So for WINNER to really top the music charts in their 2 songs and even b-sides charting high was VERY IMPRESSIVE. They were called MONSTER ROOKIES for a reason and their debut album charted #1 too. As someone mentioned in music shows it literally was WINNER vs WINNER because both EMPTY and COLOR RING top the charts, viewer votes, and MV views were high. Because their debut was super successful, they got to do special performance in both mcountdown and on inkigayo with the song “DON’T FLIRT” which also became a popular b-side track. WINNER composed/co-wrote 95% of their debut album until now and they are very versatile composers. They can make you cry one moment and make you feel so good the next moment. They constantly experiment with their music, so sometimes you don’t know what you’re getting when they have a comeback. They also have good solo projects as well!! Mino released a couple solo albums. Yoon had his solo debut in 2013, but finally had a solo comeback and full solo album in 2021. Jinwoo had his solo debut in 2019 with a single. We are still waiting for an update about Hoony’s solo debut and full album. He said he was supposed to release music this year after preparing for the past 2-3 years. I think you might have heard "Empty" in one of the episodes of Mix and Match. WINNER + BI, Jay, and Bobby performed this song together. Having a ballad song for a group debut is really risky. But unexpectedly WINNER became the breathe of fresh air in Kpop during that time. "Empty" swept a lot of awards and this song made WINNER the fastest group to win in a music show after it was broadcasted. Thus, they were dubbed "Monster Rookie". If I'm not mistaken, it only took them 4 days to win. That's the fastest, and they still hold this record 'til now. Honestly, I love OT5 era but they really found their true color and sound in OT4 era. Regardless, all of their songs are worth it. Even their B-side song "For" became one of my favorites. Imagine B.I wrote a song after being heartbroken and told by YG to give it to Winner for their debut. In WinnerTV YG tells Winner that he didn't like any of the songs they were submitting for their debut album.... Except maybe one by Nam Taehyun at the time. And he said B.I was working hard making song after song living in the studios as a trainee.

As you may know one of Korea's top actors, Lee Sunkyun (from Parasite) passed at age 48 of suicide today....as he was being investigated for allegedly having done drugs in the past even though tests came out negative.... And hounded by the public online... Also cheated on wife. But I was so scared when B.I was getting hounded and getting hate messages and telling him to crawl into a hole and never appear on TV again, etc in 2019 even though his tests came back negative. B.I said he even thought he should never do music again but his fans were by his side and rooted for him and sent him recording machines, mics, etc even at this time encouraging him and hoping one day we will see him again. His Waterfall album tells us he went through hell by himself during these dark times.... But thank God B.I was always always one with a tough mentality. But it could've ended a whole different way. These ppl who write such hateful things without thinking how it can affect someone who's already down and depressed is just......ugh. I really hope it'll open up the minds and hearts of ppl in Korea to make them realize damn drug abuse is bad but it's not worth hating on the celeb to the point that the celeb feels they can never overcome this shame and disappointment to fans/public that they feel they need to pay with their one and only life! Too much stress and pressure... And they didn't hurt anyone! It's just too sad. What a waste of talent and of a beautiful life that gave many people joy in watching him.
