In complex doom I spectated a player who had the Hexa Shotgun (yes a 6-barrelled shotgun :D ) and there was a baron of hell at close range for him.
How the actual fuck can you MISS a close ranged baron with the HEXA Shotgun??? 🤣 He fucking missed the hexa shot on the baron lol... xD

Not gonna lie, the 1st fast forward actually startled me. And I could feel that fury when you found the last secret and just quit the game like "Pooh it, I'm out!!!!!!"😂😂😂

If anyone's interested, the music in this level, which I personally love, is a midi rendition of a track from Secret of Evermore, and was written by Jeremy Soule, who of course went on to do the Elder Scrolls music.

@@anew742 There are a few tracks by Stewart Rynn that I think are original to this WAD, plus one by Ribbiks, the co-creator of Sunlust.
oh my god. i thought me thinking of morrowind the whole time was just because it's late as fuck and me getting loopy
I have a soft spot for this map, it's eccentric and different from most of the level design in Sunlust. It's a big patchwork of secrets and if you only do the key progression you can easily exit with less than half the kills. The atmospheric music really makes you feel like you're exploring a forgotten place.

Everyone: Decino. He likes to punch hell knights for no reason at all.
I punch barons with berserk. Berserk is the most fun invention next to shotguns :D
@@De-M-oN Yeah you have a fetish of fisting everything in your path when it comes to Doom. The only three monsters left you never fisted are Mancubus, Spider Mastermind and Cyber Demon when i remember correct.

With fixed hitboxes by GZDoom there is no point in punching a Spider Mastermind. Too dangerous and tedious.
Cyberdemon is too dangerous for me too and also rather tedious
@@De-M-oN You tried in No Rest for the Living, but you gave up after the Mancubus kicked your ass over and over again. And that are a lot of overs. You are quite stubborn in that case. But i cant remember that you successfully did it.

I just noticed the plasma sounds like in doom 3 but faster.
It's much better than the deafening report in vanilla.

The only reason I ever found that secret is because the WADs I used the first time playing sunlust made the armor glow through the wall. Still, this is one of my fave doom maps. Calm yet tense, fun to explore but still has some hectic parts to keep you on edge.

Playing it too now, trying to step ahead of your videos. But I've already seen a couple of later maps and boy does the future look grim.
I never knew about the teleporter next to the Yellow Key. I've rode those elevators for no reason this whole time.
I think this is my favorite Sunlust map. I love the verticality.

I find it rather ironic that wads like TNT and Sunlust have these beautiful landscapes and soundtracks, but you're blasting through waves of demons the whole time.
You could definitely sense the frustrated final discovery in the quick, pissed of way you rage-quit the game... ;)
The mapping skills of the levels you do playthrough of are insane. I'm getting decent at doombuilder but these people crap on my skills LOL

I love that room with the plasma gun. So cool.

I hadn't noticed until now that this wad uses the Doom 3 Plasma bolt sound. I like that sound, it's better that the original, imo.
I forgot how pretty this wad is. That plasma rifle/supercharge secret is very memorable
OST is dope. It's from Jeremy Soule but it reminds me of some of the work of Frank Klepacki on Kyrandia and Lands of Lore. Cool run anyway !

Back a while I played Skillsaw's Valiant wad and thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen on the Doom engine. Haven't finished Sunlust yet but I'd say the two are neck and neck for first. They'll probably end up tying. I don't usually choose favorites in situations like this.

To be fair, he did have some nice moves.
Interesting aspect of verticality, after a fashion to this one---might well be one of the most along these lines I've yet seen you run. I wonder if there's maps out there specifically focusing on massive jumps down into madness and what not vs the usual mazing, or if there's something of an engine ceiling on how much you can do with height and depth.

I enjoyed seeing the successful run alongside the blind run, shows how differently or surprisingly similarly you tackle new challenges and traps. Felt your pain at the end when you finally found that secret. It felt like the instant quit was to avoid swearing on camera...

Thank you for including blind run! I do enjoy the practiced runs, don't get me wrong, but there is something special about the first time through for me. As soon as you mentioned that it was included I skipped to watch it first.

If you're serious, doomworld and moddb. They've been running wad competitions for years.
those "insta-warping" enemies are standing on invisible elevators below the ground, an oldschool doom editing trick
Good Doom wads are actually not that hard to be found. You just take one look at any “best wads of all time” list and a lot of familiar names start to crop up (Memento Mori, Alien Vendetta, Hell Revealed and more recently there’s Valiant and Eviternity). Or just go on the Cacowards pages and start browsing. Easy.

Doomworld is your friend. Check out the Cacowards for an endless supply of great maps.
You're lucky the arachnotron didn't melt you as soon as it spawned in the blue key trap. That happened to me a few times and it was infuriating.

This is one hell of a beautiful and interesting WAD actually. I don't normally do unofficial WADs but this one I would be really happy to play. It really does show its age, as in, it's Doom but decidedly modern. Showing how far WADs have come, and the true potential of the Doom engine and the source ports.

I've been enjoying Sunlust and its ball busting crap, but the music is...bleh. Some is cool, but I don't know why they pick these JRPG chill songs for Doom maps. I've been playing with no music.

Going secret hunting on...ludicrous speed! Both good runs, all things considered.
The isolated Arch-Vile part was cool because I could really see how he's a bunch of scanned in photos.
20:14 nice RNG damage manipulation to get the perfect percent. It's almost like you try to get this XD
Good use of the pistol to shoot the switch, vs. wasting a chaingun or a shotgun on it. That's probably the only time you'll use the pistol!
The music's good, but it's much louder than the in-game sounds. I want to hear pumping shotguns and dying camels.

Imps getting gibbed by Hellknight? I'd imagine the Imp wqould have to be at 9 HP or lower, and it gets hit by a 80 damage melee attack. Doesn't sound too common.
19 HP or lower, so not too rare. Doesn't even have to be a 80 damage roll.
