After a lot of research we finally bit the bullet and ordered a Wonder Mill yesterday. Stumbled onto your video after the fact and you pointed out some things I had never even considered. This just confirmed I got the right one for our household. Thank you.
I have a Whispermill, had it for longer than 20 yrs. I am very happy with it. I had it happen sometimes, when it would stop working in the middle of grinding regular wheat or rye. Since the company does not exist anymore (not afraid to void the warranty), my husband took it apart, yes, it is possible. He cleaned it out and it was working again. I have heard that one should grind some corn once in a while, that gives it a good cleaning. Since I don't use it every day, I do wash the lid of the container and dry it as good as I can, then leave it upside down on the container to air dry any further, but I don't put everything back together yet. Then when I want to use it again, I put the lid back together, put the foam back in its place and put it onto the container again and I grind my grains. :)
I got the wonder mill in 2019 a year before the Covid outbreak and I was so blessed because you could not find flour anywhere. I had plenty of wheat berries both hard and soft and kept my family in bread and pastries.
That's awesome! I have never been more grateful for my grain mill and grains than when 2020 hit. I was considerably ahead of the game while everyone else was scrambling. I am truly thankful the Lord led us to do this a decade ago!
@@GrainsandGrit me too! I have just made my first order with azure standard and the prices of the whole wheat berries is so much cheaper than the price I was giving on Amazon. We live and learn and continue to grow I know God has put me on this path
@@Mindy56743 Yes, since Azure are wheat farmers as well you're buying directly from the source. Plus since it's coming with a co-op the shipping is way better.
I have the whisper mill. It looks just like yours. I got mine in 1996 when I first learned about the ability to grind my own wheat. I tell my friends that I’m like the little red hen, I grind my own wheat then bake my own bread. They are skeptical about eating my bakery goods because they’re used to buying at the store. I won’t get bakery goods from the store, I just can’t eat that anymore.
Yes!!! We are the Little Red Hens lol I always think of that too when I read the story. I’ve had people a little skeptical too, but when they try baked goods from freshly milled wheat they love it!
Is your mill still going strong? Considering buying a used Whisper Mill (they used it for about 8 years weekly and has been “resting” for two years) I’m hesitant to buy a Wonder Mill as full price just yet.
I had two nutrimills. I sold them both because my wife absolutely cannot have gluten. We’ve tried her on fresh milled flour and she still has trouble. I’m going to do a video and basically root for the wonder mill because the wonder mill doesn’t spout dust everywhere when re-grinding or re-milling Dry ingredients such as white rice and tapioca. The nutrimill cannot at all handle that because it blows it everywhere and it’s just a mess. Other than that the nutrimill fine. Funny story, one time on the Nutrimill the Hopper wasn’t pushed in all the way, and it blew flower all up into the motor into the mechanism and the motor speed rotary knob quit working after that. The thing was useless anyways, but it’s still kind of sucked. Anyways, I did take it all apart and basically refurbished it to get all that flour out of it. I’m very blessed to have the ability to take things apart and try to repair them! So anyone having to do gluten-free the flour from rice, tapioca, and so on needs to be really fine for the recipes to turn out. I would definitely suggest the wander mill. I did a lot of digging and found a video online of somebody doing just that with a wonder mill and that’s what sold me on it because they was re-milling rice and it didn’t blow everywhere and I just got mine today and tried it out. Same thing, didn’t blow everywhere!
Thanks for this! I’ve been a hobbyist sourdough baker for a few years, and have really wanted to start making my own flour. I just got a Wondermill for $10 (brand new) on BidFTA. can’t wait to get milling!
Wow, that's incredible! Freshly milled, whole grain flour is a different animal, for sure. But stick around - I have tons of recipes just for 100% whole grains.
