so the Saints weren't going to advertise it before the game. @@WapitalismandWreedom I beg to differ : Brady played this cautious, unspectacular way in many games, dozens of times, literally :You take what the opposing defense gives, avoid risk, trust your own defense, capitalize on short field opportunities. He actually lost some games that way but won many more. He has been on record for years saying that wins are the result of a global effort, but that QB mistakes are usually game killers. This is what Tampa Bay signed for : a ludicrously experienced QB who will manage and fine tune the offense like nobody else. The rest is up to all the other of Tampa Bay players : you think you are good enough to win a Super Bowl ? Here is your shot ! When all is said and done the QB account for 15% to 20% of the global output of a team. (which is why the QB-centric punditry out there is mostly irrelevant to understand what happened in games)
@@marcmarco5373 he completed barely 50% of his throws for most of the game and had at least 2 passes that should've been picked. What game did people in the comments watch, the whole first half the bucs were playing the saints and the refs who were trying to hand the game to the saints. This gives Bill a few years to really study and prepare for the long haul for Patrick... Depending on how long he coaches for ... Hopefully a lot longer ... From a Pat's fan
Colin if you look at the THROWS that Brady was making yesterday you will see that he was STEPPING INTO HIS THROWS. When He didn't have a open receiver or could not escape the rush, he TOOK the Sack instead of throwing the ball up for grabs. Brees did NOT look old. Take a look at the TURN OVERS the Saints had. The first interception Drew threw was an ARM THROW when he had to roll out and tried to make a play. He didn't step into his throw and got a PICK. The Interception that WHITE made was because he could see where Drew was going to throw the ball, got in front of the receiver and picked it off. There was another turnover when the ball was batted up in the air and intercepted. The last interception was on Drew Brees. Brady played smarter than Drew Brees. He only had one interception that I recall but it didn't cost him the game.
Tom was off on a few throws, but overall he had a 92 rating, the same rating Mahomes had vs the same defense. Both had 3 total TDs, Mahomes had 50 more yards on 14 more passes. Yesterday, Brady and Mahomes both had a 75 QBR. So if Brady was good, Mahomes was good yesterday as well. If Brady was bad, then Mahomes was bad too. Remember, Evans could not get open, Godwin could not, Gronk could not and AB was out in the 2nd half. Tom was making some tight throws and not throwing the ball to wide open guys like Kelce or Hill.
Colin Cowherd on Jameis Winston: ‘In New Orleans, he’s the guy that can throw deep and stuff’ -Colin basically throwing shade at Brees’ inability to throw farther than 10 yards 💀
I have said this for 6 years, there are two kinds of football fans 1) Those that admit Brady is the greatest to ever play the game 2) Those WHO WILL NEVER admit Brady is great, let alone the greatest ever...these are the haters, and the haters have been digging in their heels and closing their eyes and blocking their ears more and more every year.
Keep in mind tho, baker led a lot of potential scoring drives early that were cut short with stupid penalties or even drops. If the team didn’t keep shooting themselves in the foot they would have been right there with them even before Mahomes went out

To be fair, 2018 and 2019 brees didn't hurt their efforts in the playoffs. 2020, I don't recall. This year, I would argue the Cook fumble changed the momentum of the game, and overall Brees had a poor game, as did Brady.

I think that the rule that needs to be changed is NOT that one. The one that needs to be changed is the one whereas the team who has fumbled the ball gets it back if its rolls outside the playing field. THIS is the "anomaly" ! You LOST control of the ball and nothing bad happens to you ? That's nonsense and it goes against the fundamental principle of the game : you advance by the controlling ball and keeping it on the field !!! When you fumble the ball and can't get it back (recover it in the playing field) you have lost it and the other team should have it at the point where it exited the field. That way, the current rule giving the ball to the other team as in a touchback when a fumble exit out of the end zone, would merely be the logical application of a global rule in force at all time : a fumble that gets out of the field results in a turnover.
