Can I just say, I LOVE that you do land acknowledgments at the beginning of all of your videos. Such a simple thing, but so many people forget to pay respects. Love all of your vids man, keep it up
The "mock moc toe stitch" is called a skin stitch. It is purely decorative (i.e., it does not attached the two pieces of leather). The skin stitch can be done by hand, like on some Aldens, or by machine.
Love these videos as always! Wanted to point out another MBA thing (or anti-MBA?) about their pricing and philosophy: No Sales. The complete avoidance of discounts for anything still in production really helps. Any brand with standard (or even discount averse) pricing will have a List price, and then a whole host of things that can bring it down, either individually or in tandem. Thus many brands' "$350" boot / shoe will have an average sell-price in the high $200's. And that sale price is booked in from the start. Lastly, Thursday seem to have been able to hold to a true D2C model for much longer than any other brands I can think of, which is impressive. Also, I have this boot and I like it more than my Wolverine 1000 miles. TO the point that I'm tempted to get their Made in the USA clone of it!
I own (3) pairs of Thursday boots, and have tried 4-5 other pairs. Their support team is amazing, extremely responsive, courteous, and they take pride in satisfaction .
Nice review. I've had my first pair of Thursday Boots for a week now - the Captain in Matte Black and have been very happy with them so far. Really beautiful boots in my opinion. Look great paired with black jeans and a black tee for a casual look.
I started watching your channel about two months ago and am already a loyal follower. Maybe also because I lived in Singapore for a long time, your accent (I guess) gives me a warm feeling and brings back old memories. I benefit a lot every time I watch your show. What I feel most profoundly is the interpretation of the structure of boots. The knowledge accumulated in applicable scenarios, and a lot of down-to-earth life. I've also followed other big channels on RUclips for a long time, but none seem as easy to follow as your comment. At least for me, it's nothing wrong with them; maybe it's just that I still have a typical oriental mindset. Thank you for allowing us to share your knowledge, hobbies, and fun. Keep up the excellent work.
I was thinking about a pair in this color, but swapping out the laces for Thursday’s Kevlar ones in black and yellow… just to give a bit of contrast. Nice review as usual 😊
I like your style and the info presented. I have had bad luck with Thursdays customer service dept. in the past, They wouldn’t exchange a pair of boots that didn’t fit ( to small) for a pair that would fit, but I’m not completely soured on the quality of their product yet. They don’t understand the value of a good, satisfied customer when compared to the cost of a dissatisfied customer. I subbed and liked.
i just got a pair of these badboys in burnt copper. they’re my first nice boots and am really happy with the purchase. they look super stylish with jeans. ✌️😊
Just received my pair of Diplomats in matte black. So far I'm absolutely loving them. Very comfortable and versatile as you said. A few other thoughts: I wear a 10 in the Hero and Captains but a 10.5 in the Diplomats as they seem to be made slightly smaller than Thursdays other boots. Also, they are NOT similar to sneakers other than the non-heeled sole. They are a good 2.5 to 3 times as heavy as any sneakers I've ever worn and not nearly as "cushy", even when compared to Thursdays minimalist sneakers (I have a pair in the cacao). They are easy to wear and look vaguely similar to a black leather/white soled sneaker but that's where the similarities end. In my opinion anyways. They are a boot. Period. Anyways, thanks for your very informative and honest videos👍
I purchased these in the burnt copper leather about a week and a half ago. About 4 wears in and they're becoming very, very comfortable. There was some pressure on my pinky toes but that's abating nicely. I have had zero complaints as far as QC and they're getting a nice patina from the dye in my jeans
I have the same boots in Burnt Copper and had the same issue. It took a month or thereabouts for it to soften up for me (although I wasn't wearing them everyday).
Oh, and by the way, one of my suggestions if you could consider turning up the volume of the video. This is what I found compared to other channels. If the decibel is raised, there will be a lot of background noise. I am not sure if it is a problem with the recording equipment or the environment is too quiet. Everything else is perfect and unique. 🤭
Got to love RUclips. Well done. So great to have a talented business consultant share his boot passion with us. Question. I just received a pair. Will the toe box stretch a bit? They are a little snug but I have only worn them around the house because I might need to return for a wider size.
I would also like to see you review the DIEVIER Nomad. The sides of their boots appear to be constructed differently than most of the moc toes I have seen.
Always came to watch the reviews and stayed to see you styling the boots with some cool clothes combinations. Thanks for the video. I’m waiting for the second video for the Jim Green’s African Rangers.
Hi, doing home inspections. Not expecting these to last forever but I don't want to ruin my IR or 1000 Mile boots doing my job. Just need something in black that looks good, comfortable, and gives me protection in crawl spaces under homes. @@Bootlosophy
I do like the Tbc moctoes but the Dievier (real moctoes ) are more elegant & casual as the time. You should do a review on them. Dievier's sizing is the same as TBc
I hear quite a lot about how common traditional work boots like the Red Wing 875 are but have to admit I have never seen anybody (apart from myself) wearing wedge sole boots in the UK. Obviously Red Wing, Thursday and other sell a fair number of these in the UK to people like myself but I don't think they are really worn by trades people or factory workers and they seem to be an American phenomenon. Regarding sizing, I have two pairs of these and I found I needed to size them half a size larger than the Captain/President etc. and this is due to the toe box feeling a little cramped for height. I agree that they do serve as very good, rugged sneaker alternatives and the arch support is better than most boots which is a bonus for me.
Only now i know Thursday don’t recommended apply conditioner on their boot. I’ve apply venetian shoe cream on my Thursday Diplomat Arizona Adobe and I don’t see any negative impact on my boot.
Looks like much better quality than a pair from AE I own. The AE pair has low quality leather and the sole separated. In fact, I might just replace them with the diplomat.
Very nice. Thursday had some attractive design. It's a shame the toe box is narrow and they only offer wider widths for models I'm not interested in. Wonder if their vangard made in USA is any good
The only thing that really stopped me from buying these is the toe area. I have seen too many pictures showing that after normal wear, the toe area begins to look frumpy and look collapsed. I still prefer RW.
Its a bit confusing that this leather is called black matte rugged and resilient, and their captains in black matte leather looks much more matte and almost like a different leather. Do you feel that is the case too? Im looking at getting the presidents in black matte, but hesitant because the leather looks shiny and very black as opposed to thr captain
I have a pair of these boots but I never wear them. They seem heavier and stiffer then necessary so I tend to wear hikers or Icebugs. I tend to like sneakers with modern glue tech and I'm not feeling welt tech. Sorry.
LOL to each their own and that’s fine! BTW the more you wear them (break in) the softer, more supple and comfy they become, then they last way longer than immediately comfy glue tech.
the soft glove leather is used in lowa hiking boots made in germany too. in my boots it is a white cream color and lines the whole inside of the boot. it is the softest leather i ever felt except for a pair of leather gloves i have.
Interesting. Mine, especially the Thursday Chrome smell of beautiful leather, but I’ve heard others have had maybe too much glue in the soles and they smell glue
Thanks so much for the review & kind words!

