  • Is there a minimum IV for a Shadow Pokémon to be stronger than a Non-Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon Go? Well, today we take a look at a 0% Shadow Tyranitar against a 100% Non-Shadow Tyranitar to see which is stronger through a raid experiment.

    Well i really hate that shadow pokemon are so much stronger and purifying them is just pointless.
    Kinda loses the point of "saving" them from corruption, so in essence, lore wise all of us are evil dicks, which allow suffering from pokemon to get some gains, but gains are just way too big to ignore.

  • @ImEcchi
    @ImEcchi 9 месяцев назад +3

    Old video but people will come across it.
    BrandonTan showed it in action but the math behind it is:
    IV is a flat amount added to the pokemon’s base stats.
    So let’s say a pokemon had 100 attack, 100 defense and 100 HP. A 100% 15/15/15 IV pokemon would have 115/115/115 stats.
    and the obvious 0% IV with 0/0/0 would be 100/100/100.
    Shadow pokemon get a 20% attack bonus and -20% defense. So a 0% shadow pokemon with those base stats would be 120/80/100 showing that the pokemon has more attack but a lot less defense.
    This is gap is only if you powered up a 0% shadow. So imagine a 3-star with possibly 15/15/11 Like the Metagross we saw? Honestly if you get a max attack IV shadow it’s definitely worth it for max damage. Just keep in mind about the Defense debuff, and make sure to dodge otherwise they will faint faster.

    This is an awesome comparisons and I was actually surprised. Everyone needs to keep in mind also is dodging. When using shadow Pokémon you want to always dodge the charge moves even if they’re resisted so you can survive to get off as many charge moves as possible. This is one reason I use dragon breath on my hundo shadow dragonite and dragon tail on my regular hundo dragonite. Dodging is key to maximize the damage boost.

      It will probably show no difference - especially in such an easy raid as the Shinx raid. A perfect IV Shadow hits a bit harder and in certain situations last a little longer than the 0 IV but if you don't have any problems beating the boss with your team(s) then the very small difference doesn't matter. IV are very overrated!

    How about another experiment on how much damage a 0% shadow can do compared to a hundo after it faints, just to take into consideration the 17% a shadow take as added damage compared to a hundo. This would represent a stronger pokemon effectiveness, specially for tier 5 and mega raids.

    I know this is old, but I am getting back into the game now, I hope you read my comment though. Because, I do not completelly agree with you, yes the shadow is faster in fainting the pokemon, however it does so loosing more hp, and also, it has less max hp. If your point was to compare them, you should compare to how much total damage can both do (till they faint) because I believe if you bring 6 hundos to a 3-4* raid those will make more total damage than 6 shadow 0 IV (so you may beat it with less people, or even solo it, although it will be slower).
    I made a brief calculation and, till they faint, the shadow would beat its opponent if it had 9.9 times more health, however the hundo would beat one that had 15.5 times more health.
    In conclusion, it would be nice to see a comparison in a stronger opponent so you can see how much damage they can make till they faint, and maybe explore what IVs would make a shadow pokemon beat a hundo in total "damage till fainted".
    Another interesting comparison would be how much damage can a team of 6 shadow (0 IVs) make till the timer of a 5* raid is over (while using max revive after all are fainted keep fighting) vs a team of hundos (since those last longer maybe wont even have time to heal up and continue for that long). Btw, I know these pokemon are super hard to get, I am just wishing it could be tested :)
    Pd: It seems you make a video of these every year, so maybe this year's one can have a different test.

    Hi Brandon, thank you for the educational video which was really missing for many players. The idea of using shadow Pokémon was always a doubt for me mainly to understand what iv floor should I consider to invest. Comparing to non shadow it doesn’t matter for raiding.

    Crazy I heard it was better but I haven’t evolved my shadow because I been waiting for a good IV one, I’m currently maxing out my 98% shadow Metagross, will start leveling up my other low IV shadows,seeing this was very interesting

      Nice! Ever Since slowpoke comm day I’ve been grinding for candies for my hundo beldum. I quick caught it because I thought that the Ivs would suck.

    Thanks for the video and explanation Brandon! That said, I don't like the way Niantic implemented Shadows - they're too OP. A 0% Shadow should not be better than a 100% regular. Otherwise, why should I spend money chasing 100% Legendaries?

    so it looks like the trend is max any 3 star shadow. thanks! very helpful.

    Now you need a part 2: 100% shadow Ttar vs 0% shadow Ttar.

    • @grievous8431
      @grievous8431 2 года назад

      thats obvious, the 100% shadow would be better

    you’re fighting very low level Pokémon’s. It’s primarily DPS that’s being taken into account.
    So basically a 0 star with 15 attack tyrannitar would perform the same as your 100% in this test.

    Is the 20% bonus dmg for shadow better than mega boost? I have a 96% shadow latios and feel tempted to purify it to have a mega hundo. What you guys think?

    • @WindDevil1
      @WindDevil1 Год назад +1

      probably a bad idea, since you can probably get a good one (doesn't need to be 100%) from doing normal raids, but you will never get another 96% chadow latios lol

    Is a shadow pokemon with 80% IV better than a shadow pokemon with 0% IV? Please make a video?

  • @by_nico
    @by_nico 2 года назад +4

    No wonder that a shadow wins bacause 20%+ damage is more that +15atk
    But against legendarys it is not the best idea to use such low iv ones for defense 😂
