Iranian presidents are chosen by council of mullahs and approved by the supreme leader. No primaries or campaigning. It's controlled opposition, the only question is how aggressive he's going to be about exporting terrorism.

Very good. This guy has a lot of progressive ideas for Iran like allowing people to protest the government without sending in the army to stop them, and equal rights for women. We shall see wether or not he is able to use his power to bring lasting change. Most western news outlets will label him as "anti american" because a couple of years back he had a problem with the USA flying their killer drones within the airspace. And since this guy thinks that America should not be able to do whatever they want with Iran he is considered "anti american"
but tldr yes this is a real good thing for Iran

North Korea because during the Korean war we LITERALLY blew up the entire peninsula causing untold suffering. And Iran because after they finally overthrew their monarchy and became a democracy in the 1950s we (the USA & UK) came in and OVERTHREW THEIR ELECTED PRESIDENT AND INSTALLED THE OLD KING BACK INTO POWER AS A PUPPET DICTATOR.
