    I’ve watched this probably 10x and it’s like new every time! I’m obsessed with his accuracy, build quality, and his ingenious storage! Micheal Alm, pls more shop builds like this and your awesome paint can storage, your rolling patterned ply shop cabinet, dust collection... your wife’s gorgeous metal and ply work area, pls keep them coming! My favorite will always be you garden bench, ik it’s not a shop project but I love outdoor and/or shop jobs and would love to see them all 🤘🏽

    Very nice build and design. I will likely be picking up these plans in the near future to build out my own Rockler router table.
    I would recommendation making a version of the plans that doesn’t require cutting the angle iron for people would don’t do metal work or have an angle grinder. Lucky for me I just had to buy one for another job.
    Also, maybe make a version of the plans that include just building the entire base instead of starting with Rockler’s. That could really appeal to some DIYers looking to save money.

      The one that Attila's Workshop might be a step up but this surely takes the second place by a very thin margin :p
      Though Attila's maybe have some to be desired in the dust-collection and storage department. So by function Micheals is a bit better.

    Michael, after seeing more router table/cabinet build videos than I can count, and I hope you don't mind, I am going to copy some of your ideas in my own build. Apart from how incredibly nice your cabinet looks, it is also very practical, and I especially like the draw fronts and black finish. I've made pretty much everything for my build, and have learned a few things on the way, like you are not saving money doing it all yourself. For instance the 10mm Acetal I used for the insert, and 6mm Acetal I used for the inner inserts cost me nearly NZ$100, plus the laminated kitchen worktop that was another NZ$120. Taking the plywood and casters into account, and it comes to about NZ$600! Whoops! I forgot the draw runners, so make that >NZ$700!! Yikes. I came to woodwork as a retired toolmaker, and I have full metal shop facilities at my local Menz Shed, and a metal lathe and milling machines are super useful for jobs like turning the round inserts, and getting holes perfectly positioned. It's also very satisfying doing it all yourself. So thanks for the ideas and inspiration. Bugger, just remembered the two 1000mm t-tracks, which is another NZ$100 😧.

    WOW! That’s a fantastic design. I have something similar in mind. The plans are all drawn up so all I need is the time and money for materials. I was thinking of possibly adding an extra drawer at the very bottom of the stand.

    • @MichaelAlm
      @MichaelAlm  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks! Yeah, the main reason I built this now was because I had a bunch of leftover ply in the shop. I thought about a bottom shelf, and it could definitely be added in. I just didn’t want it to get in the way of my feet. Removing the bottom cross brace might help. Best of luck with yours!

    I am in the process of building a similar router cart myself. This was so inspiring. I especially loved the small side drawers at the top. They were not in my original design but are in the updated one. May I be so bold as to ask how much vertical space you allotted for the bit drawers? A feature of my cart, the sides have French Cleats for storing items such as tools and hold downs. Thanks for all of your inspiration !!!

    Question for you Michael, at 13:14, where did you get the grommet for the power cord that you put in the rear of the table next to the dust port? I may be missing it in your list of items, but I cant find it. Love this by the way. I am almost done with my build of it using your plans I purchased on your site without the steel base.
