    Love your videos especially that you show settings
    Was wondering if when time done if you do tray warm and I noticed on some people when they do candy and they are done hit no defrost and some hot defrost which one is it please

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  3 месяца назад

      Thank you!!! So defrost will heat up the chamber to melt the ice built up in the machine and it takes 2 hours. So if you want the machine defrosted quickly you would choose defrost. If you aren’t using your machine soon after you can let it naturally melt away, I just leave my door open when I do this. So it’s mainly just personal preference- I do it about 50% of the tome

    Are the gummy bears similar to the Nerds Gummy Clusters?

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  4 месяца назад

      Yes they are similar texture - just different that the bear is covered with a sprinkle instead of a nerd . They were yummy!

    Are you ever adding warm tray time to the candies?

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  3 месяца назад

      I sometimes do - depends on the candy. Any candies with chocolate or caramel I don’t do any tray warming, no warming for skittles. But most gummy candies I usually do like 10 min tray warm

    Awesome video the egg is hilarious 😆. I meant to ask you I tried a few batches of nerd clusters on candy mode this weekend and even after like 6 hours most of them didn’t puff and still gummy. I did them at 145 maybe too hot not sure and didn’t warm trays so still learning :). I know our altitude in Prescott is a mile high and things get wonky sometimes.

      Weird about the nerds clusters - I do usually have mine at 150, and I don’t do tray warming. And they’re done in 4-6 hours…. A lot of times my bottom tray doesn’t come out well but the other ones do good, so maybe try again on 150 deg and see if that makes a difference

      Wondered about what you made at your garage sale on your freeze dried candy. You referred to it but I didn’t hear the amount. I THOUGHT you said you were going to say but maybe I misunderstood. If you choose not to, it’s ok. Just exploring options. Thank you.

      @@scarleenswalker7923 no I’m just a bad RUclipsr bc I forgot to say at the end 😝 I put it in words on screen towards the end of the video - but I profited $600 🥳 I spent probably about $80 in candy / materials. I am bad at tracking perfectly but I did track sales and we sold $680 so $600 profit, I was thrilled with! We were super busy

    Can you freeze dry licorice? Would that work?

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  4 месяца назад

      I haven’t tried it but I have heard from other candy people licorice doesn’t work 😟 which is a bummer bc it would be so good!

    I have trouble with gummies. They fluff up huge, lose all shape. But i do warm the trays per someone else's video.

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  4 месяца назад

      I wanted trays this time for like 8 minutes. I wonder if that’s why they got so extra 😅

    • @reneebeam426
      @reneebeam426 4 месяца назад

      @DIYfreezedry I did the blue sharks with the white bottoms. Warmed the trays for 30 min. I think I had 6 or 8 on the small tray. They blew up into one giant fluffy rectangle the size of the tray AND thick enough to adhere to the top the whole way 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    FINAL APPEAL to ship your freeze dried food instead of taking it with you on the plane to AZ:
    With heightened security, and the fact that a Freeze Dried Mylar package (especially vacuum sealed..) could set off metal detectors and appear like C-4 explosives to a TSA officer..who may make the safety inspection of OPENING your Mylar enclosed food bags to verify there’s nothing amiss inside.
    Shipping your food may make more sense. I just had a dream of you posting videos showing opened food bags that went through airport security, and ruining your plans. Hopefully it’s just my imagination gone wild.
