I saw another video of a group playing Lethal Company and they came short of making the quota when they came back. One guy resorting to killing his teammates to try and make the quota. He succeeded in fulfilling the quota by murdering his teammates and giving their corpses to the company.

Chances of that are pretty high another possibility is he runs out of time and the ship leaves also Bob your death was avoidable if you kept moving cause I'm pretty sure you can crouch and move without getting their attention you don't actually have to stand still although that's usually the safer optio.