Started milling my own grains a couple of months ago, love, love, love it. Started with a kitchenaid grain mill, which actually does a great job on dent corn, but got an amazing opportunity to purchase a year old Wonder Mill. Just checking in with my Grain Guru, you, to prepare for its arrival, use, & maintenance. Thanks for all the info & inspiration! PS~I wonder if you'd get the startup "spin" if it was on a nonskid mat?
2 good reasons for cleaning your mill after each use before putting it awat. 1. Flour will go rancid over time if nothing is in the flour to prevent that possibility. That is why store-bought flour has such a long shelf life. If your home-milled flour starts to go bad u will not be happy with the taste or smell. 2. Bugs and rodents, etc. will be attracted by the smell so again that would not be a good thing as they can cause havoc for u.
Haven't used my whispermill for about 7 years and it needs to be cleaned! Thanks for your trouble shooting tips. I'm looking forward to milling wheat again.
Just tried my Wondermill for first time and ended up with flour everywhere. Triple-checked that I had it set up properly. Hope I can discover what I did wrong before I grind the expensive Einkorn 😁
Queen, I truly appreciate you so much, for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us all.. 💝 I really like “Ms. Wanda”. 💚😋👆🏾🏆. Thank you so much. Stay blissful daily as well.
Thank you for the tips! My nutrimill plus is acting up and I'm sad. ☹️ My grain isn't feeding down to the grinding mechanism. Your tips are helpful. Need to tinker with it. 👍🏻
I did the tips you recommended AND ran about three cups white rice thru on a more coarse setting. I did a good clean out after the rice and my baby is back! 🙌🏻 Thank you! ❤️
My adjustor knob got stuck on Course setting after grinding dry beans. I tried grinding a small amount of wheat, then turning the knob. It was resistant, but did move(I didn't put a ton of pressure on it) and now the knob moves beyond the pastry setting to the left. The wheat flour now comes out grainy-feeling. Is my machine stuck on course now?
So sorry you're having difficulty. I wish I could answer every question on here!! Are you in our exclusive membership group? I do troubleshoot one-on-one in there. You can learn more here: bit.ly/3ta2LTc
I haven’t been told of any Black Friday sales yet, but they do have some going on right now! Their einkorn is on sale, for example. You can just go to grainsandgrit.com/PHG and that’s my affiliate link 😀
I got a Drop of water in mine, from it being next to my sink, I tried to turn It upside down, and then I ran white rice through it, it's still working ok but not sure if I'm going to have issues, I gotta be more careful has anyone else had this happen? I have to look for my book.
Ok I bought a wonder meal off eBay and it has an adjustment like yours on it but you can turn it 360 degrees so I’m not sure if it really adjusts anything. Does yours turn 360?
With the Wondermill I have never noticed any difference when turning the dial EXCEPT it seems to open things up a bit more for when I mill whole corn. Otherwise, you just get the same fine flour no matter what.
Yes. Only a fine setting on the Wondermill. The Nutrimill Harvest is what I am using at the moment and that has the ability to do fine flour all the way to cracked grains.
I am finding it hard to see the point to these attachments. I just added my sorghum and it grind without any issues. Why would you need these attachments?
What do you mean it gets stuck? The wheat berries get stuck in the hopper (or whatever it's called you dump the grains in ha)? I have heard of people having this mill, but I have no experience with it. Considering the price, I wouldn't be expecting anything getting stuck like that.
She is incorrect when she says that the Nutrimill’s flour bowl doesn’t have a lid. It absolutely does have a lid which you put on before you slide the flour bowl into the mill like a drawer. The lid connects to a port when you slide the bowl in. The bowl can hold significantly more milled flour than the Wondermill, too. Best of all, the Nutrimill doesn’t have that scary clockwise jerk when you turn it on, because the mill heads are mounted horizontally so that the momentum generated goes down instead of sideways. This also allows you to put grain into the grain hopper without turning the mill on first and it won’t jam the mill when you turn it on.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: What grain mill do you own? What is your dream grain mill? Let me know in the comments!!!

