- *UPDATE! I have reworked the build plans for this project. There is now an option to build it without the steel base. I have also added a template for drilling out your bit storage drawers. You can find all my plans at www.almfab.com/plans
This week I am customizing Rockler’s Router Table, and packing it full of storage options.

Someone like you need to create the ultimate, modular, artist storage and work table. You'll make a ton of money.
Nice Router Table
Greetings from Germany
I am Michael
One of the cleanest router table builds I’ve seen. Great job!! Love the end result!!
I’ve watched this probably 10x and it’s like new every time! I’m obsessed with his accuracy, build quality, and his ingenious storage! Micheal Alm, pls more shop builds like this and your awesome paint can storage, your rolling patterned ply shop cabinet, dust collection... your wife’s gorgeous metal and ply work area, pls keep them coming! My favorite will always be you garden bench, ik it’s not a shop project but I love outdoor and/or shop jobs and would love to see them all 🤘🏽
Man... that looks great!! I love the black on wood look!! Great job!!
Oh my god, it’s so clean. Wow. Well done sir.
The details on this project really make it attracive looking. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice build and design. I will likely be picking up these plans in the near future to build out my own Rockler router table.
I would recommendation making a version of the plans that doesn’t require cutting the angle iron for people would don’t do metal work or have an angle grinder. Lucky for me I just had to buy one for another job.
Also, maybe make a version of the plans that include just building the entire base instead of starting with Rockler’s. That could really appeal to some DIYers looking to save money.
Brother, that polished nail-pin trick is pretty cool. I'll be making a bunch of them.
Dude....... this is the Rolls Royce of router tables So nice!
This is just awesome! I have a similar router table setup with the metal legs. I’ve been really wanting to add drawers somehow. This certainly looks like a great way to go. Thanks for sharing the vid!
Very nice cabinet, I like the attention to detail. Great job!
Awesome project my friend. It looks really nice and the black is a great choice.
Thanks for sharing.
Really enjoyed watching this come together! I wish i had the space for this.
Highest quality on those drawers! Incredible stuff!
Really great job on this router table. Looks very cool.
The router table I never knew I needed, but now I REALLY want!
Hahaha! Thanks Jonny!
What a stunning piece of kit, very impressive, and I have to agree that this wouldn't look out of place in a shop window... Awesome job, well done.
Looks fantastic, Michael! I love the homemade drawer slides...that's a great solution.
Thanks a lot Bruce!!
That is an awesome set up. I am going to do something similar for my router table. Thanks for the ideas!
WOW! Incredible work!
Pins for different sized bearings was clever. I'd not thought of that. Also liked using the cable tidy for the power lead clever.
Really enjoyed this video. Beautiful
Possibly the nicest router table I've seen 👍
Thanks Chris!
The one that Attila's Workshop might be a step up but this surely takes the second place by a very thin margin :p
Though Attila's maybe have some to be desired in the dust-collection and storage department. So by function Micheals is a bit better.
Soooo good!! I love those drawers
Thanks Marylou!!
Nice! Wish I had room for something like this in my shop!
That was awesome. I totally want to do something like this to my router table now!
Thanks Tamar!! Go for it!
Beautiful work, thanks for sharing.
Love you work! Keep it coming.
That came out so good! Cutting those side pieces made such a huge difference. Nice job, dude!
Thanks Maker Monster! It really did! The upper drawers would've barely worked if I hadn't cut those notches out.
This is a sick router table man. Love it
Outstanding job!
Super clean
So neat and tidy.
Michael I just finished this build from your plans I downloaded, it came out exactly like this one. It looks amazing and very functional. I painted my Miter cabinet and CNC enclosure to match. They not only looks nice but motivates me to use the shop even more. Thanks for the plans and tutorial, it really helped a lot. I posted a photo at Rockler's under Phenolic Router Table configurations.
That turned out great.
Looks awesome, great job 👍
This is by far the best router table I've seen.
1:09 genius!
Thanks! Yeah, I learned that trick at my first job, and it has served me well
Very nice build.
Beautifully done! Your shop is great! Very inspiring.
Thanks Jay!
Wowsers that’s awesome was mesmerising watching all the cuts get made, for a noob like me it was very educational. Thanks for the great videos 🙏
Merci pour ce partage ! Super pratique et belle réalisation !
Beautiful job
Looks great! That lift is unreal. 👍
Thanks Kris! Yeah, I love that thing
Awesome, great work!
That's a lovely piece of shop furniture. I also love that you just don't run off to $10,000 per pair Blum slides.
That black with wood looks so insane! Great job!
Thanks man!
This table came out so nice.
Thank you!!
Finally had an opportunity to sit down and watch this, and it did not disappoint Michael! So many really clever design features in this - I can't believe how much storage you were able to pull off with this thing! Awesome!
Thanks Ethan!
You killed it man! I love the idea of cutting the metal legs to add some storage space
Thanks Johnny!! Yeah, I was a bit nervous about it, but so glad I went for it
Very Nice. I may have to build one for my shop.
That is a beautiful cabinet with optimal storage!
Thanks Jolien!
it’s satisfying looking at people who does theyr job smooth! and the end results are amazing!👍 big like from a guy from Norway!😊
Thank you!
Very neat setup and a lovely looking cabbenet
Badger Workshop thanks dude!
wonderful! sincere congratulations..😍
Wow beautiful
Yes! This is something I've been meaning to build. Must make time for it now. Great job! Also, gotta get me some of them shims.
Thanks Wesley! Those shims are the best. I use them on so much stuff it’s crazy.
I would love to have one of these! Great work Mike.
