When I told my doctor about my tics she suggested adhd/autism.. I went away and did my research. Then moved house and got a new doctor. I asked about a referral for assessment and he told me 'it'd have been picked up by now'. I then began rhyming off everything from the top of my head that indicates ND's and he told me to stop and he would refer me lol. Exhausting having to fight.
@@toni5543 I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through such a frustrating experience in order to get a referral for assessment. It can be difficult when healthcare providers do not take our concerns seriously, but it's important to remember that you have the right to advocate for yourself and seek the care you need. It's also important to find a healthcare provider who listens to you and takes your concerns seriously. Keep in mind that getting a diagnosis for ADHD or autism can be a lengthy and complicated process, but it can also be a valuable step towards getting the support and resources you need to manage your symptoms and live your life to the fullest.
@Exceptional Individuals thank you so much for your lovely reply! I for now am OK being self identified while I wait. I learn more every day about how it affects me. In part due to these videos you so thoughtfully provide. Thank you Exceptional Individuals! I appreciate you all x
