    I've not heard of the Rex, just see it on itv and cried. Watched a number of videos now and I am hopeful my son would be able to use one of these later on. I am amazed, beyond words that this exists! Just wow!

    As someone who had a spinal injury at a very young age where the consultant told me I'd never walk again and many years later and luckily for me a long hard road to full mobility I'm utterly excited by Rex! The difference to a life that Sophie describes is inconceivable - understood by few, addressed by fewer my love to those who care enough to develop such a beautiful and intuitive solution is immeasurable! Looking forward to seeing the slimline version that Sophie hopes for to tuck under her jeans. Well done!!

    The engineers who designed this should get some kind of award, although I am guessing a smile from that young lady would probably be enough to make it all worth it ..Good job :)

    This is absolutely fantastic! Has anyone ever used one of these who has cerebral palsy?

      Hi Michael, sorry for the (very) delayed response. There are many factors which can influences whether REX is able to be used by a particular person - take a look at the guide on our website (www.rexbionics.com/products/rex-personal/can-i-use-rex/) and provided that a person meets the criteria, it's very likely that they will be able to walk with REX. Thanks for your question!

      Rex Bionics
      Because of the requirement for active balancing, I suspect that most people who cannot walk due to cerebral palsy would not be able to use Rex. Also, I cannot actively transfer, so it's probably not suitable for me, but thank you for your reply.

    Michael I don't see why someone with CP couldn't use it... Especially if your legs are mainly effected..

    • @Michellandau
      @Michellandau 10 лет назад

      Thanks for your reply Tara. It appears Rex requires the ability to actively balance. A large portion of people with CP do not have this ability. The people who have CP who would have a good enough sense of balance to be able to use it probably would also have the ability to walk by themselves.

      Michael Landau Hi Michael and Tara. You are right in that Rex Bionics requires a very small amount of active balance. It is always up to the potential user's doctor or physiotherapist to decide whether REX is suitable, and as with anything, there's certainly no harm in asking! Thanks - Jason

      Michael Landau Check out the Rex Bionics stability video to see how stable it really is. This may provide a better understanding of the amount of active balance which might be required.

    the walking device seems extremely slow and she can get places quicker in the wheelchair but if it helps with muscle spasms, incontinence etc great - just not great for getting places
