I remember watching this game at our grandparents house and cheering for our cousin Ken Clark! I realized that day he was good enough to play pro football which amazed me because I looked up to him and worked out with and had my own college football dreams that came true! Hard fought game and one of the best memories I have as a young man! Husker win!! RIP Big Cuzz!!
I don't think that many fans realize that only Heisman Trophy Winner Mike Rozier ran for more yards for Nebraska in the 1980's then Ken Clark did. Granted, Doug DuBose missed his entire senior year in 1986 with a blown out knee. And in Jeff Smith's Senior year 1984, he missed several games after leading the nation in rushing early. By the same token Clark missed the last 3 or 4 games of his sophomore year with a hamstring pull. Ken also played through allot of injuries as a Junior and Senior, but I think if he had had a bigger senior year he would be better remembered today. Had stayed healthier in 89, I believe he would have surpassed the 1,500 yards he ran for in 1988.
This was the ONLY game of the Switzer era where the OU running game was held under 100 yrds rushing... LEGENDARY performance by Charlie McBride's Blackshirts that day!!!
Early in season Neb lost at Troy Aikman UCLA and OU lost at Rodney Peete USC.. if both had won then this game would have had winner play Notre Dame in Orange Bowl for NC... ❤
when Barry was interested in coaching football, he was the best. Barry's outside interests sometimes got the best of him. 81 82 83 the stock scandal and the cocaine arrests were the bad years. Other than early 80's, the man was almost unbeatable.

I was at the game with a couple of friends and we ran on the field after the game. The drive back to Omaha that night was miserable in heavy snow.

Two ground-and-pound offenses, on a rainy, windy day.... the way football used to be played. I wish it was still played like this.
The week before, Nebraska beat Colorado 7-0!
Love that wet 1980s putting green style field. The Blackshirts played mean that day. Broke a string of several Sooner Magic wins.
The first OU game I can recall watching.
Ken Clark R.I.P.
Today's sissy pass football bores the shit out of me.
Sissy pass shotgun offense is the main reason I have no interest in the nfl which is now the pfl.
THE( KING) BARRY SWITZERS LAST GAME AT OKLAHOMA

The Kings last game was against Clemson in the citrus bowl
@@dr.deathstevewilliamsou7678 I meant last game played in Norman.. But You are Right
Jake Young R.I.P.
Barry Switzer era ending with a thud
You obviously don't play around with requests. Thanks.
What planet am I on today? Ozzy beat Switizer! No way.
We're still trying to figure out where exactly you came from
OU was the better team in 85. NU was better in 84, 86, and 87. OU still won. Just killed me.
OU was better in 84,85,86,87!!! That is why we won!! 88 Nebraska was the better more experience team!! Both great teams and great coaches!!!
@@jeremybriscoe7130 if OU had a healthy Holiway at QB they win the big eight title in 88
Jess Kelley I totally agree brother
just awful football. hard to watch any of that too.
Handoff, option, sweep every play...this was so boring.