@@marcmarco5373 no that one makes perfect sense. You want to take the ball away you actually need to take the ball. Next you will say an incomplete that bounces and is caught by the defense off the ground should count as an interception since there should be some sort of penalty for not catching it on offense... The touchback is to penalize anyone trying to roll the ball through the end zone for a TD on purpose. You can’t award a ball to someone who never had it
Colin is really pushing this narrative that New England isn't suffering from massive deficiencies across the board, and Brady leaving for an organization with better talent, and staff everywhere doesn't matter.
Brady is one of the if not the greatest leader we've ever had in Tampa, but you cant discount the 4 crucial turnovers our defense had that WON us the game. Either way boy am I glad we brought Brady in, much needed culture change.
Point in favor a Brady is the way he closed out the game when they had the ball up 7. Many QBs find a way to turn the ball over or go 3 and out giving the opposing team a chance to win. Tom did not give the Saints the opportunity.

Especially since the Packers and Chiefs have only had to win one game so far this post season. Bring on the hate comments!! I won't respond or care! Hahaha!
Dude...the defense bailed him out big time !!!Nomatter,we can all agree he can will his team to win !
Breeze gave them 2 easy interceptions. So the defense has to not a catch an interception for you to say Tom did a good job? That’s so dumb. You would come up with some other reason to hate on him
Tom Brady played well, but the defense gave him all the oportunities. I love Tom BRady but the defense were studs yesterday
Or breeze threw bad throws so the defense could make those plays. Breeze has not been the same since the injury earlier this years
Both defenses were great. It was the Saint's offense that couldn't cope.
Colin, it’s not that was a masters class, it’s that was a master class
I think it's funny how people still can't give Brady credit. Yes his defense played great, but that's why Football is a team sport. If you look at what Brady did yesterday compared to how the bucs had played the last two times they faced the saints, he played incredible.
Bucs d did NOT play that great. Brees played terrible. Let's be honest.
@@SenorJuan2023 They shut down MT and came away with crucial turnovers. Thats pretty good.
@@cy4069 INT's came because Brees was throwing off target and making bad decisions. How is that the result of the defense? I was far more impressed the Buc offensive line's pass protection.
@@SenorJuan2023 you know why Brees was making those decisions? Because the defense was not only getting pressure on him but they were also forcing him to throw on the outside when they know doggone well that's a turnover waiting to happen its called a good Defensive Gameplan not giving the game away you outsmarted your own opponent by forcing him to take risks
Sarcastically, “won with Chad Henne”!! Chad Henne had nerves of steel, ice in his veins, and WAS COLD AS ICE ON THAT LAST 4th DOWN THROW!
Bucs #23 and #24 elevated their game to insane levels yesterday. Thats probably on Brady.
Completely agree Colin
Are we just going to ignore the fact that Chad Henne can just waltz in and thrive, basically proving that this is just the NFL version of an NBA super team and it’s not really Mahomes being some otherworldly being?
nick wright gonna pay up on that bet???
I feel bad for New Orleans. They have a superstar roster.
The whole season the saints felt similar to the Steelers. Steelers could not run saints passing is affected by an injured brees and thomas. Paper tiger of the nfc. Plus fournette is really good.
@@gmsllc and an injured Brady and AB would do just fine? What a BS comment.
@@SenorJuan2023 I missed something. Trequan smith is probably the second receiver on the depth chart he had the same stats as the fourth or fifth receiver on the bucs. Brady was hurt? He was on the injury report every week with the Patriots as well. Did he have an injury close to busted ribs?
@@gmsllc Thanks for validating my comment.
@@SenorJuan2023 how you figure?
How is Brady still surprising y’all?
Colin “Tom Brady” Cowherd
Brady was terrible the saints just didn’t catch his interceptions
Frrr didn’t throw 200 yards and scored only rly when defense got picks and gave good field position
Nonsense, Brady put it where the DB's were not. As Belichick said, "nobody ever lost a game from an incompletion."
