You're missing something on the "It Hits The Fan" episode, according to the dvd's mini commentary, they said they wanted to say "shit" once, but it was not approved by Comedy Central. They came back later and said they wanted to say it 147 times, and Comedy Central approved it.
that kenny tidbit was interesting. I was watching an episode from 2011 and all the kids had ipod touches while kenny had an ipod shuffle, the cheapest option.
In another episode everyone has normal computers or laptops and Kenny had one from "one laptop per child" which is a charity that gives netbooks to kids.

As a Texan it makes me happy and proud to hear others talk about how great King of the Hill is. Aside from, and sometimes even including, some of the most insane stories on the show, everything else is representative of the real thing.

Maya is actually industry standard. I teach it to my animation students :)
I used it in an animation class years ago back in an animation course I took in high school. :) Definitely pretty beginner friendly too.
yeah, animating using keyframing and interpolation with maya are fairly easy.
I remember on their documentary "6 days to air" they explained that in the 99s they needed the most powerful computers they could find to just barely run Maya. Now they use MacBooks to render the show.
I really like that at 1:22 Karl's mic got cut out to not interrupt Nisha. Props to the editors on small details like that.

Actually, you can't watch the Super Best Friends episode anymore. It's part of the 3 episodes 'banned' from broadcast and distribution digitally. If you want to watch the SBF episode, you need the DVD boxset for that season. Both episodes 200 and 201 aren't on their DVD set or streaming.
And this is why illegally streaming is a good thing as it assists in the preservation of media

In 2000, ‘South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut’ was up for an Oscar with the song ‘Blame Canada’ for ‘Best Original Song’.
The thing is, they really didn’t want to go to the Oscars, so the question became “how do we go but not go”.
So naturally, Matt and Trey modelled their clothing on outfits other celebrities had worn. It just so happened that the outfits were variations on women’s clothing.
Trey wore a version of Jennifer Lopez’s 2000 Grammy’s dress and Matt wore a version of Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1999 Oscars dress.
So now they had clothing but they were still going to the Oscars, their solution was acid.
So right before the show they ate sugar cubes doused with LSD.
Mission Accomplished.

I think it was absolutely hilarious that the actor who played chef quit back in 2006 because they made fun of Scientology and then in turn they made an episode mocking chef and basically slapping him in the face as they killed him off
Problem was that Isaac Hayes had to quit because scientology forced him to. They even mentioned that at the end of the episode

They're not republicans or democrats. The whole thing of identifying as republicans has to do with their counter-culture attitude.
When growing up in a very conservative area of Colorado, they identified as democrats. Their reason for doing so was that it was "punk". They went against what the standard views were in their area. Then, when they moved to L.A., they were surrounded by democrats so they now identified as republicans again because it was "punk". They'd be at parties and say things like, "President Bush is doing an amazing job isn't he?" and watch people lose their minds.
At heart they're libertarian and don't really identify as being left or right. As they've said, "we hate conservatives but we really hate liberals".

While I'm glad that he gave a proper shout out to "Blame Canada", I'm really disappointed that he didn't mention The Simpsons "Monorail". A true classic right there.
With the Mohammed thing, I heard that the time they had to censor him, they were actively getting death threats from the Muslim community.
Also, the running joke of Kenny dying every episode, in a DnD campaign I played, one of the guys legitimately died each of the first 3 sessions. So he became Kenny and the DM started actively killing him every session just as a running joke.
That's funny and all until you gotta sit down for an hour or two to make a new fucking character
@@witheredl.s3986 No, he allowed him to come back as the same character every time or make a new character if he wanted, which gave the party a good bit of strength. An additional party member who can adapt to what we expect to happen in the coming session before it was pretty nice, and this was 5e and we used this character sheet app that actually made making a character take like 5 minutes.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone originally wanted to do musicals. That's why when Southpark: Bigger Longer and Uncit came out they had a sigh of relief so that they can write music. It's also why they made The Book of Mormon, the Broadway musical.
Fun fact about the first ever episode of South Park:
You can tell it was done with paper and stop motion because there is one frame (during Chef's introduction, I believe) where someone messed up - you can see a hand moving the paper around, right in the middle of the screen.
The man who did Yako's voice did an update version of the song naming all the country's that no longer exists and there new names.

