Appleboy78165 That’s one of the reasons why I love it and argue the haters of this movie. Kevin was great in this moment. He didn’t have to take on Marv and Harry again. He was in the clear and could have gone to the police but he knew they wouldn’t believe a kid so he put himself in danger to protect the hospital kids. Very heroic.
I would have agreed, especially with how insanely funny it is, but it was extremely over the top and unrealistic, how does one get seesawed smashing their back through a cars roof, hit with 4 bricks in the head/face, severely electrocuted, suffer a proximity explosion (Harry in the bathroom), hit with a 100 pound bag in the face coming full force, get hit from a high point with a huge metal pipe in the head/face and not even at least be hospitalized? It felt too cartoonish to be considered superior to the first movie, which had a more realistic battle between Kevin and the Wet Bandits and better execution of the story
That said, it is still one of the 2 best (and good) home alones in the series because Macaulay Culkin, the McCalister family, and Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern just do Home Alone like no one else can
John Williams's ability to seamlessly switch mood on the fly is something I admire. He slowly builds up the tension with a shared common tone between the old key from, "Christmas Star," to the "Preparing The Trap" cue. The mischievous theme he wrote as Kevin prepares the trap is great, with a couple of the motifs that signify the genius gleeful vision Kevin has of our two villains stupidly falling for his traps. John Williams has written so many iconic themes that many people know, but don't know about the composer himself.
HOODZ: This time, Kevin didn't HAVE to do anything. But being the good kid he is, he chose to save Christmas from children against his arch enemies. He didn't let Harry and Marv get away with robbing his house, but this time, he wasn't going to let them take money from needy kids on Christmas. This is the movie that made a hero out of Kevin and I love it for that.
I actually love the reason Kevin is going after Marv and Harry this time. It’s not to protect his home. It’s because there going after orphans and children. As a kid he could relate so he wanted to protect them. He didn’t have to go after them. But it was the right thing to do. I like his motivations in this better.
He was the kids' hero even though it was so tough for him as he had the battle past midnight unlike when he was his family's hero by battling the two guys supposedly before midnight.
He was also fighting for Mr. Duncan because he's a kind store owner who always donated the money that he makes to the children's hospital. To have Harry and Marv steal it just so they can hightail it to a foreign country was something Kevin wasn't tolerating.
@@z_6077 It's reasonable to protect your house, and it's reasonable to protect thousands of children. It's just more noble and humbling to prefer to protect others rather than yourself - that's the whole point of why his reasoning is more respectable in this one, it's for non-selfish reasons.

Agreed. But I'd rather wait by 2023 to copy Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the Jim Carrey Grinch movie, Christmas Is Here Again, Ice Age, and Finding Nemo.
No Christmas movie will ever beat Home Alone 1 & 2. Love them both but Prefer the second over the first. The best part of both films is when Kevin gets inspired to start and implements the battle plan and this awesome music plays, sends a shiver up my spine every time! I'll always love Home Alone!
@@zk6754 To point out there is a Home alone 4, 5 and a reboot one. 4 and 5 are the worse ones in my opinion, it’s not really fun to watch. There is no much happening. The reboot I kind of like a little, but the first 2 movies are leandary 🤙
The first movie is legendary on it's own, the second movie isn't just another cash grab sequel, it takes what made the first film great and either improved on it, or amped it up to 11. One of the only times i liked the sequel better than the original.
Kevin' s transition from emotional to battle mode mood , always a classic one . John Williams at best ! '' Another X -mas in the trenches ! '' A fugal composed theme like Bach gives an extra level to the track . Orchestration is genious !
For some reason, I like this version of Setting the Trap a lot better than the first one, which is still great. The reason in particular is between 2:46 and 2:52 or so, there’s a new cue John Williams added that just sounds so awesome to me. Almost gives Kevin a legendary status of some kind, but then again, that’s cause Williams’ music makes anyone badass haha.
Kevin set up traps that he knew would be lethal to normal humans simply because these guys have all damage dealt to them divided by 10 and increased regeneration of their health whenever they are being filmed.
In reality, Harry would not have a chance to bleed to death from an explosion like that, as it lit up the whole first floor and could be seen and heard out on the street!

Kevin has the audio and photo evidence and he can easily send it to the police, and the police would have been on high alert to search the city for 2 maximum security escape inmates from Chicago.