Those would’ve been tough interceptions to catch for a DB, Brady always puts it where the defender would have to make an amazing play to intercept it
You notice how quiet colin is today about Rodgers hahahaha
They had Jamis throw tha deep ball that should tell everybody Drew is done ✅ Does anybody disagrees
Although obviously Jamies was capable of throwing that ball....that play was simply Sean Payton trolling Tampa lol
So yeah, maybe he is done, but that has not much to do with the ability to throw super-deep, something that was never his forte and which he lost a few years ago already. It's the lack of zip on short and intermediate passes that were disturbing last night.
@@marcmarco5373 Marc Question for you how did all the professional announcers drop the ball with Drew Brees his arm is gone and to tell you the truth bro it’s been gone since last year I’ve been noticing it does anybody disagree
@@Jpowell22 Justin they might’ve had a chance winning if JAMICE played he can throw the ball he has a strong 💪 arm Drew breeze is done Does anybody disagrees
Brees never had an strong arm
Finally- a chiefs take that is spot on.
Tom's composure kept the team in it, until the defense won it. Bruce said it himself. The team listens to Tom more than they do the head coach.
Around this time next year this will be my PANTHERS vs the Falcons for a trip to the NFC championship, Brees & Brady will be retired while the Saints & Buccs sit at home reminiscing on how Close they got!
Collin “bumper stickers” Cowherd
As Max Kellerman said Tom Brady is the best player of all time and still is when it comes to decision making Tom Brady is the GOAT I mean tell me 1 QB that compares to his greatness
These are the kinds of takes that make me think Colin doesn't watch the games. Brees AND Brady looked old yesterday.
Nah
It was not all Brady, the defense was great and they won the game, but Brady did not look old. Did you watch, because Tom had quite a few TDs dropped and threw some amazing passes.
@@xbolt678 not as old as brees, still old. He did not look good and scored 9 points on non turnover drives.
The running game was all they had going for them for the entire first 3 quarters. If winston plays instead of brees then the saints run away with the game before Brady puts his dentures in. Next week will be a blood bath in favor of the pack. Feel free to make fun of me if that doesnt happen.
What game did people in the comments watch, the whole first half the bucs were playing the saints and the refs who were trying to hand the game to the saints. I’m not even a bucs fan but cmon, Brady was consistent the whole game and capitalized on every big play the defense made. Plenty of quarterbacks don’t, especially against a good defense.
Whenever Tom left, new England was gonna dip probably for 3/4 years, but Bill saved Brady from mahomes and gave him his wish...
Tom Brady is the greatest leader of all time
Tom was off on a few throws, but overall he had a 92 rating, the same rating Mahomes had vs the same defense.
Colin Cowherd on Jameis Winston:
‘In New Orleans, he’s the guy that can throw deep and stuff’
-Colin basically throwing shade at Brees’ inability to throw farther than 10 yards 💀
Derrf great comment
the lebron wade comparison is accurate good on u colin
I have said this for 6 years, there are two kinds of football fans
1) Those that admit Brady is the greatest to ever play the game
2) Those WHO WILL NEVER admit Brady is great, let alone the greatest ever...these are the haters, and the haters have been digging in their heels and closing their eyes and blocking their ears more and more every year.
I’m just here for the JOI
Aren’t we all
@@cillyprodd
No
Keep in mind tho, baker led a lot of potential scoring drives early that were cut short with stupid penalties or even drops. If the team didn’t keep shooting themselves in the foot they would have been right there with them even before Mahomes went out
Saints best roster in the NFL...no one made a play, NO ONE STEPPED UP, Bucs are the real deal top to bottom
If Rodgers loses next week his legacy is toast. Him only winning one SB would be such a let-down for his talent and that franchise.
the defense definently stepped up huge but toms overall statline n game woulda looked better if godwin n gronk decided to actually show up. dude hadda rely on scottie miller for a deep ball lol.