Not only can Rob Paulsen still do that song, but as the world's countries have changed since that episode, he's updated the song to match the current reality of the world, just for convention appearances! Since the show has been out of production for so long, there's no other reason to update the song other than the fact that fans at cons, to this day, love to hear it, so he wants it to be current & correct for them. What a guy!
They didn't have two episodes prepared. If you watch the commentary, Matt and Trey talk about how they considered making a backup episode in case McCain won, they only had time to make one episode, and they just happened to make a good guess.

What an important, insane and much needed commentary on this fkd up planet we exist on this show has become. I remember where I was for the premiere of this foul mouthed show and always will. Shit I remember the movie coming out and actual police officers were stationed outside the rooms airing it making sure no children snuck in. I still to this day have not seen that for any other film.

More or less you make clay models and you have a camera setup over the whole stage and you snap a picture then you move the clay model a millimeter or less and retake another picture and you keep doing that process until you have enough pictures the more or less flip book your way into a episode and then do the voice acting over top

Imagine they make an AI that can make short snippets with minimal inputs, so they can make episodes about major events as they’re happening. Like imagine if there was a failed missile launch from North Korea and they’ve already released a snippet before its shot down.
In Australia the public channel SBS started airing episodes before they were big. When the show took off and the commercial channels wanted to take over offering lots of money for the rights Matt and Trey told them to F off and let SBS continue buying the episodes at the original price
My favorite American Dad quote is when Rodger was homeless. Rodger says things are tough on the street I saw a man get beaten to death for a sandwich... this sandwich. Takes one bite of it and throw it on the ground because it was like pimento loaf or something.
The censored episode was around the time of the whole Charlie Hebdo thing.
It is a crime that they didn't mention the futurama holophone opera where fry has the robot devil's hands, that was a truly brilliant moment in TV!
I remember all the cheat codes to South Park were a Random Letter and a word that was relevant to the character in some way or another. always remember Starvin Marvin was MSLAPUPMEAL and wendy's was (random letter)CHECKATACO. those were epic games back in the day :D

Not really. Most studios have an in house person that works for the censor board. Bob camp (Ren and stimpy) mentioned how he could sneak Jones in by just bombarding their censor with so many homes that some would make it through. That or he'd make jokes that she didn't understand were double entendres with other dirty jokes left in as bait.
The American Dad hot tub musical with ceelo green is so good and anytime Steve sings is just amazing. I was blown away to find out that Scott grimes from the orville voices and sings for Steve.
South Parks Chef Aid was such a good cd too I wore that thing out as a kid.

It hits the fan was promoted. It was like a week long of them bleeping out "shit" in clips of the show and then voice over says watch television history the first time this words been said on air! Lol I remember being so excited to see it.

Kinda funny you should say about Seth McFarlane probably wanting to do music, when it was Matt Stone who very much wanted to be a musician. In fact both Matt Stone and Trey Parker have music in their histories, with Trey Parker spending a semester at a music college before transferring into film and meeting Matt Stone. That's why they make so much music - the South Park movie is essentially a musical, as is Team America, and they released an album of songs alongside Season 2-3 of South Park off the back of Chef Aid, which saw Chocolate Salty Balls hit #1 in the UK. On top of all that, they actually have their own band called DVDA, though I'm fairly sure they won't have performed in many years.

Another attention to detail tidbit that surprised me is in the episode about tourettes, there's a scene when a bunch of pedophiles see Chris Hansen and they shoot themselves, but all the guys are based off the image of real people in to catch a predator
As far as animated musical numbers go a bag o’ weed from family guy episode where Brian tries to make pot legal is probably my favorite it’s just well done

Curiously, in the Japanese dub for the country song (listing all the countries of the world), the Japanese voice actor is the voice actor for (Japanese) freiza from Dragon ball z. You can find a video on here of freiza 'singing' the song.
yakko's world by rob paulsen, gets updated whenever a country changes its name, because many schools use it for geography classes! also look up the Brain doing drunk orsen wells, recording voiceovers for commericals if you haven't seen it! a ''clean'' version made it into an animaniacs episode!!
The song has never been correct (naming a few provinces as countries and in some cases naming countries that haven't existed for 300 years). I hope no school would ever use it in geography class!
EDIT: a few examples: Carribian isn't a country it's a region, when covering the countries in the UK it leaves out Wales, parts of the United States are listed separately (Puerto Rico for example...it may not have statehood but it's still as much a part of the US as California or New York), various territories that never declared independence are listed (Greenland, Borneo, Cayman Islands), cities are listed (Algiers, San Juan (which is in Puerto Rico which has already been incorrectly included)), and they included "Kampuchea" (the name the Khmer Rouge used for Cambodia from 1975 to 1979).
