Passing the 60's Civil Rights era and back into the hell hole of a segregated and divided country with her rap rant inciting a racist rhetoric and race baiting hype she has inserted into this newest version of her song! Is this even looking for a message that can unite us? Will this generate support from someone of a different color? It’s a hate and fear mongering message that wants to exact revenge upon 'All' whites, instead of on the individual that murdered Mr. Floyd. Jump on the bandwagon of self loathing righteousness and you become the oppressor. The logic in the rap portion is the logic of an adolescent and wont be supported by rational, caring, intelligent, moral adults of any race, color, or creed.

God willing, peace and love will resolve all those stone cold hearts. I pray we learn to love rather than to cause pain. 🙌❤ Black Lives Matter. When you take a life, it's as though you took all that is connected to that life. You not only take the life, but cause pain to loved ones. May all those people who were targets of racial discrimination that lost their lives rest in peace. ❤
GCR Gaming if there are 2 houses, and one is one fire, are we going to put out both houses? No. You see what I’m getting at here? Yes, everyone is equal, but all lives can’t matter until black lives matter
That strange fruit hanging from my family tree. Y’all catch that Billie Holiday reference? Yoooo, she pays respect to generations passed who used their art to raise awareness. Homegirl is cultured. What a beautiful mind, body and spirit - thank you for that
Strange Fruit was written by songwriter Abel Meeropol also known as Lewis Allan. He was a white man. It was sung by Billie Holiday and Nina Simone among other artists. It was originally a poem written by Allan. Billie Holiday co-wrote the music to the song.
You must be joking. This song beat cardigan by Taylor swift. 🙄 another example of how wack the Grammys are. Black people have to stop believing that white people care about social justice.
You never disappoint in your music. Loyal HER fan for life. You been keepin involved in everything goin on from the beginning absolutely love you sis 🖤🙏🏾 Stay safe love your vibe
Well there are also other people who have had the same fate as George Floyd. As far as it goes, I’m not really a fan of how the protesters are “protesting”. Also, the media Is all about violence especially the far left ones so if we can stand together and just pray and hope that this ends, maybe we can become equal as people
@Kenny Olivier Nope, white south Africans created Apartheid. They are 9 percent of the population and own 80 percent of the wealth. White south Africans are not oppressed/suppressed. (Also what does this have to do with police brutality in America)
As a mostly white person from the rural south, I’d say if a white person cant see what’s been happening to black folks, then it’s because they don’t want to, you don’t even have to know any black folks to see what’s goin on, or to just you know, learn history and have the common sense to realize that there’s no way we’ve fixed the problems or gotten past racism yet. I’ve been telling people for years that they should listen to black folks because they see the problems with this country and are impacted by the crap that goes on way more than any of us. I’m very proud and inspired of all the good people standing up against injustice right now but I’m really afraid that we are about to be clamped down on like never before. What’s happened to black folks in America I would already call a holocaust, but I’m afraid what’s around the coroner is going to be even worse than that. We have to stand up and resist the system, it’s failing and falling apart and the oligarchs who run and benefit from the system are willing to do ANYTHING to keep that system in tact. We need a revolution now ✊🏿✊🏼✊🏾✊🏽✊🏻! We need a revolution and especially a revolution of values like MLK talked about, we as a society need to value human life, this country has never valued human life, it’s apparent in everything from policing to healthcare. Even in this once in a lifetime pandemic who is suffering the most? Black folks and poor folks. It’s the same shit over and over throughout everything, the whole system has got to go. Valuing human life should be at the center of everything instead of valuing money and power like we do now. I sincerely wish everyone here the best and never give up, keep fighting, all of us must fight, don’t just accept concessions either, we must go all the way and right every wrong.
This song touching my mind ,body ,heart and soul I’m over here in tears especially at “ will anybody fight for me “ is it bad I can’t stop playing this and blasting it 🥺
Love this song H.E.R., the beat is solid and your words strike an emotional cord in my soul. Added to my playlist for expressive jogging in the morning. Man, if this isn't a classic by the time I'm in my 50's; I'm a start my own movement. (Hoping for 'Fortunate Son' levels of notoriety for the 20's.)
Police were created as Race Soldiers from day one! Police have always hated us since slavery and were used to capture runaways.NOTHING HAS CHANGED AND THEY STILL SHOOT OUR PEOPLE IN BACK
@@jonah_hosea she means that in the sense that white ppl see the black community as smthn different and "ugly" who shouldnt be treated right whereas the black community thinks the opposite. This IS often the case, not always.
@@jonah_hosea i put quotation marks around bc ik that's not what most think and the song and specifically the video diverge deeper into segregation in America it was what most thought back then yet, it's less now.
It certainly is a powerful one, plus it's got a direct historical reference attached to it: it's taken from Billie Holiday's 1939 song, entitled "Strange fruit" (ruclips.net/video/Web007rzSOI/видео.html), which got her into trouble up to the FBI. It protested "the lynching of Black Americans, with lyrics that compare the victims to the fruit of trees. The song has been called 'a declaration of war' and 'the beginning of the civil rights movement'". Nina Simone then recorded it in 1965 (ruclips.net/video/BnuEMdUUrZQ/видео.html). Both versions are incredible, although Simone's one resonates stronger in me, perhaps because of the haunting piano "carpet", as well as her immense voice... Peace
Something Different this is too deep. It doesn’t fit their narrative to have this level of wokeness topping the charts. Not thotty enough unfortunately.
It's also $1.29 on iTunes. Profit from emotion and tragedy, lovely. She never mentioned donating the money from the sales of this song to BLM non-profits.
This can be the new national anthem😘 Just an indication of how badly things keep deteriorating into, and also how very good and on point these lyrics of HERs are
in 100-200 years this will be looked at the same way we look at quotes from MLK today, yet another generation of pain brilliantly summed up in just under five minutes.
Some people criticized I can't breathe because it won The Song of the Year but little of them know that the award is also a "Song Writers award" so yuuuupp it's not just about the catchy beats and melodies the song should have but importantly the song must also showcase the writing skills of the artist, and I think H.E.R really edged everyone on that and deserved to win the award 💕💕💕
This is the most beautifullest song I've ever heard in all of my 64 years. Could not have explained it any better as I sit here in my living room listening to it over and over. Thank you sisstar 👑

