I met Duke Reid’s nephew about a year ago, very kind and funny! He invited me into the tour bus of Steel Pulse and we all had some great convos about reggae history! Didn’t even know who he was until Amlak told me that’s the man who engineered Uprising by Bob Marley.
I know when these music was released going to some nice house parties,in England they useto called it pushin ,I have been to several house parties in Florida,in Jamaica it cannot count. In days those I was near King Tubbys, Black Scarpio,King Jammys, stylistic discotheque just to mentioned a few of them. Those were the good old days, when man useto dressed in tuxedos suit, and women in Maxie dresses going to some nice hotel balls.
November 2020 and I'm just finding this channel. Me a old time Yardie and them ya riddim truly real and wicked and bring back ire memries. Thank you Mr. D J, you well nice me bredda.
One question since you use a what looks like laptop where do you get music to store on it ? Do you buy vinyl or cd and then upload or do you just stream music like most people today ?
I never really found a streaming source worth listening to, other than other selectors' mixes. My collection was built from CDs, with a lot of the content being swapped CDRs of out of print LPs and some single comps. I never got into downloading because the quality wasn't high enough. I've always been buying vinyl, but I always digitized it for ease of playing on the radio. Now that I've moved from radio to building a soundsystem and I'm playing out a lot more, I'm buying a lot more vinyl since I've gotten into the habit of only playing vinyl live.
Do you play in England? Yr mixes send me especially yr stereo vocals. Like an astral journey thru the soul marketplace. Can I tell you about Phil Bush? He calls his rig a full valve system. At London Ska Festival ths yr. His set is like a full body experience. The bass blew my skirt out!x

@4:03 it starts. It's the vocals underneath Al Capone's DJing. Specifically@4:20 also.
@@aarondixon7 Oh, don't know who the backing vocals are. that was just an alternative take credited to Alcapone.