Did you go down a half a size in the diplomats? Are you happy you did? Thank you.
Wow, never thought of it like that, but yes, Thursday IS the Hyundai of the boot world. Great review!!

Thank you - and a bit of Singers stays on the tongue no matter how long you’ve been away!
I’ve watched many Diplomat reviews. This one is the best of them. Nice job and thanks!
Just found your Channel and I’m really enjoying your reviews, very informative well explained and you touch on subjects some other reviewers don’t
Best shoe review I've ever seen hands down. Well done!!! And thank you
I was thinking about a pair in this color, but swapping out the laces for Thursday’s Kevlar ones in black and yellow… just to give a bit of contrast. Nice review as usual 😊
Super informative, thank you. I loved your car comparisons. It really explains well the value of this boot~

Thank you for the review on the Diplomat. I own two pairs of Thursday's Scout (chukka) and love them. This will be my next boot purchase.
So glad I found you. I love you and the info you convey.

I live your channel! Thank you for the excellent review from Phoenix Arizona! ❤❤❤❤

I have these. Nice review and great detail! I appreciate all the different looks you showed with these.

I’ve been really trying to fix this with different mics and things!
I have that exact pair. One of my favorites.

Mine haven’t stretched but a cobbler may be able to stretch it for you
Really enjoy your approach and presentation on these boots. Thank you
Enjoy your videos Ted. Got to visit Australia a few months ago. Sydney and the Northern Territory. Hope to go back soon.
Fantastic review 👏
Great videos, friendly and informative!

Just ordered a pair of the black diplomat today as my new work boots as black is a requirement and at this price point worth a shot.
Hmmm, what kind of work? I’m not sure they’d take the type of work a Thorogood or Red Wing could take.

Wedge sole work boots are an entirely US thing. None here in Oz either.
Only now i know Thursday don’t recommended apply conditioner on their boot. I’ve apply venetian shoe cream on my Thursday Diplomat Arizona Adobe and I don’t see any negative impact on my boot.
Nice review!!
I think we have the same sized foot let me know if you resell anything! Our grant stone sizes sound very similar

I’m not a fan of the Vanguard last
Do you happen to know what the heel to toe drop is on this model? Thanks
No I don’t, I’m sorry
Absolutely love your reviews! I don’t understand why you don’t have an extra zero or 2 added to your subscriber numbers!
Thank you!
Can you talk about Allen Edmonds Dalton Boot.
The only thing that really stopped me from buying these is the toe area. I have seen too many pictures showing that after normal wear, the toe area begins to look frumpy and look collapsed. I still prefer RW.
Boot trees usually is what is suggested to fix this issue on all toe collapse on boots, moc toe or plain toe or cap toe.

Do you feel that is the case too? Im looking at getting the presidents in black matte, but hesitant because the leather looks shiny and very black as opposed to thr captain
Yeah, I’m pretty sure all their black mattes are slightly different
Thursday may not be a high end brand of boots according to the RUclips cobblers, but they make a sleek, handsome looking product at a fair price.
I have a pair of these boots but I never wear them. They seem heavier and stiffer then necessary so I tend to wear hikers or Icebugs. I tend to like sneakers with modern glue tech and I'm not feeling welt tech. Sorry.

these black matte boots look good. they look like an oily leather
The challenge I have with Thursday Boots is that the leather reeks of chemicals. Has anyone else had similar experience?
Interesting. Mine, especially the Thursday Chrome smell of beautiful leather, but I’ve heard others have had maybe too much glue in the soles and they smell glue
Nice to see a guy who's been around a while doing boots reviews. Not another damn millennial hipster scumbag. Hahahaha.
