    Great tutorial. Tip: when you fly CASE III (which is the one you will use ICLS all the way for), the tacan course will eventually be changed to the final bearing, and hot ship's heading.

      Yes. I expect to do the Case 2 when the supercarrier module is released.

    Thank you for this, F/A-18 tutorials didn't cover how to turn on the ICLS so I was always missing something.

    Nice video, very clear on how to go about landing on the carrier, I hate when some people try to explain but they talk super fast that you can't understand what the hell they are saying.

    Why do I feel like Jon Snow is teaching me how to land a Hornet?

  • @Schneids
    @Schneids Год назад

    i gotta start using this and practice with it. Almost had to land in a cloud the other day but luckily made it to the deck just before we hit the fog

    A good video. But the descent rate at touchdown looks over 800'/min. Did you get u/c warning horn? Is there a way to shut it down? Thanks 👍

    • @supanova88
      @supanova88  4 месяца назад

      It's a long while since I last landed the Hornet on a carrier, but I don't recall hearing a warning. The Hornet is built for a solid touch down, after all.

    You said to set the carrier course to 347 degree. My question is, the 347 is the BRC of the boat, correct?

    • @supanova88
      @supanova88  4 года назад +1

      I'm really setting the course as a cross refernece to the localiser. I will cover BRC when we get to Case 3.

    I understand why you chose the Alt display to Radar alt - is this actual SOP on doing the ICLS in a real Hornet?

    You said by 0.5 mile, your altitude should be 200 feet. However, yours was 270 feet!!

    • @supanova88
      @supanova88  4 года назад +7

      It was actually 250, which is 50 feet higher than perfect, but I'd rather be 50 feet too high than 50 feet too low at that point.

    • @Phvpark
      @Phvpark 4 года назад +1

      rule of thumb, fast and high is better than low and slow, when high the worst that can happen is a bolter or wave off, low you have the risk of smacking the plane on the back of the ship

    This video is not for beginners. You must already know how to get to AOA, and how AoA works before trying this.

      I would hope landing on solid ground would have been mastered before attempting a carrier landing.

    I always want to punch myself because I don’t know why the Icls never shows on my hud. Then I panic because I realize I didn’t hit the hsi button. Of course that happens at .3 miles... thank the dcs gods there’s 4 wires...
