Mary McCarthy (Director of the Crawford Art Gallery and Member of the Council of National Cultural Institutions) will speak with Dr Declan Jordan (Senior Lecturer in Economics and Founding Co-Director of the Spatial and Regional Economics Research Centre at UCC).
What is the role of art and art institutions in these turbulent times? Are cities an enabling environment for the arts? How can cities of the future support the long-term sustainability of the cultural sector? Can we harness culture to support cities in redefining their purpose? In the current climate, where cities are undergoing massive change and navigating a period of uncertainty, is there an opportunity to do things differently?
