Timmy was supposed to only be a one-off character, but after his first appearance (two episodes before this), his popularity exploded practically overnight, so Trey and Matt made this episode to capitalize on it. That's how Timmy got upgraded from a one-off to a recurring character.

Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld made it so big that they were even on Rock Band in the 2010's.
They made fun of Phil Collins in this episode because he beat them at the Grammy's for best song in a movie. They were nominated for Blame Canada from the South Park movie but Phil Collins won for You'll Be In My Heart from Tarzan.

Timmy's first episode was actually Tooth Fairy's Tats 2000. This was the first episode where he's the central character
Timmy's first appearance was on "Tooth Fairy's Tats 2000" where he only appeared in one scene. Comedy Central, the show's broadcasting network was heavily against Trey & Matt airing a handicapped episode because they thought they'd make him a butt of the joke character (hence the haters in the ep), but they intended Timmy to be a fully-fledged character that was capable of doing whatever the other boys could do and someone who everyone else thought was cool to have hanging around, so they let him appear and he became an instant huge hit. He was so popular that the number one catchphrase of the show for the rest of the year was "TIMMY!", people even called that out to Trey and Matt when they saw him in public instead of doing Cartman impressions! Also they were really mad-dogging Phil Collins because they lost in the Oscars to him, when they'd rather anyone else but him, so that's why they made him a real douche and had his Oscar stuck where the sun don't shine!
My brother is severely Autistic. Since he was a toddler, he loved this episode specifically. We had the DVD of Season 4, and this resonated with him the most. Even though he mostly loves Pixar and VeggieTales, he still loves Timmy a lot.

I'm so ancient, I remember when the Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld CD single (yes this was a real thing) was being sold at my local (now long since closed) On Cue.
Yes, there are many movies of Great Gatsby, with the most recent one being the one from 2012 with toby maguire. It's worth watching and reading the book.
Fun fact there is a 1926 version that is sadly lost to time with only remaning is a trailer of it. The actual author F. Scott Fitzgerald did see it and was appalled by it.
The ADD/ADHD info video is still one of the best jokes in South Park. Kids today think even millennials and before had therapy and drugs. No, we got a smack to the back of the head and learned. Was it right? Probably not, but it was effective
idk im diagnosed with adhd and im gen z, ive been beat so hard that i wake up with bruises and dragged across the backyard. it didnt make my adhd any better, it just made it worse. adhd isnt just bad behavior, its physically being unable to hold your concentration and feeling so much restlessness that you want to rip your skin off. ill spend hours upon hours studying for something that shouldve taken 20 minutes, and even when trying as hard as i possibly can to focus on what a teacher is saying, it does not process in my head. i hear the words but it feels like processing another language.
@chriscintron3320 and I've talked to people that need actual help. That's why I'm happy we've come a long way from being beaten and hit. There are ways people can get the time, energy and patience people really need. The way they process the world isn't wrong, it's just different. I haven't been diagnosed with anything, but I've had a lot of people say I probably have borderline Aspergers. I could see it, really. In the end, though, seeing the world in a different way, if listened to and given the time, can open up others eyes to this new way and maybe make things better for everyone. I know I got medication for my ADD/ADHD, and it helped when I was a kid, but it stopped when I grew older

Check out The episode titled 4th Grade, that's another great Timmy episode. And the idea of Phil Collins was that Matt and Trey lost the Oscar to him for his song on a Disney movie. This whole episode is basically one giant middle figure to him.

I remember taking Ridilin in 5th or 6th grade.. ‘95-‘96.. that shit made me a zombie. What’s funny is that, it didn’t help me pay attention because I still wasn’t interested in the subject, I just really focused on not doing anything. It’s like being fine with being bored. Thankfully, my grams helped me get off of it early because she was against it.
I remember I was embarrassed to tell anybody and I would have to go to the nurses office a few min before lunch everyday to take it. Eventually my friends started asking me why I got to be excused early for lunch lmao. That stuff is not for kids imo. Im sure by now there’s better ways of reaching/teaching children that have add without having to medicate them.
I got wrongfully diagnosed with ADHD, got all the medication. The suspicion cam from me not cooperating with some doctors and not focusing on logic puzzles when i was like ten years old.
It really felt like this book test from the episode.

I don't remember the pink monsters but I do remember Ritalin being a hell of a med back in the day.
Helped 4-5th grade me focus (also needed glasses and wanted to sit at back or the class) but Ritalin made me gain a lot of weight, it would wear off when I got home and I would eat junk food and pass out.

actual way to test for ADHD: give them coffee, people with ADHD react to stimulants opposite to how normal people do. ironically the portrayal of stan and kyle on Ritalin would indicate they DO have ADHD; Ritalin is basically meth, so if you gave it to a kid and they didn’t have ADHD… you’d know. However there’s little evidence that Ritalin improves outcomes after the first 14 months of treatment, it seems to improve classroom manageability more than anything else.

"they cant put attention 7 hours straight" thats the point bro, thats school for you, its almost like you actively trying to ignore the _Social Critique_ in every episode, this time around matt and trey are criticizing the school system and the doctors who prescribe performance chems to children under the age of 10 because they cant assimilate everything they see in school in the 7 hours filled with unending information they are supposed to remember until the test, then they can just forget it, then learn it over again when they need it, school rarely teaches any skill that is useful in real life, other than writting, reading and basic math, anything else wont get you a good job, kids need to learn how they can obtain and retain new knowledge depending on an tangible need, bombing them with useless info and expecting them to conquer ignorance using only memory is the wrong strategy, thats not how intelligence work, intelligence is adapting fast to new situations, life is not like school, in life you are suppose to constantly gain new skills on the go, no such thing as people teaching you things and then making a quiz, irl the quiz is handed to you first then you discover the answers yourself.
