- After replacing the factory airbox with individual podfilters the right way to compensate proper airflow/fuel mixture is by replacing the main- and pilot jets in your carburator. This video shows most steps in the process. The result is a much smoother running and more responsive engine.
If you have issues with your air/fuel mixture after placing pod filters, this is absolutely the best way to solve them. Make sure you buy the right jet kit, based on your specific filters and driving specs. If you have questions, feel free to ask. Видеоклипы
I like how you skipped all the little screws and spring placement in the valve info I needed lol
You mean the screws on the inner of the slides? Yeah, those were annoying to get back in lol
Nice work. About to pick apart my own carb on my Radian 👍
Durspells,
I'm working on mine (86' Radian)at the moment as well. I'll let you in on any bumps I run into. I ordered the stage 3 kit from 6Sigma as well.
Great! Good luck!
@@zelissen Thanks for the motivation! Hey, since I have you on here, I have a couple of questions for you, if that's cool. Did you have to tweak anything after the cleaning and upgrade? Did you back the fuel screws out 3 turns equally on each carb? And did you have to wrap the pod filters with anything for side wind? I keep reading about wind vortexes and crap.
@@wtbofnc7880 No problem, feel free to ask. I think that when you decide to actually upgrade or make any changes to your carbs you should already be assuming that tweaking afterwards is necessary. First I went with how it's described in the manual, like with the 3 turns out on each pilot screw etc. And I had no problems on my first rides. A bit of trouble came after riding longer distances. Happily I was able to solve this with some tweaking of the pilot screws and throttle screw. Adjust everything very carefully until the bike runs smooth. Another great tool to help with this is a color tune. It's basically a transparent spark plug that indicates whether you got too much air or fuel. If you got too much airflow, your air pod filters might be the problem. I never did any adjustments to my air filters. Although I think it's always the best choice to go with high quality ones. Hope this info helps!
TenFinger StringSlinger Thanks so much for your time! Very much appreciated!
My Radian throttle does not return quickly when closed, are you located anywhere near SC, are you into fixing my carbs like you show above? If so please let me know. Thanks for the video.
I'm from Europe, so unfortunately no. But I once had this problem. I was able to fix it by adjustment of the cable tension. If that doesn't help, you might want to try turning the throttle screw underneath your carbs (2:02). What this does is, when turned clockwise, it opens all 4 carb vales a bit further at the same time. Maybe yours is too wide open so fuel can still flow through, even when you close the throttle. Hope it helps. If not, let me know.
Can you tell us what size jets you used? And if you did an exhaust or stock pipes?
I used two 122.5-mb and two 105-mb for the main jets. And four 32.5-mpjn for the pilot jets. I ordered the Jet Kit at 6 Sigma. They can help you define your exact needs based on your specs. I replaced the stock pipes with shorty mufflers a long time ago.
Recently replaced all my old, cracked carb boots and rebuilt the carbs but was dumb and bought a cheap rebuild kit on eBay. Now it idles at around 4,000 rpm with the main adjustment all the way down. I think the pilot jets they gave me are too big. Need to find compatible parts but can’t find the model number for the carbs anywhere, what model are these?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I don't know the model number of the carbs. But it should be no problem to figure this out. Maybe you're able to find it through a manual on badrad600.com? Btw, why don't you try tighter pilot jets?
What did you do with the Crankcase vent hose once you removed the airbox?
I bought a longer piece of hose and curved it so it's facing down to the ground. Use a tiewrap to keep it in place. The opening is simply for venting, so that'll do.
@@zelissen thanks so much for that!
Lovely video! 👍 thank you
👍
Hi, have you any adress for membrans? Two membrans are broken and blow by.
No sorry, I don't. But maybe you can find a spare parts Radian dealer? Depending on where you live...
Diaphragm in my carburetor have harden where can I find replacement for them have the same bike
Your best chances are to ask at a Radian spare parts dealer. Good luck!
Did you adjust the float level ?
Nope
I need to clean up my carbs and I plan on switching to pod air filters like you did, what would I need to do differently for that? Like size of jets?
Depends on the bike and filters you have. And the conditions you ride in. Altitude, avarage temperature, driving style, etc.
Awesome Johnny Cash song but this vid taught me nil.
Then you either already knew everything that's in the vid and comments, or you haven't found the thing you were looking for.
Did you have to tune the bike after doing this to it?
Yes. Take into account that this will be necessary after rejetting.
@@zelissen and how would I go about doing so? I’m literally lost man I just want my bike back lol
@@kaynray9292 Got a some more info? Did you already do a full rejet, and what are you running into?
I haven’t re jetted it yet I’m just not sure how to tune it
It’s an 86 radian straight piped new pod filters and now I’m going to install new stage 3 jets from six sigma
Sell me the carburetors
I need a replacement of my yamaha yx 600 carburetors
Sure, though it comes with a bike.