I have a Whisper Mill! Been going strong since 2002!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Just bought a WonderMill. Very happy to watch your video and learn from your experience. Thank you so much ❤️🙏❤️
Wonderful!
Totally new to milling! Excited! I got a Wondermill. Works great so far!
Yay!! WELCOME to the world of milling! I do love my Wondermill. She is a workhorse for sure!
I just ordered a nutrimill classic thanks to you love you
You're gonna love it!
I just bought a wonder mill. Glad to see this video!

You will love it! So glad these videos are helping you on your milling journey :-)
Love my Wonder mill-thanks for sharing
Haven't used my whispermill for about 7 years and it needs to be cleaned! Thanks for your trouble shooting tips. I'm looking forward to milling wheat again.
Oh yes, probably needs a good cleaning for sure!
Ordered the NutriMill, but now I’m second guessing my choice!!! Haven’t even taken it out of the box yet!!
Just tried my Wondermill for first time and ended up with flour everywhere. Triple-checked that I had it set up properly. Hope I can discover what I did wrong before I grind the expensive Einkorn 😁
Uh-oh! Must have part loose somewhere!

You are so welcome
Thank you so much for your honest review.
Hi. How fine will Miss Wanda grind flour? For example, will she grind it fine for pasta flour or 00 flour? Thank you.
Thank you for the tips! My nutrimill plus is acting up and I'm sad. ☹️
My grain isn't feeding down to the grinding mechanism.

So glad I found your channel! I have a ninja blender/food processor. Do you think that could grind wheat berries into a fine consistency flour?
I really don't know. You can try it, but you may have to grind them twice.
Being in Fl does the humidity affect your grains?
Has anybody ever used an air compressor to blow out the debris for cleaning and for clogs.? Sounds like the best thing to do.

Hmmm it's so interesting, but I wonder how about pepper...... Or only grains???
I don't understand the question.
If I have to mill 7 cups of grain can I add it all at once? Or cup by cup. I have a Wonder Mill.
Absolutely!
My Nutrimill has a cover where the flour goes.
I just received my Wondermill. As soon as I turned it on the mother smelled like something was burning. Is this normal?
Hello, do you know if pleasant Hills Grains will have a black Friday sale? If so, will you get some kickback?? Thanks a bunch. Sincerely, Nina Olney

Will I be able to grind my n soft white and hard white wheat berries in my Vitamix blender?
Yes you certainly can! Just know that the Vitamix can get really hot, so you will only want to do about 1 cup at a time so you don't cook your grains.
Ok I bought a wonder meal off eBay and it has an adjustment like yours on it but you can turn it 360 degrees so I’m not sure if it really adjusts anything. Does yours turn 360?

can we grind dried red chilli peppers in it? please reply
That is something I've never tried before. Hmm...
:( I want to make grits from hominy but I think you answered that question when you said you're making corn flour on the course setting.
Yes. Only a fine setting on the Wondermill. The Nutrimill Harvest is what I am using at the moment and that has the ability to do fine flour all the way to cracked grains.
With your Wonder Mill, how long would you say it takes for 4cups of wheat berries?
Maybe a minute 😄
I am finding it hard to see the point to these attachments. I just added my sorghum and it grind without any issues. Why would you need these attachments?
I have a Mockmill 100, still not sure if i truly like it. It get stuck all the time and i mill wheat berries.

I have a nutrimill and I love mine
They really are both great. I think they work the same, just choose which design you like 😄
You should have titled this, "Wondermill CPR." LOL. I have a Mockmill 200 which I really enjoy.
Is this model manufactured in 1999?
Can it flake oats?
No, but Pleasant Hill Grain has a flaker: bit.ly/3sRN0zB
Nutamill and wondermill. Small hand grinder.
She is incorrect when she says that the Nutrimill’s flour bowl doesn’t have a lid. It absolutely does have a lid which you put on before you slide the flour bowl into the mill like a drawer. Thank you for that clarification! I've never used a Nutrimill impact mill, I've only seen one from a distance.
