"Gimme Chocolate" is "just" a fun song about the girls wanting to eat chocolate but being a little worried worried about their weight. But, yeah those instrumentals are very, very metal and the juxtaposition with the cute vocals, lyrics and choreo was totally the point of the song and the reason why this music video went viral back in 2014. Helping them a lot tbh. It's their most "popular" song but probably not their best one. But that doesn't stop it from being a blast when they play it live. 🤘🦊
Welcome back.🦊As you know, this video is 10 years old. It was the video that went viral and got them a lot of attention right before they first started touring internationally, but it only scratches a tiny bit of who and what they are and how much more they are capable of. This was filmed at a live concert in December 2013 (Su-metal's 16th birthday celebration called Legend 1997 - that was her birth year), but you were right, this was the official video and they used the studio audio - they are so much better live. The guys in skeleton suits waving guitars around were not a real band. They were called Babybones and they would dance around at the back of the stage in BABYMETAL's early days before they could afford a live band. The live band were actually being phased in from October 2012 playing the encores in some shows. Legend 1997 was the last time they only played the encores (they came on for the last 5 songs). From the next big shows BABYMETAL played (Budokan Red and Black Nights in March 2014 right after the release of the first album) the live band became their full time support for all live shows. The live band are called the Kami Band. Kami means god or spirit so you will see them in traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint. From late December 2017 the robes were black, from 2019 the face paint was replaced with masks. Try another song from later in this same concert - this time it will be live and the Kami band will be playing. 'Headbanger' live at Legend 1997 ... you can find it posted by abr metal.
One thing I've noticed about Japanese entertainment is that they'll mix together contrasting emotions. In America something is happy or sad or scary. Not 2 or more at the same time. I was watching this Japanese music video and it was clearly comedy at one point she was farting a rainbow. Then there was an eyeball with blood coming out of it.
@kitsuneneko2567 I don't agree with that. There is great American entertainment. It's just a bit different in Japan. Both Breaking Bad and Attack on Titan are great shows. Personally I really like 'The Good Place'. That show has great writing. I think Japanese people would enjoy it they have a great sense of humor.
@@KenjaTimuI agree both cultures have fun at times. Japan seems to be a bit more fluid with their art in general. Exhibit A -Japanese commercials. Exhibit B -Babymetal.
Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🍫 Nice to see you're back with more BM songs. This is their breakout hit in 2014, for better or worse, either you hated or loved it, this MV got the highest amount of views on their channel, and fans were enjoying this song every night at World Tour 2023/2024, is a hit they don't wanna miss in almost every live performance, hopefully you'll get the chance to see them live, don't miss out the opportunity to feel this experience. Dance choreography and metal has never seen before and an important part of this is thanks to Mikiko-Metal (aka Mikiko Mizuno) she's behind another famous Jpop group called Perfume and is very well respected sensei with her own group of dance Eleven Play, she was behind Olympic Games ceremony. And the mastermind behind this madness is KobaMetal. This MV isn't actually live version and not even with the usual Kami Band, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. Back in the day, before 2014 mainly, they used to have this backing band called "baby-bones" air playing instruments wearing this skeleton costumes, they didn't have the budget to afford a high level set of real musicians like they have now, so progressively since 2012 they incorporate the real band and leaving the baby-bones behind, they did a great job supporting the girls and giving a show, so shout-out to them for being part of BM story. This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"_ They're just singing about wanting to eat some chocolate but they worried about the weight just like any other regular girl, there's not so much hidden message behind, they used to have fun songs like these without so much deepness on the lyrics just to have fun and party, but the brutal contrast on this is remarkable, no doubt about it. See you in the mosh'sh pit means go watch Road Of Resistance live in Japan official. Another suggestion to witness a turning point in their career outside of Japan: - Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 official. They feature some songs for the trailers of Tiny Tina's Wonderland videogame last year, Gimme Chocolate!! also sounds in the credits of the game. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time!🦊🤘🔥
Welcome back to the world of Babymetal! I see Metallica's "...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL" banner to your side! At this concert (Legend 1997) that this "Gimme Chocolate" music video was recorded at, was the closing song called "BABYMETAL DEATH", and at the end of that song, there is an homage to Metallica's "...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL"! I look forward to you watching that performance some day! The best video is titled "BABYMETAL | BABYMETAL DEATH | LIVE at Legend 1997 [Intro subtitled]" 🤘🦊🤘

BABYMETAL is THE best LIVE band on the planet Road of Resistance LIVE at PIA ARENA 2023 HQ Pro Shot from the Hymnodic channel Is what you should react to.
Many members of The One will say that this song isn't among BABYMETAL's best - I beg to differ. Although BABYMETAL does have many songs that are better, this song defines what BABYMETAL is: heavy metal pleasantly mixed with J-pop without missing a beat - kawaii metal at its best, and one of the best of the "Yui Era" (more on that later)! Anyway . . . . You’ve opened a can of worms! BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. I suggest you go back to the beginning, and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay"), both released in 2012. You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of recommended songs (along with suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" or simply "The Yui Era". old but gold...timeless song...the girls are amazing...🍅🥰 whoever invented this "ah ta ta ta ta" is a genius
What is interesting is that it's an onomatopoeia for gun sounds, the same like RATATATA with Electric Callboy, a sort of reference to themselves.

This so called "band" is a joke. Pure pop garbage with exception of the band that plays the music - Kami.
Suzuka Nakamoto, Yui Mizuno, and Moa Kikuchi...the original lineup.