Trying times all the time
Destruction of minds, bodies and human rights
Stripped of bloodlines, whipped and confined
This is the American pride
It's justifying a genocide
Romanticizing the theft and bloodshed
That made America the land of the free
To take a black life, land of the free
To bring a gun to a peaceful fight for civil rights
You are desensitized to pulling triggers on innocent lives
Because that's how we got here in the first place
These wounds sink deeper than the bullet
Your entitled hands could ever reach
Generations and generations of pain, fear, and anxiety
Equality is walking without intuition
Saying the protector and the killer is wearing the same uniform
The revolution is not televised
Media perception is forced down the throats of closed minds
So it's lies in the headlines
And generations of supremacy resulting in your ignorant, privileged eyes
We breathe the same and we bleed the same
But still, we don't see the same
Be thankful we are God-fearing
Because we do not seek revenge
We seek justice
We are past fear, we are fed up
Eating your shit
Because you think your so-called "black friend"
Validates your wokeness and erases your racism
That kind of uncomfortable conversation is too hard for your trust-fund pockets to swallow
To swallow the strange fruit hanging from my family tree
Because of your audacity
To say all men are created equal in the eyes of God
But disparage a man based on the color of his skin
Do not say you do not see color
When you see us, see us

Never watched the Grammys, couldn't remember a time that I ever did. Just a huge fan. H.E.R. music is everything to me.
This song made me cry 😭 I love H.E.R 💕
I love H.E.R. she’s so amazing to me and it’s nothing but facts in this song

Such a powerful song. It makes me so emotional every time I hear it.
You must be joking. This song beat cardigan by Taylor swift. 🙄 another example of how wack the Grammys are. Black people have to stop believing that white people care about social justice.
It makes you feel like a victim and get attention congratulations
omg this song is beautiful
Congratulations H.E.R.! Continue sharing your talent to fight injustice and find equality

“if we can agree that we’re equal as people, then why can’t we see what’s evil” that THAT hits different
I mean we can, I don't really remember anyone disagreeing that george floyd was killed unfairly, do you?
@@Nephermoore Yeah, all the time. Also it's not just George Floyd who people have tried to justify.
Well there are also other people who have had the same fate as George Floyd. As far as it goes, I’m not really a fan of how the protesters are “protesting”. Also, the media Is all about violence especially the far left ones so if we can stand together and just pray and hope that this ends, maybe we can become equal as people
I read that the EXACT same time as she said that!

True that ooo!

"Strange fruit hanging from my family tree." Damn, man. That one hit.
This one gave me chills down my neck 😭
Peace

Some people criticized I can't breathe because it won The Song of the Year but little of them know that the award is also a "Song Writers award" so yuuuupp it's not just about the catchy beats and melodies the song should have but importantly the song must also showcase the writing skills of the artist, and I think H.E.R really edged everyone on that and deserved to win the award 💕💕💕
I can't think of another relevant artist who would make such a socially conscious song with such powerful poetry. This is what I subscribed for.
