  • In this Video we’ll discuss Demand Controlled Ventilation, and the Controls used to manage the ventilation air. We’ll review the ASHRAE standards 62.1 (Ventilation) and 90.1 (Energy) and how they relate to ventilation. We’ll show you how to use the standards to calculate the required ventilation air rate (CFM) for a space.

    why in case of fire supply fan off and only extract fan is on ?

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  25 дней назад

      You don't want the supply fan to push toxic smoke into other areas of the building, as people often die of smoke inhalation before the fire reaches them. The exhaust fan can assist in smoke removal with a properly designed smoke system. Smoke evacuation systems are common in large indoor shopping malls, we just don't realize they are part of the design. Supply fans can be used for smoke control when the system is large enough to zone off areas of the building such as in high-rises where the floor above and below the fire might be in positive pressure (Supply) mode, and the floor with the fire in negative pressure (Exhaust). This contains the smoke to the floor where the fire is. Smoke control is a special area of engineering.

      @@MEPAcademy Thankyou for giving time to answer my query.

      @@MEPAcademy But why in high rise building in typical floor corridor during fire breakout smoke fan & make-up fan work together ? and in basement floor during fire breakout only smoke fan work and makeup fan is off ? what's the difference can u please elaborate ...

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  24 дня назад

      @@mepcotech Its all about controlling the smoke. If you only have one floor, the Basement, then you want to exhaust the smoke and not push around the smoke with forced makeup air. Check your local code for approved methods of smoke control.
