  • Using the stock plugin "Fruity Parametric EQ 2" and the free program "Rekordbox" to analyze song BPM's we can make a DJ mix using FL Studio.
    I also show you how to edit a song to to make it shorter within FL allowing for faster mixing of songs in shorter spaces.

      Thank you! Its as simple as add track> add bpm> line up tracks> automate bass on/off > repeat.
      the big thing that makes this so powerful is it allows you to mix as many songs as you want and allows you to edit the songs to fit your mix.
      Happy mixing!

      Could you make a video about other transition effects we usually do in record box? such as beatspin, filter, echo, etc? Would be fun to watch as a beginner in Fruity loops

    • @cody_raves
      @cody_raves  5 месяцев назад

      @@karamthebian1660 FL has many built in effects! you can totally do a backspin using "Grossbeat".... its a time stretching real time quantization tool you can use to make anything from noise gates to emulate scratching on a turntable and its built into FL as a stock plugin.
      other things like flangers, phasers, filters, delays, reverb and echos (and more) are all stock effects that come with fruity loops also!
      so instead of just adding a parametric EQ for mixing the two tracks you can add effects also for even more in depth transitions.
      you can even automate tempo changes in your entire project and shift from one genre into another if you wanted!
      (for example going from house into drum and bass can be done with tempo automation)

      FL studio is more designed for making music than making DJ mixes. But this is the workflow I came up with for making DJ mixes in FL studio. To make a DJ mix you really just need a few things, 3 band eq, two audio sources and a mixer.

      @@cody_raves that's not correct. you also need a pitch, unless you wanna stick to the same tempo for 60minutes which makes it boring. is there a way to make the master tempo an automation clip?

  • @fruitsbat

    btw parametric eq has a 3 band preset, if u use that u dont need to make multiple automation clips

      You certainly don’t need fl studio for DJing at all!
      This is a clever way to make a “DJ mix” in FL Studio.
      Traditional DJ setup is two decks and a two channel mixer. Nowadays you can find all in one controllers that do the job well!

    So do you not have too change the project bpm this way when you have 2 different songs with different bpms and both of them being different too the projects 130 bpm?

    • @cody_raves
      @cody_raves  6 месяцев назад +1

      when you right click the sound and and click "fit to tempo" then select "type in bpm" it will resize the song to fit the tempo of the project itself and correct the pitch back to the original pitch.
      so whatever your project bpm is.... is the tempo of the songs after you've stretched each one by typing in the bpm

    • @Phantomstar9

      @NoNamer123456789 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@Phantomstar9neither, the track will 'resize'. Honestly, the stretching algorythm is pretty weak and will mess around with transient like the kick, so just use resample (pitch shift), unless you really need it in a specific key (while cutting the low frequencies).

    • @Phantomstar9
      @Phantomstar9 5 месяцев назад

      @@NoNamer123456789 facts I I realize this one making a mix for my sisters seniors thesis at the University of Florida for dance. I realize that there was no point of doing any stretching and I just kept the songs that the original BPM and made sure they were close on the key map or key Circle and made sure that the BPM were pretty closeand it worked out pretty well. That way all I did was throw a clipper limit on the nine and 10 and called it a day

    • @NoNamer123456789
      @NoNamer123456789 5 месяцев назад

      @@Phantomstar9 Really depends on what you're playing. Like if you're playing mainstream oldies one by one, then it doesn't matter.
      But if you want to actually mix proper dance music you gotta have the same BPM, unless you know when to slow down/speed up a track or you could just activate some reverb, let it fade out, then start the track with another BPM, for example.

    I’ve been wondering how to do this for so long. Any extra tips for using a midi with this kind of setup?

    • @cody_raves
      @cody_raves  Год назад

      you can assign any knob or fader to link with a midi controller and physically turn them to turn up/down the bass..... hit the record button and make sure you record the automation to a blank pattern and that the pattern is on the playlist. like if its pattern 1 you place it on the playlist, then hit record and then you physically turn the knob and then all that data is stored in pattern 1 will contain the movement of that knob.
      for a live setup you might have to use LIVE mode. but you need to make markers for cue points for each sounds and also would need enough knobs and faders for bass mid low and volume for each track
