At 2:40 correction... Don't forget to SUBTRACT an inch and a half after you measure the opening for the window frame. Also, 6 inches of overhang is a waste, you only need about 1.5 inch of overhang if you keep the screen straight and just make sure it stays straight as you are rolling in the spline. When you get really good at it you will be able to have even less overhang on the first two sides and then leave yourself the 1.5 inches on the last two sides you roll in.
We always use our neighborhood ACE when we need stuff. It's a pretty awesome little store that's been around for a long time. Love the old school look & feel as well as customer service. Hard to find nowadays.
This was a GREAT video because I need new screens badly and the demonstrator gave us instructions, step by step. Now, I don't have to hire someone to do it because I can do it myself.
You only need those tabs on windows you can't access easily or that are on a second level. If you have easy access from outside you don't need the tabs, just compress the spring and push the screen corner out.
I've loved using these materials to make removable screens for my porch! Very simple for someone with little $, few skills, and few tools. :-) My only question concerns fasteners to hold window screen in place. I'd thought using Jiffy hangers would be perfect for sliding the window screen in and out, but the ball loop latch in kit I got won't work. My porch screen window spaces have no lip of any sort, so spring type hardware won't work to allow clearance to temporarily raise screen up and out. I'm trying to minimize buying/installing lots of little hardware pieces. Any suggestions? Again, jiffy hangers seem to be ideal to allow slide in/out, but I now need a way to hold the screen bottom snug in place until I need to remove it again. Thx!
Hi Sherry! We suggest contacting your neighborhood Ace for advise on this matter. Here is a link to our store locator where you can find the phone number for the store in your area bit.ly/findace. Thanks!
@@AceHardware Oh I was at my local store yesterday picking up the Jiffy hanger and ball screw loop hardware. I knew it was going to be an experiment. I'll go back to the store and explore some more with them. Super how quick you were to respond to my post today, thanks! 👍😁
Lou is the best! Thanks for your help through these Ace Hardware videos.🛠️

Thank you for the great tutelage! It was very well presented.
Helpful information thanks !
Thank you! Very helpful and saved me some money.
That was very helpful
Thx!!!
If your opening is 24 inches X 24 inches for example, cut your frame 22.5 inches. That would account for the 1.5 inches that the corner pieces take.
Where r the little tabs to hold to pull out screen when u want it out to like clean it
