1993 Anglers Paradise

In 1993, Headford & Corrib Anglers organised the Wetfly Master Angler competition on Lough Corrib. This clip, 20 minutes in duration, captures some of the joy & excitement from that weekend.

I had a chance to fish Corrib in 2004 , my Ghillie/ boat owner was a Patrick Molloy , i have never seen such a giant man whose age i could not tell, but the finest man in nature and spirit I have ever met , if i am lucky God might let me have a cast with him on the new Earth because for sure God will have to put corrib on that new Earth and Patrick will be his boat man. If i had been a good fisherman i would have caught a hundred fish given the fish rising he put me over , but i wasn't , he kept rising fish and i kept missing, eventually he landed 2 , more because he promised a person a brace and was that ok with me, absolutely it was, cause i got to see those fine fish, i feel he could have filled the whole boat if he had really wanted to , but generously trying to let me catch the fish , and then under the most childlike instruction hooked me into a beauty , I wasn't using polaroid lenses which he thought i was silly me. I had a great time all the same just sitting on a boat out there is a magical experience beyond explanation , and Oughterard served a great pint of the black stuff.

I am lucky enough to live near the Corrib. It is a magical place, no doubt about that.
