Hi guys, I noticed some old gravestones with a skull and bones, this means "Memento Mori" in Latin, which in turn means "Remember you must die", simply, make the best of the time remaining to you, we are all mortal. Enjoy your videos.
Where the video ended turn left and the shields road end is on the right and if you go straight ahead until the trees stop on your left hand side and follow the fence up the hill for a bit , their is supposed to be a clearing and some old timber markers that’s the Suicide graves . Also where you pulled up that place used to be Ramages garage with all the trucks when I left in 1970 . Yes it’s very sad to see Douglas water in this stage it’s starting to look like a third world country which is sad especially when I can remember how busy the place was . When we were at the school we used to go to the station and got to know a few of the drivers and they would let us on the steam trains I also remember the first diesel trains going on the line and then Beecham shut the lot down and the death of the pit did not help . That picture of the welfare hall got a shock when I saw the picture when we were kids it see😢 a lot bigger , and then all the various other fields and tidy gardens out the back oh dear all gone just memories nowadays . I remember when the old bridge was damaged with the floods in the early sixtys then they put up a temporary Bailey bridge which was their for years and I see you got a new bridge . Used to be a great wee fish and chip shop in Douglas water just opposite John Simms sweety shop always remember him selling single cigarettes lol ah the times we had lol fantastic job the both of you certainly great watching
Looks a beautiful place, I must try and go up there next time I'm up home. Thanks Chris & Alan.