Thanks Brian!!
Wow, this is a great build~! I have the same table frame, but built the cabinet (insert) that came out in Woodcraft's magazine last year. I really wish what I'd seen your first. Nice job~!
Hello !! Great project, both thumbs up
Damn, you maximized the hell out of that thing, and stylish too! I love all those shims you use. I gotta pick some up.
Thanks! Those shims are so freaking handy I use them all the time
Perfect job
Love watching you work... Back at school we would have nicknamed you meticulous mike😊😉
Well this was great. Love all that multifunctionality.
It’s a word. Probably.
Thanks Brett!!
Great Job
Awesome Job!!!!
This is art! So damn good!
That is the nicest router table I have ever seen! I plan on looking at the plans to build myself one. I would also like to see plans for your cedar planter bench with raised bed. I can’t find any plans that I liked until seeing you build yours. My wife actually sat down and watched it and agreed if we could purchase the plans, this will be my winter project. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us out here watching!
I’m working on those! Look for them in a month or so
Michael, after seeing more router table/cabinet build videos than I can count, and I hope you don't mind, I am going to copy some of your ideas in my own build. Apart from how incredibly nice your cabinet looks, it is also very practical, and I especially like the draw fronts and black finish. I've made pretty much everything for my build, and have learned a few things on the way, like you are not saving money doing it all yourself. For instance the 10mm Acetal I used for the insert, and 6mm Acetal I used for the inner inserts cost me nearly NZ$100, plus the laminated kitchen worktop that was another NZ$120. Taking the plywood and casters into account, and it comes to about NZ$600! Whoops! I forgot the draw runners, so make that >NZ$700!! Yikes. I came to woodwork as a retired toolmaker, and I have full metal shop facilities at my local Menz Shed, and a metal lathe and milling machines are super useful for jobs like turning the round inserts, and getting holes perfectly positioned. It's also very satisfying doing it all yourself. So thanks for the ideas and inspiration. Bugger, just remembered the two 1000mm t-tracks, which is another NZ$100 😧.
Awesome video! I'm a huge fan of your work. I would love to see a plan for the table saw cabinet you did a while back. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Joseph! I'm going to make that happen, for sure. Thanks for the input.
I need to make one of these nice job
Just Whouaaaah ! Congrats from France 👍🏻
Thank you!
So good!!
Super cool!!!
Damn that looks nice.
Rockler should be selling it this way !
Kewl! I this is the best router table build I've seen. Awesome work! 😁
Thanks Meli!!
WOW! That’s a fantastic design. I have something similar in mind. The plans are all drawn up so all I need is the time and money for materials. I was thinking of possibly adding an extra drawer at the very bottom of the stand.
Thanks! Yeah, the main reason I built this now was because I had a bunch of leftover ply in the shop. I thought about a bottom shelf, and it could definitely be added in. I just didn’t want it to get in the way of my feet. Removing the bottom cross brace might help. Best of luck with yours!
I am in the process of building a similar router cart myself. This was so inspiring. I especially loved the small side drawers at the top. They were not in my original design but are in the updated one. May I be so bold as to ask how much vertical space you allotted for the bit drawers? A feature of my cart, the sides have French Cleats for storing items such as tools and hold downs. Thanks for all of your inspiration !!!
Superb !
Thank you for sharing !
Class 👍🏼
nice router table Sir
Congratulations beautiful 🤩
Perfect job.😊
Best wishes
Lhaj BELAAID work Shop from Morocco
Looks like it rolled out the factory. Deluxe Alm Edition.
Hahaha! Thanks Dennis!
I dig it.
I just came across your channel. Subscribed!
Dude, you've got some mad skills! This turned out beautiful! I just bought your plans. Can't wait to make mine.
Question, Is that a special type of black paint you used for the sides and back or will any paint get the same result once coated with the satin finish?
Blown away how sharp looking and functional the router station came out. Great design and execution. Is the door for the router cavity held in place by magnets? Keep up the great content.
Thanks! Yeah, 12 magnets. 6 on the door and 6 on the cleats.
I watched your router table storage cabinet many times over and i appreciate your approach in every way. Would you consider making a similar storage cabinet for a Sawstop Freestanding Router Table?
Máximo. It's bealtiful
Nice router table. I built my own router table thirty years ago and I always wondered why people wasted money on those cheesy table top models. Yours is the cadillac of router tables.
Hi Michael, i love all your videos, well done and very informative. I'd like to know if you would ever consider building a similar router table storage cabinet to fit a Sawstop freestanding router table. would like to hear from you on this. thanks.
That is a nice design. I am currently building the Kreg router table cabinet . So too late to change
Nice
Lovely job. Thanks for sharing.
Note: Music gets wrong-doing after 2:25min
Omg his music is HORRENDOUS
Awesome build, so well thought out. I have this same Rockler router table and stand, so I feel a shop project coming on.
Thanks so much. Oh, any reason you didn’t use the Rockler Dust Bucket dust collection box?
Thanks! No particular reason. I actually didn't realize they made it until after I built mine.
Really great work. The two inch power cord grommet in the rear sits in the same cavity as the router and dust port. Seems like that big opening would allow a lot of dust to escape?
Good call on cutting the legs! I was wondering how your frame looked skinnier than mine haha
Thanks Alex! Yeah I had a moment where I wasn't going to do it, but I'm super glad I did.
Question for you Michael, at 13:14, where did you get the grommet for the power cord that you put in the rear of the table next to the dust port? I may be missing it in your list of items, but I cant find it. Love this by the way. I am almost done with my build of it using your plans I purchased on your site without the steel base.