Tom looked great in his 3 touchdown drives that totaled 63 yards, all set up by the defense
WHY DO MORE WHEN THAT'S ENOUGH TO WIN WHY RISK THE BALL LIKE BREES DID????
Not necessarily without Brady I highly doubt the Bucs win this game the Saints defense is no joke throwing 2 TDS and no interceptions is impressive against the likes of Malcolm Jenkins and Marshon Lattimore but that's just me I thought the Bucs were good on both sides of the ball
GOAT! GOAT! GOAT! GOAT! Hail Brady!
He very much had the better defense. The Bucs D was awesome!
saints sold their soul to the cap space demon for one last shot to get brees a superbowl. sad that brees himself is what stopped it. that roster is absolutely stacked, and the drafting in recent years has been unbelievable. kamara, lattimore, ramzcyk, gardner-johnson, hendrickson all studs
To be fair, 2018 and 2019 brees didn't hurt their efforts in the playoffs. 2020, I don't recall. This year, I would argue the Cook fumble changed the momentum of the game, and overall Brees had a poor game, as did Brady.
@@adamk1520 this all-out superbowl run came a year or two too late and brees couldnt execute the offense but the roster has been amazing for the last three years anyway losing in the playoffs in terrible circumstances year after year
The biggest mistake the Patriots made was keeping Belichick in charge after he drafted Garoppolo.
That was a typical Patriots win. Nothing flashy. Brady was reliable and did not panic. Players stepped up. Ooph, sorry Bill.
Wow, Tom Brady caused the fumble and 3 interceptions on Brees that gave Tampa easy field position?
Well he definitely made sure they ended up being 7 points.

COLIN "GRAYS HARBOR" COWHERD... YOU THE MAN BRO!!!
2024... "TOM BRADY FOR EMPEROR!!!"
Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr. looked great!
uh, no he didn't. Looked good only because Brees played so badly. LOL
That fumble touchback rule needs to change...

Everyone sleeping on perspective QB Tom Brady
Easy to look great when you never have to start behind midfield
Excuses for another person's good performance are rather lame especially when the Saints defense is one of the best in the league regardless of how many yards you have to drive
We don’t know if it’s a mistake until New England gets a good QB1
It couldn't possibly be the fact that he was playing with 11 fractured ribs and I don't care what anyone says it takes months to heal not a few weeks and that is with one fractured rib much less 11
It's "Masterclass", not "Mastersclass"
Sooooo you realize it was the defense and Brees turnovers that won like 85% of that game right? TD drives of 3 yards, 20 yards, and 40 yards.....Brady is an all timer but his defense won Sunday.
Brady is the GOAT
All credit to Tom. Next week when he loses at Lambeau, all criticism to his teammates.
It sure helped when the other QB plays for your team as well !!!!!
Anyone else getting tired of him saying Brady is the reason why they win?
Like the other players are just stiffs when Brady actually played with stiffs last year?
This is why I’m rooting for Green Bay so I don’t have to listen to Brady Bloviation for 2 weeks
this guy is entertaining
He didn't have the better defense but his defense played better yesterday
Not to discredit the Bucs defense but while they caused 4 TO's, they also gave up quite a few massive penalties
There was an extensive article on what the Brady family EATS, how they stay in excellent physical condition, and WHY Tom can still play professional football. They can afford to buy ANY FOOD THEY WANT and have a chef. They only buy the BEST wild caught fresh fish, take it easy on meat, and eat healthy on a daily basis including fresh fruits and vegetables. Regular exercise. If I were as RICH as the Brady family could afford what they eat, I would be healthier too. No MAGIC, just lots of MONEY$$$$$$.
Then why don't all nfl players have it then.
Hey Buc's defense was absolutely critical to win that game! Tom was great but that defense gived him the ball and in the red zone! You need that defense if you are going to stop Rodgers and if you are going to stop Allen or Mahomes
